This is the most dynamic sounding movie I have ever purchased! There are so many examples to choose from, but when "Powder" enters to fight in the gladiator arena and the crowd is cheering and the announcer is getting everyone hyped up, I could not believe how incredible it sounded! Atmos overheads, subs, and surrounds all on overdrive and in concert to produce the most epic home theater experience I've ever heard in my life!
Just watched this on my Sony HT-A9 and LG OLED and *WOW* Best sounding movie I’ve watched yet at home, this one was epic! The ending had amazing sound that blew me away. I’ll have a review on my chan when I get some time
Also waited to see this in my home theater. Totally agree! Fantastic and immersive sound. Next video you should talk about the video transfer. Best I have seen…
Wow your videos keep impressing me, thanks, I totally agree Epic sound from Dune 1 n 2. I wish you lived on my block and we could compare our systems, then I could definitely know what I need to improve on next, keep up the good work.
You waited?!!!! I luckily had a real Imax theater 1.5 hours away from me and so I went there to experience that. Just because I don't know when we'll get an Imax crop for home. There still isn't an Imax version for part 1.
Best old school tv show that's been converted to HD is "The Dick Van Duke Show" on Prime Video, I have a 80" Sharp Aquos tv and that show looks and sounds excellent.
I love when a movie or show gets restored and you think “why would they restore that?” Then you see how amazing it looks and you’re like “ahhh, I see….”
On a separate note, given you did the DSOTM Atmos review with your wife, I hope you’re getting Floyd’s Animals album as that too is remastered in Atmos and on its release (not received mine yet - should be here after weekend) - I had read that on its launch, Nick Mason commented that he was hearing things he’d hadn’t known were there when it was recorded!
@@GeorgeTheaterAtHomemy copy of Animals arrived yesterday. Had a listen, my thoughts are mixed. It’s good but nowhere as good as DSOTM. Also, in the set up, there’s a bit about listening in 5.1, which requires you to move your sides to back, but on testing the speakers, I found left and right sides AND left and right rears were outputting, but on the disc it should be just left and right side, so I think the disc is badly encoded as I’ve no issues with Atmos movies and when testing outputs, my AVR outputs correctly to left side, left rear, right side right rear, as it should be! Will be interested to hear your views in due course. 👍👍
The film budgets are blamed but I cannot believe they don’t pad those numbers. I do believe that funding does disappear throughout padded production costs. Poor project management kills the creativity for sound. The other killer is the scheduled clock to get it in theaters. Sound designers don’t have the time. They have a good enough to play in a crappy theater mentality.
Same thing here. I waited until home release to get the movie and was not disappointed. My local imax is about an hour away but my home system sounds better than it.
Whoa sounds brilliant 🤩 thank you for the heads-up on Dune 2 Haven’t watched Dune 1 yet waiting for my son to come watch it with me for he asked if I had it on 4K Dolby Atmos 👍🏼 Because he has not got Dolby Atmos only DENON AVR 2311, 7.2 channels old school but still a kick 🦵 ass system 👍🏼🏴🇬🇧
You really missed out by not watching this in the cinema. I don’t know if you have a IMAX in your town, but if you have you missed out on an amazing audio experience. The IMAX bass was crazy.
@@Richie131hun. Maybe because it’s in a more confined space. My local IMAX has floor “shakers”. Watched Interstellar there a few months ago. When the rocket took off you could feel your hair moving
Other thing if you have a Panasonic-dp-ub9000 the sound quality is best using its internal dacs for 7.1 audio. Neither my Sony-az7000es or my retired Yamaha sounded as good using their dacs.
Ok what should i do ? watch it on netflix with dolby atmos or is sound quality better on bluray ?? I have the x6700h with 5.1.4 setup (in ceiling speakers)
@@GeorgeTheaterAtHome Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Atmos are both audio technologies, but they have different features1: Dolby TrueHD is a surround sound audio format that delivers high-quality, lossless audio. For an immersive movie-watching experience, Dolby TrueHD is a better choice. For realistic sound effects, Dolby Atmos is recommended.
@@GeorgeTheaterAtHome Thanks. I find it odd that in the product desciptions, they never say anything about the audio formats, or am I missing something. I'd think that would be important info to provide. Thanks again.
I don't know why so many critics think Dune 2: has reference sound. Sure the surrounds are good but the sound is too subtle. The Dune part 1 4K blows this one away when it comes to immersive sound. I do agree the image quality is very impressive. The warm hues and other earthy tones do pop. The black white scenes are impressive as well. I don't know I was kind of let down by audio for this one. I wonder does anyone in the comments agree with me.
I still didn't hear Dune 2 in my home theater but I must say I wasn't that impressed with Part One. Sure it was loud and active but that's it. Wall of sound for me. I have watched both parts in IMAX and it wasn't better. On the other hand Civil War sound in IMAX was really great. Tomorrow I will watch Dune Part Two on my system, I'm hoping for the best.
you and all rest maybe , that is not an epic movie soundtrack had it been 1960's it would have used directional across 70mm five screen wide speakers , i saw this at bh2 odeon bournemouth screen 7 , dolby 7.1 , JBL professional and it was atrocious sounding ! just dB unsafe deafening as screen 10 isense atmos that i would never go in that screen again or in fact ever go to bh2 again , as ex retired projectionist cinema spl dB have gotten to point of intolerable where i have to wear earplugs as the HF horns are way over 85dBA limit ! otherwise i wouldn't need to wear earplugs , i never buy this ., sound mix was rubbish , no serious directional dialog no buy , sound effects rubbish don't care if it went down to 0.1Hz at silly spl level
Dune 2 is so boring and to make it worse is most of the movie isn't in English full of Subtitles??? I Hated that. I gave the movie away. Plus the Atmos was almost unnoticeable.

Best way I can describe the experience, I was buzzing physically and mentally. Total immersion. Tension building was master class.
I saw it in Dolby theater 3 times. I never done that before on any movie in my life. Loved it.
Me too. I saw it 3 times at the dolby cinema. It's an excellent soundtrack and even better piece of filmmaking!
Dune Part 1 and 2 both are really great movies.

The 4K disc is the best quality (video and audio) available.
Streamed sound is usually pretty poor, even versus Blu-ray. I'd watch it on 4K Blu-ray.
I just not comfortable with ambient sound in this movie which I thought too strong and i hope to hear a sound from from what happen in the movie more.
I bought the 4k version but a little disappointed the audio was only Atmos no other formats were available.
What format would you have liked to be included?
