I caught a Redfin in a puddle about the size of a wheelbarrow. I was so surprised! I relocated the little fella into a bigger pond. If I didn’t prospect in that little puddle that Redfin would have definitely died. Prospecting saves lives!!!
    Great pody Andrew👍👍

Similarly, James, the creek was in flood but a little redfin was lying on it's side in the grass, as the flood level had dropped, walking by at the right moment, we'd palmed the fish back into the stream. We'd like to eat it when it grows up! Bony but tasty English perch. On the other hand, exploring with the gang of nieces and nephews, came by two giant European carp in the metal walled waterway rubbish trap, too big to pass through, too slippery to catch, had to throw boulders at them to kill them, they're such vandals to the waterways. The kids already knew if you catch a carp it's illegal to put it back. Only way that they got to the creek was illegally, can't jump a 3 metre drainage underpass, or illegally stocked farm dams that bushfire helicopters draw their buckets from to drop on fires, but that was 2009, we watched this as 6 houses two hills away burnt down. The same creek headwaters used to be ace to explore, nature, gems, gold, now expensive houses and the creek is now choked up with arum lilies and other weeds and no one there seems to give a shit. The stuff is poisonous, grows so well where they'd contoured the creek bends with rock walls. Ruined our gold creek!

@@gabivalla6279 the urban sprawl has affected lots of little creeks and waterways with some of them completely gone altogether. When I was a little tacker I spent a lot of time at our local creeks catching minnows and tadpoles with my cousins, now those creeks have been completely built over with no sign that there was ever a waterway there.
Carp make great burley but that’s all they’re good for. Last year I was adventuring through the Grampians and came across a stagnant old pond in a dry creek bed that was full of goldfish/ carp. Sad to see in one of our most beautiful national parks. We didn’t get any rain for 12 months after that so I’m guessing they became bird food 👍

Onya, Andrew. As one who's drawn to waterways more than open parklands, taking care of where we go matters, seems there's less sense to be good custodians of suburban creeks, and once they're ruined by weeds, rubbish dumping, native plants and wildlife gone, Melbourne Water comes along, clears and levels everything, and no drawcards to these areas are left. Take away the bush, and the bushwalker becomes a likely criminal casing the neighbourhood, dogs barking. Needs a gang of environmentalist fossickers like us to clean up the creeks of weeds and rubbish, as well as all the gold, gemstones and relics. If the provisions of the original Miner's Right were still in force, there'd be folk like us living on the creeks, your own dam to a certain size, land of certain dimensions, for 10 years, and a modern version of a shanty by Jayco. All ruined bits of government land should go to a ballot, means-tested, be a partial fix to the housing crisis. Like squatters had to clear and fence an area and then they can own that land, a 10 year lease with pass marks for wanted outcomes, then entitle to choose from what's left to fix. What are the chances? I'm gonna buy a Tattslotto ticket.

@@gabivalla6279 yeah its not hard to do the right thing out there, as for your solution to the housing crisis I think its a great idea however the muppets that run this country make far too much money out of the over inflated ponzi scheme that is the housing market in Australia to ever let people do that! 😜

Hot damn, I think you're of a sound mind in a... oh, you're like us, occupying the body of an uninhabitable ruin, without heritage protection, ah, what's Gina's phone number? I'll run her a dairy into bankruptcy, and then plant pines on it for the good folk of Zurich to retire comfortably on the woodchip pulp afterwards. Fk what the entire district will be like afterwards. TISM's new double LP/CD concept album has a ripper called "The Creed Of Steve Bannon", the chorus after 7 narrators speak, first in the White House, down the line to the spiv saying "have a nice day", knowing they've done ill for their "Man", it goes: "I've - covered the field with shit, and am responsible!" Another track is "Cabal Of Bozos (Australia's Laziest Class, The Business Class)". Since 1984, I haven't been able to fault the band's reflections on life, and have an enormous laugh too. We lived in Springvale where they're from some 25 years, sound grounds for agreement. As their yuppie song from 1990 goes, "Let's Form A Company!"
