Thank you so much for doing the review I was asking you to do it for ages all the reviews of the mtx3 is at 13 meters so thanks for the honesty big bird 🐦
You’re welcome Dan… it’s brilliant at 13m, but why buy a 16m pole to just use it at 13m? I’d rather buy a better 13m pole for the money if I’m only going to use the 13… it’s a 16m pole… so really, needs reviewing at 16 🤷🏻♂️ BB
You only get what you pay for, The extra 14m 16m is what you pay the extra money for, It's worth the money if you only fish up to 13m,and have a tight budget, It's been out a few years nw, So most poles have a shelf life,as poles are improving all the time. Eventually all poles will be usable at 14 and 16 m lengths, and will be made so you can use them like a margin pole at these lengths, too They are starting to make these all round poles nw, Gurus new pole ,and the new maver are examples, Great video bb,
@@davep6286 Hopefully get bb to do one, Gurus reviews have only come from sponsored anglers and sponsored magazines These videos are a better way of judging poles, tackle in general
You’re right Kirk… by right, it’s a 16m pole… that’s why I reviewed it as so… and ultimately, that’s the reason people buy it, like you say, to get the 14/16 reachability… but it is a bit left to be desired! Let me know if you hunt down one of those Guru poles to review 😆 BB
Well, after a year i suffered what a lot of MTX3 owners suffered. Clean break in the middle of a No4 section whilst playing a mid sized Carp. I also had an Ultra 1 power top kit break in two places. It definitely seems that the carbon gets weaker over time, and the breakages come thick and fast. I bought a No4 section from an MTX2 to replace the busted one, which is a much stronger section. I've been looking for ages to get an MTX2 No3 section but can't find any anywhere. I use the No3 section from an MTX margin pole as I do not have much confidence in the standard No3 section.
Well done fella great review don't forget if you fish it at a normal 13 mtrs it's hard to beat even with the top of the range poles keep up the good work
Thanks so much Phillip… it’s brilliant at 13m, but why buy a 16m pole to just use it at 13m? It’s a 16m pole… so really, it needed reviewing at 16 🤷🏻♂️ but I agree, it’s more than usable for 5 hours at 13m… so is the MTX2 👍🏻 BB
Hi BB, great unbiased review as per norm. As it’s winter and you were fishing for smaller fish with the 10-12 elastic did you have a power top kit or the match top kit as match is rated to 12 elastic ? Secondly I have used MTX3 for the last near 3 years, I always use it with the short 3 section as this stiffens it up when fishing long. 100% about heavy at 16m so mostly finish up a max 14m. Good work BB have a great Christmas 🎅
Hi Rob… power top kit mate, I use the powers all the time really… I also use a short 3, which works lovely! But, the point of the review is that it’s a 16m pole, and that’s really the reason why you buy it 🤷🏻♂️ the 10-12 worked fantastic! Thanks for your support! 👍🏻 BB
As per what Phillip Smith says, The MTX 3 is very much a very good and comfortable Pole at 13 Meters which lets be honest is the average distance most of us fish at. I think it is not a pole to conpare to the MTX 4. The MAP 1001, The Preston 90 etc. Good review Mate.
Thanks for the kind words Peter… it’s brilliant at 13m, but why buy a 16m pole to just use it at 13m? I’d rather buy a better 13m pole for the money if I’m only going to use the 13… it’s a 16m pole… so really, needs reviewing at 16 🤷🏻♂️ It is very good at 13 though… just so heavy. 😣 BB
I had an mtx3, it's was brilliant but brittle! The last time I used it I was cupping a small ball of groundbait using the small cup 11m and my no4 snapped clean in half! That was the 3rd no4 that has gone on me. Day to day the pole was amazing for the money, managed to land double figure carp no problem. Great up to 14.5 then it goes a bit.
I agree Ricky… past 13m it’s a bit of a jelly pole, but so heavy… I’ve not had any issues with the sections to be fair… but great contribution to let us know that the Pole isn’t all plain sailing 👍🏻 BB
I thought you said you weren’t going to cup that bait in mate 😂😂. Try shipping the pole across your thighs, it will give you a much more stable and solid base which in turn will minimise the bounce on your cupping kit 👍. Happy Christmas 🎄
Haha, I replied to several comments like this one Ashley! Love how it provided some entertainment… the pole rollers weren’t set up that I could roll it across my thighs 😆 I’d put the rollers far too high, not realised, then hit record 🤦🏻♂️haha, nightmare… I thought whilst editing “well that looks professional!” 😆 BB
I have tried only once to fish my MTX3 at 16 metres, and as you say, it's hard. I couldn't do it for more than half an hour. Even at 14.5metres it's not exactly comfortable. However, fitting a short 3 at 14.5 metres. It changes the pole dramatically.
I really don't understand the manufacturer's tactics here. Why make a 16m pole that is un-usable, seems like they all do it so they can market that they have a pole to suit everyone in their range? I'm guessing most people use at max 13m, so why not just get a 13m pole and save some cash or invest in a better 13m? In my mind it's only worth buying a 16m if you spend the big bucks!
It’s a good point Pricey… it does give you the option of 16m… it’s just difficult to fish at that distance for a long time… there is definitely a difference between the base 16m models and the flagships 👍🏻 BB
@@FirstTimeFishing gotta be honest here, i do think its great, fished it at 14,5 and havent had porblems at all, lifted and dropped, 16 metres its heavy but far from unusable.
Thanks for taking the time to comment crazyfishd1crazyfishd189 👍🏻 on any of the Pole reviews on first time fishing, I always cup out some bait to see the bounce, strength and stiffness of the pole… if you watch the X90 review, you’ll see the pole bend and bounce like a 3 year old on a blow up castle… yet the MAP 1001 and MTX 5 handled a cup of bait superbly… appreciate your support on the channel, tight lines 👍🏻 BB
NO pole no matter what the price likes the cupping kit with a ball of groundbait ,, if you watch any reviews on the top of the range daiwa and guru poles they look horrible with balls of groundbait .. Weight is important, but balance is much more critical ..if it has good balance and is crisp then you will not notice the weight .. it looks good for the price ..but you get what you pay for and if you pay a grand for a pole you will struggle at longer lengths otherwise no flagship 4000 pound poles would be needed..

Alright Jon, it’s my own song, lyrics written by a mate, then sang and played by me 😆, wrote it in 2007, called “Life beneath the Bell Tower” 👍🏻 BB
MTX3 Ultra or superium x50 or superium Carp?
I need help.
I want 16 m pole around 1000 pounds. Thanks for answer
I would go for the mtx3 rn as you can buy newer spares then vor the mtx3 v2
Also i like the package more

What’s it like at 14.5 please
It’s ok, not bad at all… even better at 14m by swapping out the number 3 for a short number 3 👍🏻 BB
