With this tutorial, you are going to learn how to sew a heavy duty grocery bag. This grocery bag it’s going to be beautiful, roomy and perfect to carry heavy stuff. Like for example several bottles of wine lol… or milk!!! #heavydutybag #grocerybag #totebag
The only materials you need are:
2 Pieces of 23” by 22” of Duck Fabric the color of your choice
1 Piece of 10 ½” by 12” of Duck Fabric for the pocket or Cotton fabric if you wish to customize it with iron on.
2 Yards of 1” or 2” of webbing straps. I am using 2” seat belt webbing from Scrappy Camel www.farmyarn.u...

I made this bag with French seams and made the bottom of bag stronger and makes for grocery stops at Costco awesome. I also used rivets for the straps. I like the foldable bags. DIY.

Very nice bag. I was wondering about the side seams and boxing seams should be finished to help with fraying or do french seams instead?

Yes, Doing french seams or serger would finish it perfectly, making it stronger and long lasting…or adding a lining. Beautiful bag, like the pocket, and the square cut out for boxing!
I would strengthen the bag floor too. Groceries are often heavy.
Love the look. I’m new to sewing and crafting, is there an easy way to add a lining to this. I prefer a finished look to the interior, Also is there transfers that iron on or do you have to have a Cricut machine? Thanks! Regardless of the lining answer, I plan on making one using your tutorial. =)
