  • In this video I unbox, review, and share some recipes for the Almond Cow. This is a great product if you are looking into making your own plant-based milk at home and begin a more sustainable living.
    Current favorite Almond + Oats recipe:
    Fill tank to the max line with water. Add almonds to the blending cup to below the 1 line then fill up the rest with oats. Add a pinch of salt and a 1/2 or 1 tablespoon of date syrup. Blend twice and it’s ready!

    The problem with the Almond Cow is this: The machine allows no flexibility because it works on a fixed water to almond ratio. The 5 cup water amount at the minimum fill line and the 1 cup almond cup creates a watery mix. It’s like weak coffee, it tastes horrible. Even if you run the cycle twice it doesn’t help. The only thing that helps is making a batch of “cream” which is just one more cup of almonds mixed in the plastic cup and adding that to your original batch. And you still need to use a nut bag to get the extra milk! That’s too too much work, defeating the purpose of buying an extra machine. In the blender you can put 2 cups of almonds and 7 cups of water and you get a perfect 1/2 gallon of almond milk. The design ratio of the Almond Cow is off.

    Great review. Thank you. I use a blender and nut milk bag. Your the 1 at one that suggested to blend twice, so much is left behind if only blending once. I also use warm weather instead of cold because it helps the fats/oils in the nuts extract easier

      you could just blend the pulp up in the blender and add it to your milk recipe after you’re done, you could add a few more ingredients in the blender with the pulp to add more flavor and it definitely will make the milk creamier ❤

    Great video! Just wanted, obviously this stays best when consumed within a week, but my question is for the store bought shelved and sealed almond milks. On the containers, most say they are good until a year(Until they are opened) Is this because They are air sealed? Or is it because they add thickening agents to them? I don't think thickening agents act as preservatives which extend the shelf life. So, that is why I was asking. Thanks

    So it can have some grain left over? I really hate that..my nut bag get rids of the grain. But I want a faster option. So in your opinion is the almond cow still worth it?

    • @MindfulHome
      @MindfulHome  3 роки тому +1

      Hello! Yes, I think the almond cow is 100% worth it for our family. We’ve used it for a few months now and we haven’t bought milk at the store since then. Milk is done so quick and it is always delicious. But unfortunately, it does have some tiny grains/sediment left when you make it. We’ve gotten used to it though and I believe there are ways to avoid it by soaking your nuts first. Hope that helps!

    Just a thought, could you just then just get the recipes, use a blender (aka saving $250), and then filter it out into a bottle? All the machine looks to be is a blender with a filter.

      Hey Connor! You can definitely do that and it would work just as good. Similar to how you can toast bread in your oven and also in your toaster. Different appliance, just one is more focused on a specific task so it's quicker and more convenient. Hope that helps!
