Do I need to fast before a liver function test? I fasted for 12 hours before a liver function test 3 weeks ago and my ALT was 57. Today, I repeated the LFT, but I didn't fast and my ALT was 114! Is this because I didn't fast? I haven't had any alcohol, and am eating a very clean diet for the last 3 weeks.
