Reading some people online is just baffling with all the "no defense" and "conditioning" BS. This dude is the main reason the Mavs even made it to the playoffs last year! He carried the whole team on his back through dec-jan with half the team injured and put on one of the most unbelievable offensive seasons EVER. I got my kid the 77 jersey for his birthday just because of this historic season and to celebrate how great of a chemistry the Mavs had. This young man then proceeded to OBLITERATE the strongest teams in the west through the playoffs while bleeding through his knees and getting all kinds of cheap shots on defence, with most role players not scoring a 3 to save their lives. And got a pretty good defensive rating in the process, while being INJURED. How in the name of f*** some people are saying this is a win for the mavs is beyond me. Luka could have doubled his weight and feed on cheetos and still be untradeable for most franchises. I mean, look at Zion and he has achieved nothing.

Fan from Germany here, after Dirks retirement I have remained a Mavs fan only because of Luka and I now I can speak for a lot of fans overseas. I cannot find any words for what is going on in my mind.. they should for sure relocate the franchise, this fanbase is absolutely burned to the ground. This is on Adam Silver. He knows what he is doing to try and keep the Lakers relevant for another potential Lakers vs Celtics finals. New owners also not paying 345 million for a player with conditioning and calf issues who won't rest in the off-season. Also helps tank the growing player market by forcing Luka to give up 116 million. The league is corrupt. Luka lack of self awareness of the NBA business also caused this. No one should complain about star players demanding trades now and trying to maximize their money after this.

Problem with very highly paid employees is that they are required to have a huge impact for the company to be worth the money they get. Harrison must have become convinced that the team could not win a championship with Luka. He also must believe that the other players added on the Mavericks can step up and win in the play offs.
That’s how life works. All you’re doing is spitting facts not making an argument. There’s no real change here for either team player. None of them are getting rings anytime soon.
I think that it's far more likely that the owners told him that they are moving to Las Vegas next year and he has to ruin the franchise in the process. He is going to keep his job, the best players would leave and the Las Vegas Mavericks would become a lottery team.

I am a fucking 32 year old and never in my sports life have i bin this much in shock. I was so damn sad, feel betrayed, angry and shocked. I tried to explain my wife what I feel right now and she said she knows... "You look and act like a teen being heartbroken after your first big love has left you and will be togetherwith the cool kid" And damn! That's how I feel. So we went out for a long walk and bought some cake and I told her about all the good moments I had with my glorious king Luka. Did It help. No. I am still a heartbroken 32 year old hating his sports team I followed for almost 20 years.

There must have been some under the table scheming behind this trade. You dont trade generational superstar to one specific team for peanuts. Luka healed the pain of what they did to the 2011 team. I finally started to care again. I don't think I can start over. Nico better hope he's right or he's viewed as the biggest idiot in sports history, hell of a gamble. This is about more than winning, he just ruined an entire culture.
As a Rockets fan I'm crushed for Mavs fans. I can't picture Luka in any other jersey...it just seems crazy to think about. He's a generational talent and only 25 YEARS OLD. I liked the thought of all of the Texas teams (Houston's young core, Luka in Dallas, and Wemby in SA) fighting it out for years to come. I'm sure that AD will be a monster for you guys but I still loved Luka on the Mavs and hate to see him on the freaking Lakers now.
This will be the only form of Mavs media I will watch until we make the finals again. They will no longer get my views or money. I will support yall guys as I always have, but the team doesn’t deserve my support. Huge Lakers fan here. EVEN if there is something we don’t know about Luka (he has a gnarly injury, going to retire next year, etc) the fact that Luka wasn’t put on the open market and we (the Lakers) kept one of our first rounders is insane.
We are beyond sad in Dallas. We're in mourning. Whatever shape he was in, he has led the team closer and closer to a championship each year. The players also love luca, and they all like one another. Why would you consciously trade a perennial MVP candidate just getting into his prime, having led a team that just made it to the finals and the conference finals before that and that had for all intents and purposes gotten better? For a player that is hurt all the time and nowhere on Luka's level even when he's healthy. And to the Lakers, of all ... This has got to be the sports-equivalent of dropping a nuke on your own franchise. I'm sorry, but I kind of feel I am done with the Mavericks. Absolutely devastated.

Reading some people online is just baffling with all the "no defense" and "conditioning" BS. This dude is the main reason the Mavs even made it to the playoffs last year! He carried the whole team on his back through dec-jan with half the team injured and put on one of the most unbelievable offensive seasons EVER. I got my kid the 77 jersey for his birthday just because of this historic season and to celebrate how great of a chemistry the Mavs had.
This young man then proceeded to OBLITERATE the strongest teams in the west through the playoffs while bleeding through his knees and getting all kinds of cheap shots on defence, with most role players not scoring a 3 to save their lives. And got a pretty good defensive rating in the process, while being INJURED.
How in the name of f*** some people are saying this is a win for the mavs is beyond me. Luka could have doubled his weight and feed on cheetos and still be untradeable for most franchises. I mean, look at Zion and he has achieved nothing.

Problem with very highly paid employees is that they are required to have a huge impact for the company to be worth the money they get. Harrison must have become convinced that the team could not win a championship with Luka. He also must believe that the other players added on the Mavericks can step up and win in the play offs.
Luka is gonna drop 50 on the Mavs every game and get at least 3 chips with the Lakers. Mavs won't be winning any chips for the next 10 years

As a Rockets fan I'm crushed for Mavs fans. I can't picture Luka in any other jersey...it just seems crazy to think about. He's a generational talent and only 25 YEARS OLD. I liked the thought of all of the Texas teams (Houston's young core, Luka in Dallas, and Wemby in SA) fighting it out for years to come. I'm sure that AD will be a monster for you guys but I still loved Luka on the Mavs and hate to see him on the freaking Lakers now.
A fair trade for Luka would have been AD, Lebron, and 3 first round picks!

Huge Lakers fan here. EVEN if there is something we don’t know about Luka (he has a gnarly injury, going to retire next year, etc) the fact that Luka wasn’t put on the open market and we (the Lakers) kept one of our first rounders is insane.
We are beyond sad in Dallas. We're in mourning. Whatever shape he was in, he has led the team closer and closer to a championship each year. The players also love luca, and they all like one another. Its also sad with the connection that these players have had with one another. You can tell that they enjoy playing with each other and enjoy being on that team. That is gone now. Everyone feels weird about it. Including the players I'm sure. Everyone blind sided
