I do not have engraving tools. I do not have metalwork tools. I do not engrave. But yet I watch a 30 minute tutorial. Why? I don't know. I just needed to.
So enjoyable to watch someone who uses the term " Master " in his channel title, who then proceeds slowly, calmly, with humility and confidence to demonstrate exactly why the title is so appropriate.
I love the way the craftsmen in UA-cam help cooperate and encourage each other, sharing useful tips and techniques. Like the one that gave Alec the technique for the demascus steel chefs knife
Alec brought me here. There's something so satisfying about watching someone who is a master in their craft. I'm really excited for more videos of your work.
Came over from Alec's channel. I'm a dentist and work in fractions of millimeters every day. Quest for new skill just found, yeah, I'm bit. Thanks for showing your fine craftsmanship.
Came here from Alec Steele's video. Show me what you got, Mr. Zuelke! EDIT: and you do not disappoint! Very informative. Only critique or more of a suggestion would be: Is it possible to change the camera from your side to being opposite to you? Then it would be filming towards you and your hands wouldn't get in the way. Other than that, the camera was at a perfect distance and well focused, and the audio was clean and crisp, so a fantastic start to your channel!
Master Engraver TV , cant even begins to emajine the difficulty level of this! Hell I cant draw a straight line. As stated earlier...subbed in in less than 2 minutes. Amazzzzed at this work. Blessed day sirSir, Crawford out
What an eye opener. I've a new appreciation for what it truly means to inlay. Had it in my head that it would be as simple as melting/soldering gold into a crevice, when in fact I was so wrong. Thanks for the video.
Hello Layne, I also came from Alec's channel. I do not believe I have the talent for your craft, however, I really enjoy seeing your craftsmanship. I hope you continue your videos, they are well produced and extremely informative. Chisel on sir!
Awesome video Layne! The camera work was well done, your explanation was great and I especially liked that you fully explained what each tool was before using it. I look forward to watching future videos!
A first-time viewer, but I especially liked how you suggest that some people choose to reclaim with bronze gravers to minimize finishing time. A reflective, thoughtful process. Thanks so much for being a better option than watching Hulu...
Man I love Alec Steele's engraving content, but to see an master craftsman at work, and seeing how smooth you make every cut and curve was amazing. keep it up!
I'm not from Alec's channel although I do watch him. My comment is for your remark about this not being an "important" project. Sir this project is of the upmost importance as you are teaching many of kind folk an excellent skill. You should try your best so you may teach the best. Very great video though I'm not a blacksmith or engraver I'm just an fan of the beautiful things you and Alec both do. Keep up the good work friends.
Wow I stumbled on your channel after watching a few other engraving videos. I was thinking to my self how I wish there was somewhere in BR that did engraving like this!!! And here you are!
Very cool. Ive been a machinist for almost 15 years and i find this extremely interesting. Might be something id like to pick up as a hobby. Thanks for uploading!
His & Hers just be aware that it’s a long term learning process that requires a fair amount of shop setup. Kind of like me taking up being a machinist as a hobby. Much like being a machinist, historically hand engraving has never been a hobby activity. The learning curve is long and steep. Just depends on what you want to get out of it. I usually suggest taking a class before making any large investment in tools.
Fascinating stuff. As a creative professional myself, I totally agree with your philosophy on drawing your own pieces. Can you do a scroll drawing tutorial? That would be incredible.
Layne- this channel is much appreciated and your inlay tutorial is very helpful. I find that gold inlay is one technique not demonstrated in detail amongst all the info out there. If you are looking for additional subject manner for future videos I would love to see gold wire inlay filling a larger space ;). Thanks again for your hard work in putting this together.
Being ADD and 35 year's old I have mastered a lot of trades in my life. I can build black walnut furniture out of a tree with inlays, restore classic cars which I have 20 under my belt now, breed ball pythons (Obviously I'm not the father lol), apply all paints and stains, and now I'm getting into gun smithing. Just built 10 different caliber AR's and now I'm taking a cheap 400 dollar RIA 1911 and working in all high end parts from companies Wilson Combat. The only issue I have is the finish of the RIA guns are extremely horrible. Take that back I have another issue and that's I just told the wife I'm buying engraving equipment for my shop to add to the spray booth, CNC machine, Bridgeport, lathe and every type of buffing and polishing equipment I already own....🤣🤣🤣 I have watched 2 hrs of videos you have on here and I'm hooked! You do beautiful work Sir!!!!!!
I was always curious about how this was done. I don’t engrave, but I’ve always found it interesting and always a great addition to a firearm. I’ve had the pleasure of working on some European rifles and shotguns that were engraved and always marveled at the skill involved in the fine embellishments on them. Also, I arrived here from Alec Steele’s channel.
I have never engraved, but love to watch Masters at their craft, of which you are obviously one. I also am in awe of Ford Hallam's work (engraving in Japanese fashion.)
Flying over from Alec channel. Really like your educational level of explaining/showing tecnics. And keep up making and showing mistakes, because that is very useful information for us.
Awesome workmanship in real time just blows my little mind. Subbed in less than 2 minutes. I too was sent and definitely with out regret... @blame it on Alec Steele!!!
A fabulous demonstration making it look so easy! I have been a follower of Alec for 3 years now, but I came here from your helpful note to Dan Lemaster in the Engraver's Notebook group on FB!
Well it seems the UA-cam algorithms are doing something right for a change. I have been a fan of Alec for quite some time but have gotten behind in watching some of his more recent videos. I saw this video listed in my recommended list and thought hmm there is something that might be interesting to learn and what do you know it's a video in response to a question from Alec. Great camera work and explanation. You have gained a subscriber. Keep up the good work.
have tried my hand at engraving a bit and hope to get back to it eventually. thanks for this tutorial, I learned a good bit. have subscribed and look forward to seeing more. thank you
awesome video. I'm in school for gunsmithing and have a interest in engraving for my black powder project coming up. its awesome that your in baton rouge, I live out in walker. and yes alec is awesome love his energy with all his projects, I've been watching him ever since my old roommate started watching forged in fire, and built a forge out of a lawnmower deck and a hair dryer so he could make his own knifes.
Loved the video and look forward to seeing more, one of the things that I have found to be a challenge is transferring from a printed design to the metal to be engraved. Thanks for starting this series.
Heard about your channel on one of Alec's videos. Came over here to check it out and immediately subscribed as soon as I saw the beautifully engraved 1911. Fantastic work and keep it coming.
I’d pay this man some serious money if he could train me. First I need serious money and I’m in my final semester of college so that will be a while....damn. These videos are awesome supplementation though! Not sure if you have videos over the tools needed but I’d love to watch one over all the needed tools for starting out engraving! Thank you for your videos sir!
I dunno if anyone else got a wonderful ASMR response from the sound of the hammer bit as he was putting the gold in but I did, gave me happy shivers xD
Hello Sir, another new sub from Alec's channel, must say your work is amazingly fascinating, thank you for showing us how it's done. all the best from the UK.
from 179 subs to well over 2300 in a matter of hours, because Alec mentions you :D (now, we wouldnt be here if we didnt like the craft, and Alec seems to have send us to one of the best)
Absolutely! i'm thankful Alec mentioned him, so we can get to see a master at his craft in the field of engraving, do his thing, how he does it, and learn from him :)
Could not agree more, it helps channels grow, and helps us learn new stuff (or just enjoy watching crafts people do their thing) (Edit* and ofc its good to give praise to those who helped or inspired you to do something)
also found u via Alec steele as im legaly blind almost all these hobies are a no go for me. but i love pealple who can make stuff and inprove themself constantly . great to see your work ill defenitly watch some more of your stuff. Michel
Wow! I tired this technique years ago using copper instead of gold. Was using a proper set of gravers, but I was driving them with a tiny hammer. Got some of it to hold well, lost interest. Great to see what focus and perseverance can do!
I saw a video with music about engraving and thought "how in the world is this person pushing with enough force to dig into the steel?" I couldn't tell he was using a machine. This makes so much sense now. Amazing art form.
matthew hoover there are two methods we use. Either hammer and chisel or with the more modern method of pneumatic assist. The hand still guides the tool as with hand push but a piston in the handle taps the back of the graver to help drive it through hard steel.
Just phenomenal! Thank you so much for the outstanding tutorial!
I came here thanks to AlecSteele' channel and all of your advice. Super thrilled to see what you'll be showing us in the future!
Why didnt you do it like that? :D
Alec Steele invite him over
damn he got good eyes i could not see the steel wall at the gold
Alec Steele I'm here becouse of you Alec. No doubt it's a fine work. You need to buy that machine
I do not have engraving tools. I do not have metalwork tools. I do not engrave. But yet I watch a 30 minute tutorial. Why? I don't know. I just needed to.
You are in for it then. Down the rabbit hole
@@MasterEngraverTV it does look tenting to learn!
Same. I've never thought about pursuing engraving nor do I own any tools, yet I'd rather watch this than sleep. Absolutely amazing
Because learning new things is addictive, and appreciating a master craftsman's work never ever gets old.
Because there is more than one kind of porn. That's why. You're watching something instead of doing it.
So enjoyable to watch someone who uses the term " Master " in his channel title, who then proceeds slowly, calmly, with humility and confidence to demonstrate exactly why the title is so appropriate.
How nice of you to help your fans out by sharing knowledge. Some people don’t even reply when their fans are asking for tips..
A craftsman with his tools and deep knowledge.
The nonchalant precision and skill that comes from someone who’s mastered a craft is always both humbling and breathtaking.

bump for camera angle
Working on camera setup now. Shooting whats under a scope with 6 inches of working height Is challenging. '
I can only imagine. You'll get it right, don't worry!
You might want to look at the channel Strange Parts, as he's got a scope that is adapted for filming.
Master Engraver TV , cant even begins to emajine the difficulty level of this! Hell I cant draw a straight line.

HOLY MOLY!!! You, Mr. Zuelke are a hell of a craftsman! Hats off!

Awesome work! Came to visit from Alec Steele's channel. I find engraving to be very therapeutic to watch.

Hello from Slidell. Engraving mesmerizes me. It’s something I have always had an interest in but never tried whatsoever. Great channel. Subscribed.
