      I would say the best gun of the Second World War. It was not for nothing that he was in service with both German paratroopers and British commandos. From modern CZ-75 B.

      This year of manufacture was what the UK reserves had from 1944 with Canadian Inglis guns. Understand the Germans had all of the Belgian Browning's made at that time. Hope the regulars got more recent manufactured ones. Ours were hard to qualify with. 25m targets with a 50 year old one was a challenge. Our FN FALs were wood stocked Korea issue and similarly challenging to qualify at the range with. Shot new issue plastic stocked ones on one range day at depot and were amazed how tight and how accurately they shot when new.

      I trained on the Browning HP back in the 80s. It’s like pissing in the wind. I’d rather bring more ammo for my main weapon. Pistols are like a long range bayonet for the energetic man.

    The emergence of the gun drill Mozambique technique was a thing that birthed in the numerous post colonial wars of Africa. And was a necessary numerous shots technique because of fmj 9mm.
    Never really was a requirement with .45 ACP Colt 1911. America always favored issueing larger bore handguns to its cavalry. Look at .44 Colt Walker & .54 Dragoon 1842 pistols.

      The Tokarev was already inspired by another browning design, and the Hi power was designed around 1925.
      It was completed and produced a decade later because Browning died and there were some patent issues.

      @@user-fr9ro3ir8c sure they are, but comparatively there are many more powerful bullets than 9 mm that could have been given the name "hi power" I think 10 mm is much more deserving of that name.

      @@imJohnnyCox10mm Auto didn't exist when this was designed. Also, most of Browning's handgun designs up to this point had been .32 ACP or similarly small cartridges, so 9mm was relatively powerful. Plus, many nations used cartridges weaker than 9mm for their pistols.

    • @ThisShitDontFlush
      @ThisShitDontFlush 4 місяці тому

      You don’t know that John Browning is the actual person that gave the pistol that particular name. The guy that worked on it (Dieudonne’ Saive) for years after browning died could have inserted his input in its final name?

  • @Simplemansnature

    On a pistol that old, you should replace the springs if you intend on firing it. And only should fire standard pressure ammo.
