For foreign tourists, $140 a Month is a pretty good price and a very nice room! Once I visited my Thai friend He lived $110 a Month Apartment when his income is just around $450 per month (Thai minimum salary) is pretty hard for him. Maybe, you should try to live like a Thai person with $15 per day will be challenging. By the way, Good video bro!
I'm currently living on less than $5 in India regarding food and necessities, With that being said, You can eat two hot meals (Indian meals...) a day. This type of lifestyle is definitely doable in a short term situation which gives you enough time to start a business or until you can start making more money. I mention that because $15 per day in Thailand is definitely doable, sometimes you have to make sacrifices to get to where you want to go. An apartment like the one in this video is simply unbelievable at that price.

why is airbnb so much ..... or is this only for long term residents not for a tourist who would stay for a month?

Airbnb is usually more expensive so that they can actually turn a profit. People usually opt for airbnb because they don't plan to stay long term.
