Peter builds a winged box kite - and has a perfect first flight

- My 1,573rd kite video. Peter Dennehy seems to be able to build any kind of kite, and always to a very high standard. This latest, based on my Giant Winged Box from China, is smaller but of better construction than the original, and flew brilliantly on its first time in the air. (There's a few other kites to look at first, but it's worthwhile waiting for the star of the show!)

A pair of winged double box kites flying beside each other is not a sight often seen. Well done Peter on another great looking kite. The other rare sight was the rear view of the Angel. It looked quite different. Hoping you may get some better blue skies in the coming week.
Peter's is the better kite, Carl, but mine is still the larger, of course (I must make sure not to fly it in the rain or it might shrink!) It won't be long before we see you here for a brief visit, so bring good winds and blue sky with you.
Another Peter masterpiece great feeling to make a kite that flys perfectly first time
He's a smart guy, and he seldom fails to get his kites right first time.
Those box kites look amazing, especially Peters - the colors really show up in video, which I often find doesn’t convey the true regal appearance of kites seen in person. Very nice job, I can see the exactness and precision put into his work!
Except in size, Peter's kite is definitely superior to mine. He's a great craftsman.
The winged boxes make a good looking pair Jim. Peter has become quite a proficient builder, well done Peter!
Peter is a marvel, Hal - there seems to be no kite he can't build.
Another great Video!!!! Peter and you are rocking the sky!!!! Even if its cloudy... thank you for sharing. Alex
I'm glad you liked it, Alex. We try our best to brighten up the sky whenever there's a chance to do so.
I found two of the three Parrot Kites, one from ITW, and one from PPK.
And you have seven of them?!!
You're killing me, Jim!
Truth be told, if I can find the third one, I'd be happy with that.
Keep 'em flying!
You are missing the Sapphire one, I guess, Richard, and I don't know where you might find one right now. ITW have been having production problems since they lost the factory in China that they'd used for years. A lot of items are out of stock now, and while some will be back later, others may never return, sadly. I would guess the parrots will be back, but you'll need to wait a while.

Actually, it's the blue/violet I can't find.
It's okay, though.
I'm grateful to have found the ones I did.
Still waiting to place my order next week, when I get paid.
Hopefully, they'll still be there by then.
Fingers crossed!
That's the one they call Sapphire! I hope you get the other two, anyway.

Sapphire, as in sapphire blue.
Yes, of course!
That was another great build by Peter...what can't he do?!
Not much, I guess - he's very smart.
Jim Nicholls That’s for sure!
I really like those box kites, I had a chance to fly my own kites the other day but the wind was fickle and they only stayed up a short time. When I can’t get out and fly my own it’s nice to be able to watch your videos.
Jim do you think flying keeps you young or young at heart
Well, I'm going to be 80 in a few weeks, and I'm still quite mobile and able to cope with four or five hours flying, so I guess it must help anyway.
@ Jim since last week I haven’t been able to fly I found out I tested positive for Covid I look forward to flying again but for now I settle for watching your videos
Another great video Jim! Love the Birds. Peter is an amazing man. Sweet looking kite Peter! Well done. Thanks Jim!
Peter is certainly very skillful, all self-taught, too.
What a great day. Love the kites selections and music Jim.
Thanks, Michael. We had another good fly yesterday (Saturday) but today the wind is going to make flying impossible, I think, although otherwise it will be a beautiful day for the last official day of winter.
Great fly Jim. Now I have winged box-kites in my mind.... thanks for that 😂😂 In all seriousness they look magnificent flying together.
I don't know why no manufacturer makes a good quality, large winged box, as they're a great kite to fly. There are some cheap small ones around which don't fly very well (Gomberg had one, and there are ones direct from China) but there's nothing I'd recommend.
Nice selection of kites for the video , I may get out & do the same today .
Have fun!
Nice box kites, they're my fave to fly & make! Today I tried brightening the smoky sky (we have local wildfires brewing) with one of my Premier 36 Sled kites (the Rainbow Illusion) and the Premier 8 foot Grey Tabby Kitten laundry attachment.
That's my favourite pattern in the Power Sleds, and I'm happy that I have one as I think it may be discontinued now. I must fly my kitten again soon - I'd almost forgotten that I had it, so thanks for the reminder.
👏👍💪
Those winged box kites look cool. I ordered that same blue seahorse over 2 months ago. It has yet to arrive. 🙁
I'm still waiting for a package sent from America five months ago, Ken. I'm not very optimistic that it will ever turn up now. I hope you get your seahorse, anyway.
The sad thing is Jim, I ordered a replacement part for one of my guitars that I got from Thomann music in Germany. I received it within a week and a half. Something is definitely going on. Monica certainly doesn’t take that long to send anything. I have always gotten orders from her within 3 weeks.
It's certainly odd, Ken, and it will be good when (or if) things get back to normal.
Not sure if your packages are using the US postal system, but that system has been in shambles since a new Post Master General took recently. As a cost cutting measure he ended overtime. Hopefully your packages arrive soon
Yes, I saw that guy displaying his ignorance to a congress committee of the system he's supposedly managing but actually trying to destroy. What a disaster that is!
Still loving the videos Jim and watch them all. It's great to see them when I can't get out much. Which seller was the yellow lifter from? I guess someone on AliExpress? It looks like a great flyer.
It came from Hengda Kites quite a while ago, David. It's a very good kite. I'm glad you enjoy the videos.
