    Beauty advisor here! 20vol is The standard permanent depositing developer٫ it will only lift 1-2 levels. this line only works on virgin hair٫ not color treated hair٫ because color doesnt lift color. 30-40 is reccomended because its a hi-lift color٫ not a regular permanent hair color٫ hense why its for dark hair.

    Your hair is beautiful! I used to have long, thick hair,but I have gotten older....and my hair has changed, lol. I have been coloring my hair since my twenties, a light auburn. I have natural chestnut color hair (with a little more gray) and have used L'Oreal products for years. Researching different brands, I have found their products to be better for your hair, and good for it as a matter of fact. Now I want to add highlights to bring out a brighter side, and not too drastic for my age. Your video shows exactly what I want for a base color. Thank you!

    I know it’s been a year since you’ve made this but i dyed my hair copper using the same dye and everything and I used 30 volume and my ends are darker, I have very thick healthy hair when it’s wet but when it’s straight it’s very thin I guess just very fragile when it’s dry if that snakes sense, do you think I should dye my ends with 40 volume for like maybe 20 minutes? My roots are really copper too just like yours are in this video

    • @mediocremel201
      @mediocremel201  3 роки тому +6

      Hello! No worries about the time- i STILL use the same dye every few months! I do only dye the roots most times :) so i know your struggle!!
      If you dyed the ends with 30 vol already, i wouldn't go higher than 30 vol again. Just keep an eye on it as it processes. Try to avoid the roots 😌

    • @MindlessPretty
      @MindlessPretty 2 роки тому

      @@LexBelleXO I ended up letting my roots grow out and then I ran into another problem with my roots not taking the color bc I was using Adore, so I used the crème of nature hair dye in ginger blonde to get my roots light instead of just using bleach which tbh I think it’s the same thing but that hair dye had oils and stuff in it so my hair was perfectly fine afterwards, and now I’m a ginger, I would suggest when you do start dying your hair do your ends first and depending how dark your hair is, then use 30 or 40 then use 20 volume for your roots bc it doesn’t need to be that high of a level to lift, if that does not work for your roots then go up to 30 but try not to use 40 if you can.

    • @mediocremel201
      @mediocremel201  4 роки тому +4

      Hi friend! I should have mentioned it is best to start at the ends and then do roots when the ends have processed for about 15 minutes! I didn't think to mention it because it did not apply to me (my ends were light already).
      What I would do is give my hair a break of at least two days, then dye only your ends with the same color and a lower volume developer (20 or 30 depending on your hair's health and difference in color).
      Usually roots do take dye faster.
      I believe I mention somewhere in this video that when I do "maintenance" of about 1 inch of regrowth, I hit my roots with 20 vol. :)

  • @rosalis2010

    I thought you weren’t supposed to use hicolor to refresh your color if you’ve already colored it in the past. Doesn’t it damage it? I I thought you’re only supposed to use it to retouch your roots and then find a semi permanent hair color for the rest.

    Hi Mel, thanks for uploading. I have dark brown, thin, unprocessed virgin hair and I’m choosing to use 20 vol developer with a combo of copper red and intense red in the HiColor line. I don’t want a super duper vibrant result or too much damage which is why I chose a less potent developer. What do u think?

    • @mediocremel201
      @mediocremel201  4 роки тому +7

      Hi friend!
      If you do not want super vibrant results, 20 volume should be okay!
      I would suggest 30 vol with 30mins processing time though, and that is because you have untouched hair so damage from one dye will not be drastic. :)
      On top of that, reds tend to loose intensity after a few weeks. To keep the color lasting longer I suggest a "color safe" shampoo. Works wonders!

Unfortunately I didn’t know about this product and assumed I would have to bleach first to achieve that kind of shade. Thanks to this video I know now that I don’t have to keep bleaching my hair! this is pretty late, but do you know if this would work on already colored hair? my hair is colored with semi permanent red like in my pfp, that’s faded, would it make it orange like yours without bleaching first? like would the copper cover the red i already have?

    • @mediocremel201
      @mediocremel201  3 роки тому

      Hi Jo! I would not recommend this specific dye for you since I'm assuming you've bleached your hair to get to the red you have now?
      The brand of dye i used is marketed for dark hair only.
      But if i were you, i would get the red dye to fade and try to mix a semi permanent color to get a color similar to copper....but it may not have the results you need.
      My expectations are never high- so i would play around with the colors.
      If your expectations are high though- you can never go wrong going to a professional! 🤗

      Raven Renje I would recommend the the adore range for you, if you have naturally light brown hair, your hair will take on any orange/copper pigments easily. Adore do a lovely shade called ‘french cognac’ which is a beautiful natural looking copper shade. They are also semi permanent and conditioning, so they won’t damage your hair.
