I dont even see the rot at the back of the fenders where the drain holes for the cowl are. Hidden holes can be fixed up..(You should see the Ranchero Im redoing...talk about bad, but the skin is good and thats what shows and is the hardest to get fixed...floors can be done with a stick and scrap metal if need be (although Id put new stuff)

There's a tremendous amount of good parts on that car! The interior in it looks awesome! When I first saw the car I couldn't believe you were pulling the engine, But I couldn't see the rust for the dirt on it. Once you opened the hood and had the camera up close and personal I could see it's quite a mess! There are guys restoring these and just about every little piece to that car will sell on line!
I learned to drive on a Marquis that was virtually identical, except with the 400 - 2 bbl, which was a pitiful engine. I once drag raced a buddy whose Dad's car was similar but with a 4 bbl. I don't remember who won, but it wasn't a real exciting race - I don't know if we even exceeded the speed limit.

69 lincoln continental I had one it was the best riding car it floated down the highway like a dream a long trip was very nice in it you didnt hurt or stiff unlike the cars today .
I had a 74 that i bought for $300.00. cleaned it with in a inch of it's life inside and out, did major tune up, changed ALL the fluids in it and sold it for $3,500.00!!!!!!!! The good old Lincoln's with ZERO rust are very sought after these day's, the bigger the land yacht the more their sought after!! But being a Mercedes-Benz guy i just flip the American stuff. Older Benz's are the best engineered automobiles i've ever work on and drive every day.
Believe it or not,it's the torque that rolls the tires that well.@250lb,but 185 Hp with that intake and exhaust manifolds.Can't wait to see what you get when you're set up in the Merc.Awesome find.

After they started to look at it they seem that the car really wasn’t worth all the money it would take, so that’s why it was pushed off to the side. I find these cars forsale every so often around my area, and they go for about 1500-2500, but not to many with the 460. I usually see them with the 400. It will be worth it for the 52 Merc. I can’t wait!
No replacement for displacement . That is a true land yatch . The differences between the lincoln 460 and ford 460 mostly is in the "dressing", valve covers, air cleaners, etc. On years where Lincoln and Ford offered a 460 for a passenger car, you'd find the insides of both 460's to be very much the same.

There was no difference in the engines at all. I own a 72 Lincoln Continental and the 460 even has “power by Ford” on the valve covers. The air cleaner has a Ford oval logo on the sticker as well.
76 only came with one engine, the 460. 77 was the same except for California cars, which had the 400 as an option. That was the first year they offered anything other than the 460.
That 460 is a good choice i think for the 52 mercury , even in stock form would propel the merc quit well , with a little work and$$ well ya . The merc is more like 1500 pounds lighter or more , good show , i like the smoke show too . Lol

A 390 bolts right in , thec460 will be harder , oil pan clearance and the motor mounts , we put a 429 in a 57 ford and used truck motor mounts with the single stud , and cut the pan , good luck .il be watching to see how u make out
The cross member is already notched out for a front sump oil pan, which should make it a little easier. The guy who last had my 52 was running a 351w engine. We had a bad to bone 66 Fairlane my son and I did a while back. 390 4 speed, that I yanked out of a 67 Galaxy. I love a 390 but I’m just ready for a change. Will see how it goes.thanks Ronald
I'd kinda like to see someobe do a really weird modern engine swap into one if those old boats. Had a ride in a Mark V a few years back. Owner wanted to know why it had no heat. Heater core was bypassed. :)
I adore these cars, but I have to say it does look as if the car was better for parts, really. At first blush it seems like a car that has a lot of items that are in good shape, or at least potentially good order, in the inside that could be used for other Lincolns...the seats, radio, switches, etc., and much that also is likely beyond the battle overall.

if this car really has 41k on it..and a little bit of rust...i dont think i would cut this car up just for that watered down 460..i would look in junkyards for another 460...plenty of them in trucks ...this car looks to good to cut up just for that ...but i'm glad your not going to junk up that merc with a cheby motor of some kind...and hey..dont down play the 400's..they have a longer stroke then the 460's
The big old Lincoln town car not a continental. the Continentals are nicer cars in my opinion then the town car the only thing wrong with that it's a 76 and has the smog 460 in it but it's a easy fix with just the swap of the heads get some good heads and that will be a alright engine for a hot rod

The Lebanese govt. had stockpiles which were headed for the scrap pile. That was 1984 & 1985 then I moved back to Ps. I miss NC, lot better than central Pa.

I have a 68 Lincoln Contintal suicide door with 460.Fun car.I also have 78 F-150 with 460.And a 90 F-250 with fuel injected 460.

A friend's father used to have one of these and he used to tell us that it would pass anything but a gas station 😆
Park brake release on these is attached to the shifter. Move the lever out of Park and the parking brake is released.

I hope you're going fix the compression and put a cam in it. Those 460s in those cars only had 202 HP. Not worth it otherwise.
