While it's certainly _possible_ that Dave's parents *intentionally* named him after "both an apostle of Jesus Christ and the king of Israel", I have no fkn idea what that would have to do with Dave being an atheist... My dad named me after the infant daughter of a sit-com character he found hilarious... Also creationist 'scientist' is an oxymoron.
I like how they keep calling him "David James", like that's some sort of gotcha. It reminds me of the 2008 election, where Obama's political opponents continuously used his middle name.
Well, Dave didn't write any of the bible, so it's not worth watching his content. Most creationists haven't even read their own bible. They just regurgitate the information their rich grifting mega church leaders spew. Pass the plate! 😂

my comment to those two went like this ''hi, i am a general physicist, and as much as i love physics i love art because i am also an artist, so i studied simulations, which i use to simulate things academically and use my education in simulation engines to make video games, i Actually had to get a 2nd degree in digital arts for that , and video games and any rendering of visual effects is art, does that mean i failed in physics ? no, some times people who work in science communications do jobs that bridge fields together and makes science more accessible to the public just as much as it does to people from unrelated fields, and how do we do that ? using things like art because when you study art, you study how humans see, understand and visualize things, art is the bridge between science and laymen in majority of cases and even in special conditions for people who are in very esoteric fields, the fact that you dont seem to understand this and want to make it a point against Dave goes to show how out of touch you are from any practical application of information and science, and what it means to be in a multifaceted field if you would like we can go over every nonsense thing you said, but the fact that you started the video by attacking the credentials of some one who dadicated time and energy to learn a discipline with your fake elitism as if your field does not work the same way goes to show how fake you are''
It really annoys me how they keep calling him David James like it's some insult. Instead it just makes them look like petty children who also don't understand what names are. Who calls people by their first and middle names? It's so awkward. If they really insist on the childish name game they should just call him David. The logic behind their insults is as strong as the logic defending their faith, so at least they're intellectually consistent.

There is a reason why I have only ever attended church for funerals, and got married in a registry office. Having never been expected to accept claims that couldn't be demonstrated to be factual, the Christian horsemen of the apocalypse fell at the first hurdle.

I should mention, since we've started following the scientific method, not a single scientific theory has been completely proven false, but has instead been REFINED. They're acting like refining makes all science invalid, but anyone with half a brain cell knows that refinement is a critical part of any quality process. They know so little, they don't even know how little they know. That's where that awful arrogance comes from.

"Insect and even simple animal life is most likely to be extremely rare in the entire universe, and again that's because of all the fine-tuning that we see in the universe"? How can he not hear the contradiction? Life is so rare because the universe is so finetuned (for life)?
I think they're claiming something like The Ark and the Darkness does, that water sprang forth from the deep in a catastrophic eruption. That kind of force would definitely cause rocks to fly into space. The problem is... that never happened!
IIRC, the guy who wrote that book is a scientist, but is also a god believer who was trying to make life improbable in support of OEC. I think one of the big factors was the claim that life couldn't form without a big moon causing tides. Sure.

While we don't really know why Venus rotates on its axis backward, with suggestions of things like a collision with another large body, or possible tidal forces on the very thick atmosphere dragging the planet slower or a combination of things. We do know, though, that it orbits the Sun in the same direction as all the other planets, which is from the spiraling in of the nebula that formed our solar system. If Venus orbited the Sun the opposite direction, that would be a problem for science to solve, but the rotation of the planet has many potential explanations that don't refute the nebula model of planetary formation.

Uhmm... yes, Tour behaves like an animal in that debate, but so does Mr. Farina. He attacks not only his opponent explicitly calling him a liar, fraud etc (which even if true doesn't help keeping the debate civilized), but also being openly aggressive and condescending towards the audience for daring to applaud the other party with disgusting remarks like: "you don't understand sh*t". Is this the way to "teach and educate" to you? Being correct doesn't justify any of that. Mr. Farina has no right whatsoever to call himself professor, sorry. How can an engineer possibly not think that modifying ideas based on new information is a valuable strategy? Should we just base all modern engineering on our understandings of material science from the 2nd century? When a dam fails due to some overlooked or misunderstood principle of engineering should we not study it, and adjust the our understanding and change our best practices? It’s actually kind of concerning that an engineer would think this way. I just hope he doesn’t design anything that anyone’s lives depend on…
He literally was a professor. He taught chemistry at a college. In the US, people who teach college-level classes in a subject are called professors. Ergo, Dave is, or at least was, a professor. His level of education doesn't factor onto it at all. One of the people who taught history at the university I went to only had a Master's. What did I call him? PROFESSOR! In the US its a title of respect, not academic achievement.
Venus in retrograde usually refers to the planet's orbit and the observation as Venus appears to move one way and then backward in the sky from the Earth's perspective (it can also refer to the rotation). Which was a problem for the geocentric model because it made predicting a planet's position in the sky very difficult. Which is why astronomers (scientists) realised the Earth must revolve around the sun and the heliocentric model was the correct one. Another example of science having to adjust a hypothesis to fit the observations - because that's what science does. And unsurprisingly the heliocentric model was probably delayed for over 1500 years or so because of ... religion. The Catholic church called it heresy that the Earth wasn't the centre of the universe. It took over 100 years for Copernicus theory (a devout Catholic) based on a mathematical model to be widely accepted. But the idea of the Sun being the centre of the solar system had actually been proposed as early as the 3rd Century BC. Now, on to Venus's rotation (which is basically half a Venus year). Why is it the opposite of every other planet? And so slow? Well it ain't a Creator. The current theory, which seems to work with models, is not that it was hit by something that spun it backwards as ridiculed by our not so young creationists. No, it's the friction created by the solar wind on Venus's very thick atmosphere, caused by it's very weak magnetosphere.

Is this the way to "teach and educate" to you? Being correct doesn't justify any of that. Mr. Farina has no right whatsoever to call himself professor, sorry. Personally I find it quite dishonest too and I'm willing to bet that if it was a creationist doing it you would have something to object. How about Kent Hovind, for example?
Seeing several guys i know, who trained constantly and were in incredibly good shape get on roids to get bigger was a sad thing to see. They were all in their mid to late 20s. Its tragic seeing it happen to people
Notice that they seem to be implying that if there is a disagreement about the universe being 13.7 billion years old versus 13.4 billion years old it must mean that it is actually 6,000 years old? Creationists do this all the time.
"His (James tour) gentleman like introduction and post script"
That is a very nice way to say: He tried to sweet talk dave, screamed like a lunatic for 95% of the debate and then tried to end of with an appeal to pity.
A flat earther who believes in evolution is lying about one of those beliefe 100% of the time
