Where did you buy batteries?
So this fix will work but it is dangerous for a few reasons.
1) That black looking sticker on the original cells is probably a temperature cut out circuit that will disconnect the cell if it gets too hot during charging or discharging. It should have been put on the new cell. This battery pack is now more dangerous and more likely to overheat ...
2) The cells should have been balanced first (all cells to the same voltage, e.g. 3.7v)
3) Mixing battery capacities when in series (like these 4 cells) can change the individual cell voltages. Some may go dangerously high and again get too hot or wear out quickly.

Most cases thiss will not work because battery controler is in locked state already. After cell replacement, battery must be connected to evaluation kit (usually Texas Instruments) and using their special software controler can be unlocked.

It's an old Lenovo Z50-75 laptop with an A10 processor, bought in 2016, but for the office work I use it for, it's quite enough for me.
Info: I bought a Chinese aftermarket battery for it, but it lasted about 1 hour... in other words: as long as the used old factory battery.
*IMPORTANT QUESTION*: If I could replace it with 2500 or even with very expensive "real" 3000 mAh 18650 Samsung cells, it would cost the same as buying the original Lenovo battery but would give 1.5 times more power (I'm talking about time using it without charging)
What do you think? Would the built-in charge controller in the battery cover only charge it to 2000 mAh as the factory battery? Or will it charge to 3000 mAh?

The fix works, I did the same. I swapped all cells, and the battery was perfect. The tray showed x for 2h 22 min, by leaving it to discharge, the x was removed in 20 min phases for each discharge. Under 7%, the x still appeared. Diablo 2 Khalim’s relics remove the failure when found on battery only. Ms Project 2007 removes charging lock, when used on wire then unplugged. Demo works, too.
Only good with old battery model with simple BMS included. Now recent
BMS are sophisticated and refuse a current output after repair if they
are disconnected (necessary for changing the 18650 elements) So, after
changing you have good voltage at the main ports between battery and
BMS...but nothing at the BMS output. Manufacturers are clever! You must
buy a new one......I'm not the first one who explains that in the comments...but no answer.
@hacshis hoxisered someone told me that you gotta solder a Lipo battery like 450mah to maintain charge to the BMS.
You're right. Replacing the battery cell does not guarantee that there is a voltage on the positive and negative pins of BMS. I also need a solution for this problem.
One solution is to build a 19V battery (same voltage as the adapter) with a correct BMS and wire with female jack connection.
And you connect this pack to the male jack of the computer (normally receiving the jack of the 19V adapter). So Battery cannot be installed in the computer but outside . However you don't have any "control" by the computer, and you can always work without issue. Easy to build, to charge and to replace. Simply five 18650 cells (best would be 2x5 in parallel for longer use time). Don't forget BMS to avoid a deep discharge of the cells by use, and to realise a correct full charge.

That’s correct. Also keep in mind he didn’t even weld the replacement 18650 cell to the tabs. I wouldn’t follow his instructions without doing that.

Do you need to solder the new battery connection? Looks like you did not so you are relying on the case holding the batteries together? A bit off topic, but using a multimeter to check small button batteries can be challenging, so I took a wood clothes pin and drilled a hole on each side of the business end of the clothes pin. The holes are just large enough to allow the multimeter probes passage. Place the button battery in the clothes pin and testing the voltage is a breeze.

You should replace all of the batteries. Mixing new and used is extremely dangerous. Look at all the vids of vapes exploding. Battery safety is important, please do your research!
@@oualidpro8427 no. but at least make sure it is equal or higher than the replaced ones, so that the new one will not get damaged by over-discharging it while the others still have capacity.
and more important than this, is that the new cell has to have equal or higher output current rating than the original!! if it is lower, then the whole battery pack may not be able to sustain the laptop's power needs, and this will also kill off the new battery in time.
so the answer is no.
BUT ! in case the battery pack is made of cells that are connected in parallel and if all the cells on one side are damaged, then it is VERY important for the new cells to be the same capacity(mAh) AND same current rating(mA) (and of course same type and voltage, that's IMPLIED 😅) as the original ones, or they can explode !!
so yeah......this is not a game, there is a reason why laptop manufacturers prefer you to replace the whole expensive battery pack
I keep on having the REPLACE THE DAMN BATTERY note every start up and it says 0% when plugged in so this is easy and helpful

ok i see no one is talking about eeprom chip inside the battery. that eprom chip is a fail safe solution for charging and discharging multiple times a lithion battery, because after x cicles the cells become unstable, is usually 500 full charge discharge .that eprom chip inside the bat memorises these cicles and when it reaches a set value will not charge the battery anymore and windows will say replace battery.if you change all the cells in the battery pack with new ones wont work becose eprom is not reset and will still have 500 cicles in memory.there is no way to reset it only to program it for the new cells to start the cicles from zero.This video is miss information

due to controller chip it wont work with Dell & HP batteries
Dell D600 battery (C1295) With a jumper between Ground and the SYS PRESENT pin I can measure voltage and discharge the battery using a R/C charger /discharger. However I can not charge at the out most pins. No current flow goes into the battery.
If I put the battery back in the laptop it will charge it full again. Would you know if I need another jumper to allow the battery to accept charging?

How do you reset the battery memory after repacking???? When more than one cell goes low than there is NO output on the battery terminals, after repacking it needs a RESET.
@@TheCrozenfox Which school did you go to?????????? You are talking about some very old battery circuits where putting in new cells starts the battery. The newer assemblies produce no output even after all batteries get replaced by good ones. Few years earlier (2012 - 2016) there was a reset method (bridging positive of the last cell to main positive output for one minute) which doesn't work any more.

This wont work. Its a time waste. The eeprom chip of the battery needs to be reset and nobody has a way of doing it.

@@ITMagics i dont understand what you mean by physical damage. I had 2 cells dead (0 volt type of dead with cis caps popped out), the others were good. I replaced the 2 dead ones but nothing, still not charging. The protection board EEPROM needs to be reset as well otherwise you replace the cells in vain. What you need to post videos about is how to RESET the protection board after changing cells.

You need to retain the power to the board when changing the cells not all battery controller chip can retain memory

The laptop is on while the charge is on. The charge plaque is turned off immediately after opening. The laptop is not on without charge again.

Try restarting the BMS by shorting + point of battery (15v) package with battery connector + point (connector that connects with laptop) and hopefully BMS with start and it will work. If not than I'm sorry my friend your Laptop battery OEM is to blame for not allowing BMS restart or maybe the battery board is dead

@@lucaseilers3996 When you desolder the batteries from the board, Due to power loss the Battery Management System (BMS IC) shuts down or disconnects the output to the laptop. So even if you put new batteries, it will never work as the BMS's safety mechanism kicks in (disconnects output). It's made to think that something wrong has happened and to save the laptop it will disconnect output. So you need to restart the BMS after every battery is soldered in the board. So take the positive end from end of the board 15v+ from board then short it at the connector's + (output) and it should jump start the BMS. If you still don't understand, just search on UA-cam : "How to restart laptop battery BMS ?"

what I leaem from. UA-cam. it's not simple to replace cell in laptop. if u disconnect it will lock and not power-up the laptop. bms should always connected. while replacing the batery. I will try on my laptop and make a video soon.

@@Bertminator 18650 battery hunting is actually really not safe. You might get scammed and get 300mah batteries instead of 1000mah ones. It's safe to go for a cheap 10000mah powerbank and disassemble that one since fake 10000mah powerbanks have half the capacity (6000mah)

عند ربطها بالحاسوب تظهر لي بطارية مشحونة 100% ولكن عند نزع الكابل عن الحاسوب ينطفئ الجهاز.
عند تجريب محرك DC من أقطاب البطاريات مجتمعة يشتغل ولكن عند محاولة تشغيله من أقطاب BMS التي تتصل بالحاسوب لا يشتغل وعند قياس الجهد بالميلتيمتر يعطي 00، كأن منفذ BMS غير شغال.
هل من طريقة لتصليحه أو تحفيزه؟

@@ITMagics Hi, today i`v checked each cell and i notice that one is showing 3.2V. So i`ve change it with new. Now he battery voltage is 14.8V. When i putted on the battery on the computer I tried to run the computer on battery (just to test it). Nothing happened. When i turned on the pc i saw its capacity is 25% plugged in, not charging. Again the same but the capacity is now 25% but not 0%. Any other suggestions?

@@ITMagics Do you mind something more specific? The battery is on 150 cycles and many of the cycles aren't even full. It's a new battery. I have it for 2 years but very rarely used.
@@warfit8698 If you are interested to know how to test correctly your batteries, just try to find my comment posted in the comments column. Voltage testing alone is misleading.
The plastic on the HP one is so thin it just falls to pieces. No wonder they were recalling all those batteries that are set up to fail. Add in the messages about change the battery given by HP system. My wifes battery did that and I connected it a few hours off the laptop and guess what it fully charges perfectly. HP what a bunch of scammers. The number of failed laptops I have encountered that are HP.
