    India has been making headlines in recent years for its rapidly growing economy, which has earned it the nickname of the “tiger economy.” The country’s GDP has been growing at an average rate of 7% per year, making it one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world. But what is driving this growth, and what does it mean for the future of the Indian economy?
    Despite facing numerous challenges, the country has continued to flourish and attract international investors. In this event, we will be exploring the Indian economy and the lessons learned by Lord Karan Bilimoria, former CBI President, who has had a front-row seat to India’s economic transformation.
    Lord Karan Bilimoria is a prominent figure in both the UK and Indian business communities. As the founder of Cobra Beer and a member of the House of Lords, he has a unique perspective on the relationship between the two countries, particularly in regards to trade and investment.
    About the speaker:
    Lord Karan Bilimoria CBE, DL is the founder and Chair of the Cobra Beer Partnership, Founding Chairman of the UK India Business Council, Chancellor of the University of Birmingham and Vice-President of the Confederation of British Industry (formerly President), among many other roles and appointments. He was appointed to the House of Lords in 2006 and sits as a cross bench peer.
    Lord Bilimoria’s priorities when he was CBI President included championing workplace diversity. He founded the fantastically successful Change the Race Ratio, a campaign to improve ethnic minority participation across all business. More than 100 leading businesses and organisations have signed up so far.
    His other priorities include championing global Britain, to promote entrepreneurship, and universities and businesses working more closely together.
