- today we are adding an extra layer of charm to the wonderful 70092! discussing how to personalise and make the most of the extra pieces found in the lego great deku tree, as a huge Zelda fan we will talk about side builds, a buildable queen gohma and of course what to do with your extra koroks!

I love that Gohma custom, she looks just like she did in the game!
@@rj8877 thanks! She was a right pain to work out due to the differences between her game model and official renders. But I think it’s a good middle ground for now!
Now you can use the Koroks as offerings.
@@octanethermoplastic can you make a video showing how to build the gohma please ❤
@@darkangel_of_death no need, just go to my rebrickable page and you can have a free inventory and permanent instructions :)
@@octanethermoplastic thank you
Building the oot version for nostalgia purpose. I feel like Lego shafted that version compared to the botw tho
@@godzilla1392 it is the b model, however while still less loved it’s impressive how little it feels like a b model during construction!
Nah they made up for it with the amount of Easter eggs and details it has, plus the leaves give more coverage than the BOTW one
Tbh, the set and props are made respective to the source material. There just simply wasn’t much going on with OoT’s Deku Tree, aside from the dungeon. I understand why they went with the 2-1 design, as BotW’s Korok Forest/ “sacred grove” is far more stunning of a design, but it’s a shame we didn’t get a Queen Gohma brick build… yet. I’m so excited to see what the later sets in this line have to offer.
@@LeopoldLitchenstein I might have an "ahh ofc" moment now, but in the OoT tree, what are the 3 yellow dots, that you hide in the left secret room?
@jollzy887 Saria's Song that plays in the Lost Woods
I really hope this set is just the beginning of zelda lego sets. The queen gohma was excellent. Exactly what i was hoping to find!
@@captainswagger2838 glad it was useful! Boy do I hope this is the beginning as well :)
Realy want more. I know alot of people are making idias for the guarfdans and such from botw and totk. I would prefer the pre switch games with less of a scifi look. The new games will probley get alot of atention if sets come out but I hope we get a verietty from games to keep fans of the older and newer games happy.
When i eventually get my set, these upgrades will definitely be heavily considered! Awesome showcase and you earned some extra like points from me for using Cadence of Hyrule Music in the background
@@linkstorm6 gotta love cadence’s soundtrack, so underrated!
Glad I could provide some food for thought!
Just built the Gohma, thank you :D
@@LoreKeeperToby My pleasure! It’s always nice to hear that the builds are spreading out and about! Hopefully it makes a great addition to your display, or play for that matter!!
Mostly just glad that my all consuming project over here gets to be of use to people :)
If they do another 2 in 1 set it should 100% be Rito Village and Dragon Roost Island. It makes too much sense not to and it’s an opportunity for far more minifigs than this Deku tree set.
Thats an interesting combination for sure! I wonder how many parts from one version would be usable in the other, ergo how possible it is to make that work. Would be amazing of course!!!
Then I'd HAVE to buy both 😭
sadness for the wallet, but happiness for the soul
hearing you call the hearts plants from old games as if skyward sword was old hurt my soul
@@julien827 hehe, yeah, can’t believe it’s nearly been 13 years since skyward sword. While to you and me that’s the majority of Zelda unfortunately to most, they are the classics…..
Heck, I remember when Twilight Princess was first coming out, nearly 20 years ago at this point. I remember playing Spirit Tracks when that came out 15 years ago. I'm not even that old, but seeing how long ago some of my childhood games came out sure makes me feel old lol
time is cruel.... when we put it this way it makes me worry that they are too old to be relevant anymore and lego will never make sets off them.... yikes!
@lordly123 ooof! Don’t remind me, it’s scary to talk to fully conscious humans and then they don’t know what your on about when you mention anything before 2015…..
Given that I only gave about a month and a half until I turn 40 this post really hits home 😂.
It still feels like only recently I was waiting for Ocarina of time to finally release never mind twilight Princess 😅.
I will be forever grateful to Nintendo for creating the amazing Zelda series, I've loved pretty much every all the games in this awsome series and I really need to get this lego set.
This was a really creative vid I loved the ghoma build, so many great builds t9 enhance either set.
I really like this different style of video, definitely gonna get the parts for ghoma after the deku tree
@@BitBricks1 so different, filming irl is weirrrrddd. And a script, ewwww. But thanks, I wanted it to stand out, go for gohma! She’s worth it, and she’s cheap, so I guess she’s worth more than her worth
I had bought two Deku Tree sets so I could have both versions built at the same time. I do plan to build extra fairies, Deku Babas, and Koroks because of that. I may look into taking some inspiration for this video on some other addons.
@@SonicJrandSarah very nice! You have plenty of Korok bodies to experiment with! I’d definitely try the backpack one, gohma could be fun if you are displaying both tree versions!
But yeah, hopefully this can be inspiration for your extra parts, you have plenty to work with!!!
I wish I could afford to do that :P
Can't even get 1 copy
sadness. I remember those days
I built the Breath of the Wild version since that's the one I like more and initially left the unused bags in the box but after watching this video, I opened bag 22 and built the things. I did modify the song block to show Zelda's Lullaby since I like that track more than Saria's song. The mod was easy and only used extra pieces from the set.
@@owenbyrne9850 sounds like a success!
Love the Gohma build!
Thanks! wanted to make sure she looked perfect as possible for this set!
Nice for inspiration, I will definitely attempt to use most of the spare parts, I don't want them just sitting loose
One cool thing I found is using the spare string part included to make a triggered version of the hookshot. I put adult link dangling from the tree with it
A good thing to do to the BOTW version is covering up the exposed studs on either side of the door. There's two 2×2 exposed areas near his mustache ends. You have lots of options to cover it up with just the unused parts, makes the whole thing look a whole lot nicer in my opinion
good suggestions! will be sure to try the hookshot one for sure! did you use the string piece for that?
Great video! It would be amazing if you could extend the dungeon in the back and add a boss room. Would love to see that.
It might be worth considering yeah! Currently doing the wind waker tree, but I might give it a go after I'm finished with that!
Very Cool instructions I can finally use them because I got the set😄
I hope you enjoy! its a great set!
what a wholesome video thank you! 😊
No problem, glad you enjoyed :)
This might be the best UA-cam video
thats sweet thanks! but I doubt it! so much amazing content on this platform :)
Wow this is amazing
Thanks! Just my initial ideas :)
Even though I may or may have not got this set twice for the both tree versions it still helped me expand things on my set thank you
@@Oozer_ amazing! I’d love to do the second copy myself one day! Just not yet :)
The 2-in-1 Zora's Domain is gonna be nuts
Just imagine! .... although I hope that not everything has to be a 2-1
@octanethermoplastic yeah I hope so too, I'd like to see specific small dungeon sets focused on fun play mechanics at a lower price
@ oh absolutely! That is where I believe the 2 ip cross over best, hence why 10 of my custom Lego Zelda sets ended up being dungeons with modular compatibility!
Some really nice additions! The first thing I did for my OOT tree was to hang the Skulltula just a little bit higher, so it can swing around even if the tree's mouth is opened
interesting... does the drop feature still work?
Basically I just removed the 1x1 plate with clip and instead attached the rope directly to one of the antistuds of the printed Skulltula tile, which doesn't change the mechanism!
@@superminister nice, I get it!
Regarding the custom Deku Stick, it makes sense to keep it as two parts because it snaps in two upon impact in the original game. Also, while it is a nice idea, there are no keys insides the Great Deke Tree at all. Keys for dungeons only start appearing in the Forest Temple.
fair point regarding the stick, I agree, just personally I like the less messy design of the one piece version, idk just a nitpick specific to me I guess.
Thats true about the keys, I hadn't considered that, I think it still works given that things like the hookshot and magic are included and neither of those are present in the deku tree either. just view it as an adult link accessory, its too quintessentially Zelda
This helped so much
glad it was of use!
Mine arrived TODAY!!! It's been a long day so I'm going to hold off on building until I have more energy, but I'll be sure to try out some of your mods, as well as some of my own! (I want to add one or two blue bunny rabbits to represent Blupees!)
blupees are a great shout! I did have them on my blue sky concept list, but couldn't find a part I liked, are you thinking the patronus hare from Harry Potter? or the sonic rabbits (I couldn't unseen Oswald's bunnychildren with that last one)
Glad your tree has arrived! now the fun can begin, but definitelywait for energy, come the end of this month I'll have to take a break and just enjoy it all myself as well, not that I haven't been, but its been a huge 2 months of content.... ENJOY!
@@octanethermoplastic They're the standard bunny piece in light blue, they were in the BAM towers for a while. The Patronus hare would also work, maybe even better!
oh I know the one! my problem with purist parts is im too ingrained in the lego lore to forget their original purpose, its totally a me problem but I cannot unlink that part with toy rabbit at Chinese new year (even though that isn't the first appearance of the rabbit) oh well, no blupees for me! please do it for yourself though!!
Oh! did you find any better ideas for gohma posing? I struggled while making this to find something I actually liked for long term, instead putting off to side... im convinced that she does belong with the set. but I'm being pedantic with it!
@@octanethermoplastic I haven't gotten as far as positioning Gohma yet, but I did have an idea to separate the Hookshot (and/or Longshot when I add one) and stick a chain piece between the halves, then pose Adult Link as if mid-flight.
@@Karalora that’s a lot of fun, has good potential for a diorama! The posing might be a little challenging, just got to keep it stretched to reduce slack!
If i get this, Im def making the backpack korok hes so cute
Thought you might like that one! my favourite part about the design is that the curved slope lets him wobble back and forward, super cute indeed!
Just got the three and will def be adding these!
@@PloFilms yeah! Enjoy the tree :)
god this set is insane
@@colegriffiths5971 truely! It just keeps surprising me !
I would really like to see a lego guardian from breath of the wild it was the part that gave me ptsd when I heard the guardian noise it was fun lol
I have done one in the past.... the video is incredibly hard to watch as it was one of the first I did on the channel! I'll be updating the vid and model eventually as I've learnt a lot in 5 years.... But it is a great idea and very important piece for lego Zelda! in my top 5 for realistic set predictions!
Can you add some directions for the spare parts tree and mini dungeon with the Skulltula? I like those ideas
I'll add it to the list, I need to upload another set of instructions this week anyway, so I'll try to do both asap
The Deku Tree looks so naked! it needs way more branches and leaves like five to eight times as much
Maybe once those pink parts become more common!
Imagine if they do more zelda sets if they do a hyrule castle one. I can see it going more architectural like newer hogwarts sets
This, and two different Ganondorf Minifigures and I could find peace in my life.
@@oliverguiney2603 true! Although that would be massive, I wonder if the 2018 to 2020 Hogwarts system could provide a more accessible if more dispropotioned interpretation alongside our big adult sets!
@@williamshakespeare9424 ahh so Ganondorf is your must have! I think every Lego Zelda supporter has one! Hopefully your wishes will be answered soon! Within 3 years right :)
@@octanethermoplastic Here's to hoping it'll come, thank you for reassuring me.
As for now, model paint will clear my path to the TotK Ganondorf.
@@williamshakespeare9424 good luck with the paint! What’s your figure base?
Amazing video! For botw link, i prefer using the rivendell boromir sword, because its shorter
@@Sjjjsjdjdjcj interesting, I have the part, I agree that shorter is more like the broadsword too
I love your extra ideas!!! I also purchased a brown horse for link. If you have the part code for the fairy dish that would be great! I’d like to get 2 extra!
brown horse is a great idea! I need to get one for another project so might just have to build a Lon-lon set up too!
We have a genius in our midst... Satorie mountain
I wouldn't say that! Just felt like a nice idea for the parts included :)
I will definitely add some of these if I get the set!!
@@strawbeeo cool! The suggestions are here if you want them :)
🔥
Thanks!
i love the ocarina deku tree the most but like the exterior enviroment of the BOTW version, so hoping to find a way to build a mix of those
a lot of the side trees and of course the pedestal can be added to the oot version! I feel you should be able to find a happy middle ground quite easily, a beautiful custom tree that represents your experience with Zelda!
0:29 a few of those aren’t loose parts, but instead from a step you missed on page 301. Not done building yet but it seems that, if you go through the instructions and only open the required bags, you shouldn’t have any extra pieces besides the typical small pieces.
@@Dren215 what’s interesting about that is when I built botw, I went, huh, I’m sure this set was supposed to have small roots sticking out of the ground…
Some of the parts in that pile are still lost though! Just thenormal 1x1 spares though.
But good catch, make sure I’ve fixed it for the review!
Yeah, the front root section is incomplete.
now that I've built it both ways I have to say I prefer it without the smaller root parts, don't mind the big curved bricks, but the small ones don't suit it in my opinion!
I got mine today and have been squealing since! I would like to maybe one day make it be a full enclosed structure
@@lydia-rose5756 ooh! Interesting idea! Could be curious to see what kind of interior options this could give you if it opens up…. More dungeon rooms! Enjoy building :)
The GHOMA moc, how did you do the two dots and line for the eyeball on the 1x1 round tile piece.
I made the symbol on the computer and then printed it on some waterslide decal paper, I will be putting the file for the symbol on rebrickable later this week!
Once printed on the decal paper, the sticker needs to be sealed to stop the ink washing off. before applying and sealing onto the brick like a normal model kit. Any questions im happy to answer and I'll post a community post when the image goes live on rebrickable!
what if you take the wand with the lightsaber and stick on the end, alternatively a flame, since the stick was used twohanded
could work, it was mostly the texture change I didn't like on the 2 piece version, it felt messy to me. But I think your idea could work!
Personally, I wish the master sword came in a blue color. I know it’s indigo now but I just hate how it doesn’t match the shield color. Unless they make a wind water set…
fair enough, is wind waker the only game its blue? for this set being oot and botw indigo makes sense as it was indigo in both those games right?
Unfortunately it may just be an iconography thing, whatever Nintendo forces I suppose!
@@octanethermoplastic I always remembered the master sword being blue in the original version of ocarina of time but that may be due to my tv or myself at the time also how many props and art depicts it blue too. But it's only blue in windwaker and I played that the most.
@@ryancanuso9316 very true, master sword does appear blue in most material, skyward sword is my favourite, so I’m biased in the opposite direction.. I think overall though it once again proves how most of Zelda as a series does not comply with the Lego colour palette! It’s all in between!
subbed
thanks total stranger who isn't an alt account for an already subbed creator....
I also made my own little sitebuild but yours lookngreat too
good to see people getting creative!
He made that bag get ultrahand out and make Lego death machines with it on it
uhhhhh, not quite sure what you want me to do
This looks great! Though I have one question, are there any sets that you would recomend I go for to be a Temple of Time stand in? A place for the Master sword to rest in the OOT Timeline, or even make something for the TP pedestal where the forest has reclaimed that and we see the ruins all around.
@@Geostelar4920 in regards for a temple of time, there arn’t many official sets that fit the bill very well. The new architecture notre dame might be the best bet, but would require extensive modifications and is the wrong scale, a Hogwarts castle could have potential too. I could see that working with modification, there is a custom temple of time over on rebrickable by mb Mocs but is also micro scale… if your thinking tp pedestal, my own custom may be a good starting place, again free instructions on rebrickable, it is a botw design, but looks very different from the official one and I think could easily be modified to be tp. Sorry there wasn’t an easier answer for you, my full scale temple of time is not yet ready for instructions and would be massively over budget!
@@octanethermoplastic Its fine and I thank you for the detailed recomendations. I am pretty new to Lego over all, but I love the legend of Zelda, OOT and TP are my favorite games in the series with TP being better by quite a bit. So I think I'll look at your ideas and try to think of something fitting to make the ruins for TP
@@Geostelar4920 no worries, always happy to help! And good luck !
Interesting! 🤔
@@HylianRetriever lots to consider!!

Y'know a Paraglider from BotW would be cool to build 👀
@@LeagoDaCat1000 it would! I do have a design from the customs, I might have to dust it off and get the parts irl! If your curious and want to try yourself it was featured in my depths base totk custom and my wave 4 freeing naydra custom, it may take me some time to get the parts irl myself, so that might speed you along in the meantime :)
i'm kinda struggling to figure out what pieces you used to make the teeny korok backpack--ik it's super simple but would you be able to list what parts you used?
yes, I'll try here, but I'll put up a community post with pictures in the next 48 hours as well :)
the base is a dark tan 2x3 plate, on the middle 2 studs sits 2 1x1 brown down facing brackets these have clips or a tile on to look like pockets/attach a frying pan
On top of the 2 brackets I place a 1x3 modified plate with only 2 studs (long jumper plate) in dark tan to make the middle wider.
on the end studs of the 2x3 plate I put 2 1x1 modified plates with "light attachment" (according to brick link) the plates with an o stuck to the sides.... These face directly upright to create a cylinder effect for the korok blanket roll. I add 1x1 round plates to the o's facing out to extend it.
a 2 x 2x 2/3 curved slope in dark tan sits with the lower side on these O plates and the upper side on the 1x3 modified plate from earlier.
The last 2 studs from the original 2x3 plate are covered by a 1x2 slope piece in dark tan
Sorry this is wordy, picture version on the community tab soon!
how can we get the custom Gohma sticker eyes?
ummmm, I haven't made the file available yet, I'll try to upload the file to rebrickable this weekend, but be warned that when printing on your own sticker paper you will need to adjust the size to match the 1x1 lego tile as I can't predict your printer settings.
I made a buildable ganon figure from oot on bricklink studio it’s a little accurate to the game
awesome! would be great to see it sometime and would make a great addition to the lelda sets!
@@octanethermoplasticyeah I’ll try to buy the pieces for me to build it to life when I get the chance.

@@Ca11m3Raven 4 community posts back on my channel! :)
Sence we get three Link's -two in the green tunic- I was actually disapointed we got botw Zelda cause I would have prefered a more recognizeable variation of her pink dress outfit. I kinda want to try some uther minfigures with her. I was thinking a white robe like in the game and some uthers that match some of her variants thru the games and just some overall creative outfits. I was actually thinking of doing Link in a mail shirt as a hylian soldiar so maby for fun I could make Zelda in green heroine clothes.
These are great options! I do agree that im really keen for the classic games to not be ignored. But I do think we are ignoring how iconic the outfit they gave us is. Its probably her 2nd most well know and these days, potentially the only version of Zelda many fans know! Plus she does visit the tree in BOTW and TOTK. That never happens in the classics!
@@octanethermoplastic Yes I agre the botw and totk are pretty recognizeable to fans. I'm sure thier are plenty who's first zelda game was botw and they don't even recognize Link's classic green outfitt or the castle fantasy world of zelda. My first game was alttp so I see zelda games in that theme. I do want some older zelda sets if zelda becomes a theme but I'd be fine with and come to enjoy new zelda in lego form. As always I just modi as I want so as long as we have good pieces the set itselfe doisn't realy matter to me. I think lego should do bothe old and new legos for fans of eather and bothe.
@@octanethermoplastic The reason I brought up idias from older games is I havn't played the newsr ones. The last main zelda game I played was ww. Tp art just sort of put me off and I was playing alot of the vertuall console games like oot on wii and wii u at the time. Ss motion controll pute me off so I skipped it. Got hyrule warriors and then de at this point. The brakeable items and introduction of scifi tech put me off for botw and totk once Link got a byonic arm seamed off for a zelda game and it just isn't my thing. I saw a video cutscenes on aoc so I kno a little on guardians and Taruko that Zelda built. I just can't name much in these games cause I'm not familliar with them. I'm sure I'd see them interesting in lego even if I didn't recognize them. I would like lego to do sets on a veriety of games for fans.
@@TheOmegazerox that’s the dream, sets for all fans from all games. Especially the older ones have such fond memories and exciting moments attached. So I’d love to see the full range of character come into Lego form.
I know I’ve done a lot of totk stuff on the channel recently, but I’d recommend checking out the wave 2, 3 and 4 playlists on the channel. Most of the custom sets I design com from classic games, and I like how that concept looks!
@@octanethermoplastic Like I sed I want some classic or what I call pre switch game stuff but I'm open to some botw and such and I'm sure alot of fans want classic and modern Link so lego should do a veriety of sets from diferant games. I think if we got sets from just the switch games cause they are largeley recognizeable at this point it would put off manny zelda fans. We need that veriety of sets.
Do you have instructions for the Satori Mountain build?
not yet, but I can get them onto rebrickable by the end of the week if thats okay?
Perfect! @@octanethermoplastic
watch the community tab and I'll post about it when they go live :)
what kind of lego zelda set do you think is gonna happen next?
Honestly still hoping for a playset wave in the summer, but I can also see it being a second d2c set next September, probably the castle, however my new fave idea has to be 2 smaller dioramas, reusing the new molds from the deku tree, a links last stand from botw, reusing botw link, master sword and hylian shield, and Zeldas hair + face, giving us a new torso for her praying dress. Set would include a guardian, something I think would be incredibly popular.
The other one is a oot set that reuses the oot figs and ocarina mold.
How long did it take to build the Ocarina Deku tree roughly? Thanks in advance.
@@Audioslave23 actually I did time this thanks to my stream! I would say it depends on your building speed, I build fast, but stream slower me down so that might be a good approx of an average. So I would say 4 hours plus maybe 40 mins for the treehouse and pedestal. But I would + or - 20%
Thanks for the quick response.
You should make a alt build of this set
@@TheAutisticBrick I’m planning on it, thinking it will be the tree from the wind waker!
@@octanethermoplastic I was thinking that you could build a big divine beast
@@TheAutisticBrick I could try, but after the other one and it might take a while
@@octanethermoplastic ok

How did you make the sticker for gohma’s eye?
@@JoylessBurrito it’s a transparent transfer sheet like you get in model kits, but I printed the design on the paper, sealed it with a spray so the ink doesn’t run. Then apply by soaking the transfer.
I seal mine onto the pieces with more spray to make them last longer, but that’s optional and can effect the look
Can you buy the fairy print part?
fairy part code isn't out yet, brick link will take a while and if lego themselves add it you won't be able to buy it for 6 months after tree release (march 2025) but they may not even add it then....

overpriced piece of plastic for a mediocre set. Stop being such sell outs or blind fanboys of both lego and nintendo
@@ereh7328 can’t be a sellout if I brought it with my own money and evaluated it for myself, in a quite lengthy I must admit 2.5 hour review. I got my value out of it, and I explained why. You can keep your opinion but a sellout or blind we are not. True evaluation is key.
@@octanethermoplastic the sellout i take back but its blind fanboyism with this set. 300€ for a half build like this is not the money worth.
@@ereh7328 i won’t try to change your view, I do think half build is a little hyperbolic though, it’s still a large structure and has 2500 parts, not to mention most Lego sets are open back, this is not unusual. Most importantly I fail to see the relevance of this criticism on a tree upgrade vid…. In fact this whole video exists to show people that the left over parts are worth something… anyway, just looses thoughts,
