The thing with that Barça is that they were a natural evolution of Johan Cruyff's total football. Meaning the position in the pitch were just nominal but during the match players would roam almost freely on the pitch to pressure and get control of the ball as soon as possible. So in short, Iniesta and Xavi were the central midfielders but they would play all over the pitch, moving were they were needed at the moment. All the team moved the same way so they were covering each other spaces at all times.

That's exactly why I never considered Messi to be the goat.. because he literally was playing with the greatest team in football history. Messi is just so lucky to play with those legends, I honestly believe Messi's football career wouldn't have been the same if he hadn't played with Barcelona, it's kind of like considering KD the goat while he playing with players like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson and Draymond!!! and trust me all the players Messi played with are much much bigger name than that

The thing with that Barça is that they were a natural evolution of Johan Cruyff's total football. Meaning the position in the pitch were just nominal but during the match players would roam almost freely on the pitch to pressure and get control of the ball as soon as possible. So in short, Iniesta and Xavi were the central midfielders but they would play all over the pitch, moving were they were needed at the moment.
All the team moved the same way so they were covering each other spaces at all times.
