Mind you this South Sudan team is playing for a country that's only 13 years old who just declared independence from the Republic of Sudan and many players took refuge there. They don't even have indoor practice facilities. So they're playing in a complete different environment which is indoor basketball. If you hoop you know how different the conditions are between indoor vs outdoor basketball. They train outside in the hot African sun all day and they just went toe to toe with the best in the world. Amazing feat.

I always say the USA dominates basketball because basketball in Africa, Caribbean and other regions with big black populations like Britain, France and Brazil , is still a minor sport. So the USA only really competes with Europe and South American countries like Spain, Argentina, Serbia, Croatia, Germany and other nations with hardly any black players, so the USA dominates. If the Africa and Caribbean cared about basketball like they care about soccer, the USA would never win a gold medal again in basketball.
I’m not a huge sports fan but what I noticed is a lot of these Euro countries use a lot of African players be it football or basketball. It’s literally in our genes lol sure there are exceptions but the motherland has untapped talent that goes unnoticed for unfortunate reasons. Also my S. Sudanese people are literally some of the tallest people on earth (kingdom of Kush) we conquered our mighty neighbors to our north (Egypt) during the 25th dynasty .
