“I’ll outlive you anyway so it’ll trouble you no further” 🔥 💀
😂😂😂😂
🫢😨🥶
. 🔥
😂❤
That, she did 💔
Umbridge and McGonagall have swapped sides!
She isnt THAT bad
😂
Those two!❤
Exactly my thoughts
Was exactly about to say the same things it’s mad scary seeing her not scream 😂
I NEVER argue I EXPLAIN!!.. THIS ABSOLUTELY SLAYED ME
Same! 😂
Me too
😂I'm gonna use this line at work...when my boss goes off on me!!! ❤❤❤😂😂😂
Exactly!!!@@claudetteearle3052
Yes, I love this phrase.
The Dowager Countess was arguably the best thing about this magnificent show. All her lines were zingers and Dame Maggie Smith never failed to deliver them perfectly.
And she disliked the show
Indeed.
@jillfurman8904 she did not dislike the show (if she disliked it she wouldn't have done it for six seasons and two movies), she just hated how she became Famous and lost some of her privacy after doing this and the Harry Potter franchise.
She was a personal friend of our late Queen. They regularly had tea together at Buckingham palace.
@@theoutlook55 she openly stated she disliked the premise of the show and was sorry she signed on.
For me, she's unarguably the best thing in that show. For an exquisite rendering of this Maggie Smith character supported by equally interesting costars and a fantastic script, see the excellent 2001 Robert Altman film "Gosford Park".
for a second i was like "why tf are Dolores Umbridge and Professor McGonagall chilling having tea in tiaras??"😭😆
Two heavyweight British actresses exchange punches
Only waiting for Judi Dench to walk in ( just a joke, I know she was not in DA)
@@patrician3821 not yet anyway, although the way British television is going they’ll probably have floella Benjamin in first
Excellence......the best of the best.
The second time they did.
@@joebloggs8422 Nice drop of casual racism there, 'Joe'. 🙄
These women make MAGIC every time they are on screen together. Absolute legends
They make magic even when they are not together.
I will miss you, Mrs. McGonagall ❤❤❤ I always wanted a teacher like you. ❤❤❤ Rest in peace, my lady from a boy in Arizona. ❤❤❤
Totally agree, I love them
"It is lucky for Ms. Smith that I do not OWN a saber.."😂😂 Violet kills me everytime
With her saber? 😂
It makes me think of the Star Wars parade the cast made where she did have a sabar😂
Lucy was her illegitimate first child.
One and only child
I'm going to introduce "piffle" into my vocabulary now. 😂
Fun fact for everyone Imelda Staunton (lady Bagshaw) is married to Jim Carter (Carson) in real life
They are very sweet together!
Interesting
I love this fact, thank you for sharing
And they make a great inside joke about it in the second movie.
Their daughter plays Prudence Featherington on Bridgerton ❤
the maid Lucy Smith is actually her daughter.
Is that true? Because I’ve googled it and Imelda Staunton‘s daughter is named Bessie, while the actress credited as Lucy Smith is named Tuppence Middlton
@@jollyfighter7319the character Lucy Smith is this character's daughter, not in real life
@@LouisaLouisaful ah, got it! Thank you!
What? 😮
@@kylaarmstrong-benjamin8066illegitimate daughter hence why she was hidden away as a maid
No one could play that part like our lovely Maggie Smith...What an actress.. ❤
I agree! She made the show great!
Basically this is the only type of role Maggie Smith ever plays.....she probably has a copyright on it 🤣
@@brettsprang7991 snd why not..shes a national treasure, same as Judy Dench.
@@bobbiebudds560 Judy Dench has a much broader range than Maggie Smith.
Can't believe she went so suddenly. Rest in peace, Dame Maggie Smith, Ma'am.
Oh my! She just told Violet she’ll die before the maid inherits. She must be fast because I wouldn’t dare take on Violet! Love the dowager countess! My favorite character.
If I had a penny every time these two ladies have fought verbally in a movie franchise I would have two pennies which isnt a lot but its interesting that it had happened twice
Wasn't her maid Lucy, actually her daughter? I seem to remember that.
Yes
*gasp*
...
I love it. “I never argue, I explain.” I will use it in the future. 😂
Me too!!!
I also like, what piffle you talk!!!!
Do you get into a lot of arguments to need to use it
"Anything you'd like to say Minerva?" "O there are several things I would like to say!"
😂😂 I just had that same thought. apparently they already had beef from a previous life
Umbrigge isn't one of her deepest friends. in the movie "Tea with the dames" (Watch IT and you will know what I mean)I hat the Feeling Judi Dench is her best friend, but idk. Umbridge wasn't even there.
I'm German, sry for my Bad english.
Supposedly these actors really liked working together.
That makes me feel kinda warm and fuzzy inside.
They were so good together.
@@Oma_WetterwachsThey're all friends, but yes, Judi Dench and Maggie Smith were particularly close.
Hahah lol the Dowager kills me every time but she has lost this battle 😂😂😂😂
To treat your maid like a blood relative😂😂😂heavens forbid😂😂😂
thing is, the maid was actually her blood relative lol
The maid is her daughter
What an Honorable Woman ❤🎉❤😢
I never argue, I explain. Now that ladies and gentlemen is Violet summed up in one sentence!❤❤❤❤
That and "If I could choose between principle and logic, I'd take principle every time"
Umbridge: Minerva, are you questioning my authority?
McGonagall: No, Dolores, merely the (lack, here?) mediaeval practices.
Umbridge: This might sound silly but it sounds like you're questioning my authority, Minerva
McGonagall: Not at all Dolores, merely your medieval methods
"I'll outlive you anyway."
I can just imagine Umbridge saying that and McGonagall responding with living twice as long as Nicolas Flamel did and then going to Umbridge's tomb and smirk. "You were saying?"
Who wouldve figured umbridge would be the nicer one
A lot of folks do see Ms Staunton as Umbridge.
@@guidichris And that is sad. She is so much more than that role.
@@flav2689She was wonderful in "That Day We Sang".
"To treat a maid like a member of the family!"
Says the woman who comes from a family where they accepted a chauffer as a member of the family.
This was one of the greatest scenes ever. Maggie Smith's out did herself in this one I'm going to remember her words. Every single word so one day if I need I can use that beautiful comeback
Maggie Smith is so delightful as the Dowager. My favorite in this series. She is indeed a National Treasure and the reason I began watching Downton. I never tire of watching each episode. Execellent production!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The Dowager is my favorite character in the entire series. Her wit is unmatched!
What an interchange… beautiful “piffle”. Great writing.
But this is the way the British talk anyway... they really use their language.
Maggie Smith is amazing
Both fantastic performances- Imelda is a brilliant character actress. Check her out in David Copperfield, Cranford. Her vocal capabilities- chef’s kiss!!
Maleficent, too! 🧚
They should take their argument to Dumbledore. He will know what to do.
Always, Professor McGonagle and Umbridge beefing 🤣🤣
I was thinking the same thing!!
I read about a famous Hollywood actress who did something like that, adopted her own daughter. As someone said, it was not that uncommon. Also much younger “brothers” or “sisters” to a teenage girl.
Loretta Young. The child's father is Clark Gable
@@LindaJones-gq6bb thanks 😊
Maggie Smith... priceless
I Just love the Downton Abbey series. Beautifully done. 👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
Piffle!! Hahahaaaa
How British is that??!!??
Love this show!!
I side with McGonagall against Umbridge, but I side with Maud over Violet!
"What piffle you talk."
Ouch!
"I never argue. I explain!"
Oooh!
A great scene!
I never argue, I explain is a legendary line.
Lucy her maid is her biological daughter
How did you come to that conclusion? In England, the son always inherited the estate.

Maid Lucy Smith....Is her Daughter...She also Married Tom Branson.. In the last Downton Film.. Lucy and Tom had a baby Son...Lucy is little Sybie's Step mom..
Thank you!!! I had stopped watching DA after things went darker for awhile. Maybe I’ll catch up!
Ive never watched Downton Abbey as I don't have a television. But I did go to see the film with friends earlier this year. I'm thinking now that maybe i should see if I can borrow the DVDs from my local library. The costumes are wonderful.
Watch them on ur phone.
Lucy umis her daughter, I think!😮
RIP DAME MAGGIE SMITH. You will be so very missed. I have enjoyed your talent that you shared with our world for years. May God keep you in His Peace 🩷🙏⚘️
What a kind woman to care for the person who cared for her.
Her Maid was actually her illegitimate daughter, who at that time she couldn't officially recognise
En fait , c'est sa fille qu'elle a eu hors mariage !
I loved Maggie Smith in the role of the Dowager Countess. She will be dearly missed. R. I. P.
I wish I could sit around in my house and wear a tiara every day……
Find a way to make it happen, even if it's only for an hour a week. Everyone deserves some tiara time.

For a moment I thought Iwas watching Shorts from "The Crown" then Prof. Gonagle pops in!😂😅😂

So nice to see them working together again
How things have changed! Minerva explaining to Dolores why house elves are not supposed to be masters...
the maid is better than Lady Mary tbh
It amazing that Imelda Staunton can play this character and the Late QE2
Imelda Staunton s husband is head of staff
and Umbridge
And is a heavyweight musical theater performer!
And now I must become her majesty)))
Attend
@carolslade9600 I was referring to the role Imelda Staunton played in The Crown. A bit of play-on-words.

Umbridge and mc gonagall part 2, different people.
Love this woman on DA. Loved DA. Best show on television 👍👍👍
Umbridge got no chill
McGonagall was like bruh wtf
Mrs Smith: Something you'd like to say, dear?
Dowager: Oh there are several things I would like to say!
More of those with wealth or in power should appreciate the people that take care of them. I'm tired of blood mattering especially when blood is spoiled and deserves it in no way.
Nooo, that’s Umbridge.
Oh, there are several things I would like to say!!
