MediaCityUK, Salford Quays - 4K walk - Slow Scenes UK

Let's go for a walk through Salford Quays! This area used to be the site of the Manchester Docks, which at one stage was the 3rd busiest shipping port in the country! The docks closed in 1982, while at the same time a major regeneration was beginning to take shape. Plans were signed off in the 1990s for the redevelopment of the docks into a leisure and shopping area. This began with The Lowry theatre which opened in 2000, followed by the Lowry Outlet Mall (now Quayside MediaCityUK) in 2001. The Imperial War Museum, designed by Daniel Libeskind, opened in 2002. The building's design represents shards of the world broken apart by war.
The final part of the regeneration was MediaCityUK, which opened in 2011. Today Media City is home to tenants such as the BBC, ITV, University of Salford and other independent companies. Many popular British shows are made there including Coronation Street, Countdown, Mastermind, Deal Or No Deal and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, as well as CBeebies and CBBC, the UK's most popular children's channels!
