Great job on the septic Al. As a note from personal experience, flag and stake off your septic and drainfield areas. There is something about a new septic area that is just a calling card for cement trucks and other contractor equipment to run over them. Flagging it off is cheap insurance when you're moving fast pouring concrete.

You need to learn how to put a chamfer on the end of the pipe. The square cut end is making it hard to insert the pipe into the rubber seal. A good chamfer on the end of the pipe and it will slide in with no problem.

Gina needs to get some seat time in all the equipment. There's no reason she can't be a skilled operator. Daughters can run farm and construction equipment too. Not only will it move the work along faster to have more operators, but there will be new people to tune in to see it. Who's with me here? Show some love. 👍

Get the old hose repaired as a spare. Also get a clean tarp in the tool kit so when you are working you are not dragging stuff through the dirt and if you drop anything you can find it 👍

    • @williamdegnan4718

I agree. It wouldn't hurt to have a long spare hose and some extra fittings so you can go right back to work.

Definitely doing pipe joins better, glad to see you took that other bloke's advice from last week when they told you to twist the pipes to spread the glue inside as you join them. You've nearly got the hang of all that now. Be well.

Plenty of rocks for Gina. The pile of clay looked hard to break into even with the TYM. Everything looks really nice you two. It was very interesting to watch you build your own septic system. It has to feel great to have that done and you know where everything is too. You got it done way before the freezing temps so that is a huge bonus. Just backfilling the pipe now. Final grade too! Good save with fixing that hydraulic line. Lots done today. Thanks for this Al and Gina.

We bought our land in 2004. Soon after we had our excavator dig some test holes. We found that there is not enough topsoil to build a septic system. After a conversation with the State Environmentalist, we started hauling in material. About 60 loads initially. Our septic tank is literally in the center of rock. It took an entire day with a CAT 320 Trackhoe with a 6" hammer to dig that hole. When all was said and done, about 100 loads of material were hauled in. And after 6 years, we still can haul more material to finalize the shape of our land around the house.

Maybe a little late, butI noticed that you cut the pipes square and just clean off the roughness before fitting them. Try to take a course file and slant the outside of the pipe a little before glueing and the pipe will slide in place much more easily. That also goes when pushing a pipe through a rubber grommet as the edge won't catch.

FYI all when installing PVC pipe, it's a good practice to have the printed portion up. It is not code, as far as I understand it. It would help later if there was a problem, when you dig it up(heavens forbid) you could easily identify the type/manufacture/date /etc of pipe.

    Good Morning LUMNAH ACRES ..
AL , GINA , OLIVIA , & of course FIGARO 🐈..... Hope you don't mind a little friendly advice but , I think in the long run it will help... Coming from a Crane Operator of 45 yrs experience , you can use an Adjustable wrench when in close quarters to run a fitting off or on AFTER it is loosened , But NEVER EVER use an Adjustable wrench to either BREAK FREE or FINAL TIGHTEN any Hydraulic Fitting because of possiblity of warping or deforming that fitting even if it doesn't leak now it might in future. Also if you believe it doesn't matter because it's a bad Jose just being thrown away it is still connected to another fitting that is not bad or damaged yet which just may not be the case after getting mauled by your Adjustable wrench .....Always use proper FITTINGS WRENCHES on your Hydraulic Lines ...Also , here's a tip to make your life easier when changing Hyd Lines , Buy a Double Male Hyd Fitting same size as your hose ... Once you've broken you line free connect the NEW HOSE to the one you're getting ready to pull out & it will pull the NEW HOSE smoothly right into place , ( Slick Huh ? ) Pull once , you're done ....Try that next time , I think you'll appreciate that tip ......ALSO , I've observed how hard GINA works alongside you AL , doing tough manual labor , you do have an exceptional Wife Al , not one who's afraid of hard work & working alongside her Husband in all kinds of Bad weather along with the good ...I believe you should Reward Her for all her hard work & just being the Great Wife She is by maybe Gifting her a RELAXING SPA DAY @ some local place for a whole day of taking care of her...... The least you could do for as much as She does ...........
Love All you Guys , & May GOD BLESS EVERYONE of YOU ...🙏🙏🙏

When you’re solving cementing any PVC pipe, make sure you bevel the edge on the end of the pipe. The square/sharp edge will invariably leave scratch lines which could become leak paths and could cause the pipe to come apart down the road, it also makes it a lot easier to join pipe together. Great job on all your hard work.
