You forgot the part where she came back a decade later under a different name, remastered the first part of the mod and added some new content, then disappeared again.
"Good" is debatable but there is also Demonheart, which nowadays also exists as a Steam visual novel. So you can tell the author is passionate about it, at least (bit too much ... "bad boy" "romance" for me though).
Holy shit I can't believe you did a thing for THIS of all modules. One thing I always found funny about it is that it was literally never made to see the light of day: The creator and writer for it was basically building it as a personal smut fantasy when her friend saw it and told her she should publish it.
This is why warlockracy is awesome He's our true Eastern European view on video games that we got on youtube. Probably the only authentic Eastern European we have. I've had enough of guys like FPSRussia, Boris and CrazyRussianhacker - western guys who pretend to be Eastern European/Russian just to get clicks and to be "funny" by being a stereotype. Boris was fun for a while, but enough is enough. This guy is the true Eastern European experience in all forms - analysis, perspective, intelligence, talking style.
About nationality of the author of this mod i can pretty safely assure, that she is from Germany or Austria. In this interview, when she was talking about Adults Only rating in games consisting sexual content, she used term: Ego-shooter - the term used only in German language describing FPS games.
My cue was when she mentioned a witch. Witches are a class in the german rolepaying game "The Dark Eye." Flying on a broom is a feature. Funny, what makes you think :D .
"Saying yes to the creep leads to a cool side adventure" I don't think I'd describe being trafficked as a cool adventure, but sometimes you just gotta make the best of a bad situation
I hope this takes off. Discovered a Dance with Rogues a few years back and was blown away by how *competent* it was. The scripting is seriously complex, the logic behind XP gain really encourages playing a rogue, and the story, despite large amounts of horni, is honestly pretty engrossing and full of fun characters. You can tell the author was inspired by A Song of Ice and Fire, and put that inspiration to good use.
Glad to hear everything is going well. A surprise visit from the FSB would be a little spooky, but im glad it ultimately didnt go anywhere. Best of luck in your future content and in life man
Need to say it's complicated situation. State point of view - they think "just stop posting provocative (for authorities) tweets or things go bad". And at least there will be charge of money, or probation.
Maybe the tweet post was just the excuse for showing up, and they were very aware of your humanitarian actions, but not your motives. State security is sometimes just like that. Keep up with that dedication. Regards from Argentina
@@WTFisTingispingis the FSB is not the FBI (CIA would not intervene inside it's borders) or most other intelligence agencies. It's a much broader force, meaning it also takes on roles that would be deferred to other groups, like military police or civilian police. Many of such roles and tasks wouldnt be allowed in a democracy, as they interfere with policing and skirt with laws such as freedom of movement and speech. So if the two fsb agents show up to your door, it's to spook you. if the fbi does, it's with a warrant or as part of some investigation that reached above state level. (also because people in america would loose their shit if the fbi started spooking randoms over tweets) i dont think the fsb would bother with curtsies if they have a reason to suspect you. you'd get bagged and relocated, then questionned. there's records of that, people suspected of things, proven or not, getting arrested any time, anywhere in russia and then released whenever someone bothered checking if they were POI's or not. and you bet the fsb is spooky in that manner, cuz you just dont know what's coming. who knows, you might break your neck while getting out of the police car.
I thought the same, then I noticed that the visuals looked somewhat different than I remembered. I looked it up and it turns out the module has continued to receive major upgrades, even as recently as last year! Not so ancient after all.
A Dance with Rogues is one of my greatest loves, truly I love this mod and all its faults! all the characters and narrative are so well made, as a woman I really felt seen when I played this, it's definitely not for all people but not everything needs to appeal to a majority. edit* adwr borrows many well-loved throps from the dark romance community, you can find a lot of these fetish elements in romance books such as A Court of Thorns and Roses, From Blood and Ash, Bow Before the Elf Queen etc. I can understand why people might be confused by some of these dark and se*ual aspects, and why a woman would want them in her game. But I can assure you there is a very big audience of women who loves these stories, and to see that represented in a game modual so well made and old is such an amazing experience. Not to mention the wonderful character journey the princess go on, I love how there are so many personalities you can adopt to your princess, making each playthrough feel just a little different than the last.
I don't know why it is so hard for some people to understand that the fantasy of something happening is very different than the reality... I suppose it is pearl clutchers terrified of the "slippery-slope" and assuming every person is a fringe lunatic just waiting to be set off. A mentality that has only become more common it seems with the internet becoming ubiquitous, and people being exposed to interweb madness on a daily basis.
@@jeck988 If you are interested in this story specifically, its a very well done user made module. I would advise the 2nd instalment is a significant step down from this and doesnt reach a satisfying conclusion. If you want to get into neverwinter nights for gameplay more than story, the Aielund Saga is a very complete series that spans nearly the full level range, and isnt at all restrictive about what kind of character you have to play. The narrative and world building are competent, but its not on a par with ADWR (the 1st module at least). Whatever you do, dont play the original bioware made campaign. The expansion campaigns definitely were better, but the original campaign set an unbelievably low bar (particularly given this same studio had only recently made the BG series), so thats not saying much. NWN2 was made by Obsidian, and the main campaign isnt amazing, but its fine. The Mask of the Betrayer expansion, however, is really fantastic from a story perspective.
YES!! As a woman who loves older CRPGS I freaking loved this module. Have you played Demonheart? I love that one. I am really, really hoping that Baldur's Gate 3 will allow for people to make their own campaigns like this.
@@lavenderwyvern Yes I played demon heart :D and same I would love to see somthing like this made in bg3 graphics. Btw if you want a really deep womans experince with ADwR then there is a comentary on ao3 that is super funny and relatable.
I love you Warlockracy, the effort you put into documenting obscure RPG stuff is fabulous. And to do all this while getting harassed by the fucking FSB, just legendary.
31:00 Yes! Yesyesyesyes yes YES! This is so important and I'm so glad you brought it up! I've often heard people criticize some RPGs for failing to have "real" choices. Bringing up how you have a bunch of different options for what to say but all leading to the same conclusion. What does it matter, they say, whether you respond to someone with active interest, neutrality, disinterest or hostility if the conversation concludes the same way? And the answer is exactly what you described, because it changes how you the player feels about the conversation and situation! Just because a choice doesn't change what ending you get, or cause mechanical changes, doesn't make it not a real or valid choice.
When done badly, you can feel the railroading, but when done well it absorbs you into the character's head. ADWR in that respect is better than most of Bioware's rpgs. Though I must admit, having tried my hand at writing in this style, if you're not careful the dialogue can bloat to obscene sizes really fast. One scene bloated to 2000 words because I had to account for a peaceful attitude and a murderous one.
For what was essentially a pr0n game, A Dance with Rogues has some of the most realistic character writing I've ever seen in an RPG. The game is a bit too dreary and depressing for my tastes, but I can recognize how great it is nevertheless.
Those choices are important, but at the same time I fully understand the frustration of people in cased where those are the only kind of choices the game provides - especially if the game tries to trick the player into believing that it isn't the case.
@@fillosof66689 That's fair, and I can most definitely agree in regards to games that present themselves as being malleable to the player's choices. Looking at you, every Telltale game. However something like KOTOR 2 or Fallout 3, where there's very little variation in the mechanical and story differences between choices, I think it's perfectly fine because having multiple different ways to agree or disagree, as Warlocracy went over, aids in roleplaying, in fleshing out who _your character_ is.
When i saw the whole video. I am so impressed by the creator's way thinking. She implemented like making femininity part of in game mechanics. It gives me ideas to think when thinking of making my own rpg. Very inspiring this passion project is. I would love to see more games made by her.
As a fellow russian speaking person living abroad, I have huge mad props to you. Love your videos, your voice, the narrative and your choice of material.
Most of my expirience with nwn actually comes from playing this module, the sheer number of ways you can express yourself during dialogue (even if it's just flavor text) is something that no fancy 3D graphics and voice acting can beat. Descriptive text is where it's at for RPG's.
12:55 those Golems look like the automatons from Titan Quest. 38:29 And that guy has the face of Zez-Kai El, one of the Jedi masters from Knights of the Old Republic 2.
Super interesting, definitely didn't expect coverage of a mod like this but it was super fun to watch! Would absolutely love a part two, honestly kind of invested in the story now heh. As always, great content Warlockracy.
I went and played this module because of this video and enjoyed it quite a bit. I'm not usually into stuff that veers this far into like, "trashy" territory or whatever, but I found the idea of this niche passion project with this level of competent design really fascinating. A lot of stuff about it made me honestly pretty uncomfortable, but I pushed through since I love stories about thieves and rogues and I got so into playing the role of the princess making her way through this underworld and becoming an experienced professional that I got really hooked. I also enjoyed the focus on stealth thief gameplay, and the fact that pretty much anything *will* kill you in the beginning really made the progression feel real. I'll probably end up playing part 2 eventually. Thanks for doing this!
With a bit more clarity, this was without a doubt one of the best written modules in NWN. And definitely one of the most consumable ones. I play it every few years with fond memories, this and Prophet remain as my favorites of all time. And I'm glad to see some more eyes drawn to it, and now I watch.
ADWR and Prophet really couldn't be more different, but represent the truest expression of their respective two respective forms of the CRPG: simulationist and narrativist.
This is a rare masterpiece I doubted would ever see the light of day on place like UA-cam. Since it contains a lot of taboo subjects never ever dared in other video games any author would get so much flak they may never do anything in public again. I can understand why the author never went public about their creation but still it does deserve to be highlighted and not just fade into obscurity for the tiny minority even playing Neverwinter Nights modules. I remember when the old NWNVault died, canceled by their host with not a care in the world for prosperity or preserving the many creations submitted to it. I thought that was it, the end for this and many other modules I played but thankfully I was wrong. Before established "social media" the downloaders reuploaded all the content to the new vault. The wiki for this particular module also is to thank for much of the preservation. It should be noted that the author Valine has changed huge portions of this module several times over which may bring a weird replayability value for those trying an older version. But maybe not. You'd have to run older versions of the game including Hak paks, resorting in something similar to DLL dependency hell, familiar to many software developers alike. To even have that experience you need the module open in the toolset while playing to debug and fill the gaps left by missing component and enter commands manually to bypass them. Anyway, here I go ranting about details only other nerds will care about. What I wanted to say is thank you, for giving this obscure piece of video gaming history some justice. This review is superb and somehow you manage to keep it approved and kosher to UA-cams community guidelines, an achievement in itself. Great work 👏
It's strange, I started playing Neverwinter Nights for the first time earlier this week, so this video is actually a bit more exciting than the usual uploads for me.
I like smut games that don't forget to be good games first, to be honest I've been pondering around getting Neverwinter just to play this module. In fact it seems to be one of the most thought out experience in the genre, seeing how outfits affect your stats and all, sexuality really got integrated as a gameplay mechanic which is great.
The return of the soy cheese. Warlockracy cinematic universe has so much sprinkled into every new addition. Glad you're still doing well, despite recent events. Always a highlight of the month when you upload, can't wait to see what comes next.
I absolutely loved playing A Dance with Rouges. I first tried it in 2019 and have finished it in a week. It is the best module one can play in NWN, no other one can measure. While I do know that there are other good ones to play, for instance The Prophet, No Honor Among Thieves, Demonheart, Bastard of Kosigan and many others that keep popping up in the best module pole, some of which I have played too, they are only half good IMO. It felt so good playing a rouge, I never knew how resourceful they could get. The author successfully showed us the use a rouge could have, in contrast to the typical fantasy type, who offer some ranged damage assistance and open a few locks here and there, but nothing much else. ADWR has what I deem important for a quality game - good story, well written dialogue, good and clever use of mechanics, not too much fighting (I tire of constant fights that almost all RPGs have), original ideas not used in a game before, feeling of making a choice that actually changes your gaming experience and overall content meant for adults, to which I say, why not? Since many adults play video games, I do not understand the need to tone down some themes. As a kid I thought how important it was to be able to digest darker and heavier themes since I believed that would make me more mature and more ready for the real world. Video games, like all types of media, expose us to the human condition, which can be used to prepare us for real life tragedies. Deep down, we all have a need to process something darker from time to time, it cannot be all sunshine and smiles. And I have noticed that you have played the enhanced version of this module. I have played the latest version meant for NWN Diamond. The difference between those two lie not only in the graphics, but also in the different chronological order some quests were given. For instance, the player gets teleported with Pia in the second part in the older version, not in the first and yes, the area around the castle should have been overfilled with snow. Too bad not many players have heard of this module since today more than ever we thirst for quality stories.
'A Dance with Roguea' otherwise known as 'Forgetting Cora Marshald' was both interesting and quite possibly just an effort to write in more sex dialogue than previously considered artful. I give it 5 boobs out of 2
@@Cheesedragon117 Compared to The Frontier for Fallout (with dev's paedo sex slave fetish insert with full VA), this is a masterpiece of game design and writing.
@@kansax8253 well, Frontier was also a shit game. As in, a thinly veiled rip-off of Call of Duty style "muh cinematics" story design, with the mod authors publicly admitting they basically know nothing at all about Fallout. That also showed quite obviously in the writing. The fact that this mod was made or released at all is honestly baffling. It seemed like everyone involved was only interested in self-promotion (or uh, self-stimulation) and not in making a good mod.
ADWR ??!!!! A TRUE MAN OF CULTURE... the rabbit hole of mods for Neverwinter Nights 1... what memories, there is a fan offshot, called "a dance with spies"
As someone who's actively addicted to nvn modules i need to thank you. Quite a lot of them are genuinely great experiences and adwr part 1 felt like the most polished one.
I totally get talking about this as a George RR Martin thing, but the "Nobody is likely to recognize her with ash on her cheeks and broken fingernails from scrubbing pots" feels very Robert Jordan. Dude talked A LOT about scrubbing pots.
I remember reading about this mod around the time I was playing the game. The way it was described by a 3rd party website ("guys, it has sex in it!one") wasn't all that enticing and I wasn't that excited about NWN in the first place, so I never gave it a second thought. This video kinda makes me want to come back to it. I'm always interested in the attempts at making games in a typically combat oriented genres with a non combat focused design, and it seems to be the approach here. I'm probably not autistic enough to actually try to play it because of that, but I would love a video on part 2.
Part 1 is delightful. Despite the excessive focus on sex, I cannot recommend it enough. Part 2, at least as of 2012 when I last played it, is pretty meh. It concludes the character in a decently satisfying way, but it's pretty darn hack-and-slashy.
I remember hearing about this way back, it was a very popular pr0n game for a generation. The sex scenes are so abundant and explicitly written that it worked for people. IIRC the first place I saw this game mentioned was alongside Violated Heroine and Rapeplay on a 4chan board. Don't expect to ever see youtube videos on those two. >__> I even have vague memories of trying it. I have no idea when I did, but I do remember playing it... It was a bit too dreary for my tastes though. But I don't like A Song of Ice and Fire either. The game really makes you feel like a vulnerable woman in an occupied country, and how terrifying it would be. As to why I was on a 4chan board in the early 2010's looking at a list of different pr0n games.... uhh.... _look over there!_
Thank you finding this gem and Valine for making it. It's the best mod for any game I've ever played. Hell, someone could remake this in a fancy engine and it would be one of the greatest RPG of all time.
Haven't hated a fictional character as much as I hate Vico. That's a great thing. Also, I LOVE the multitudes of responses the game allows. Despite having spoken languages to convey what we feel, we usually use body language to convey feelings. The nods, blushes, and uncomfortable shifts are very refreshing responses despite giving little to no change on outcomes. That's peak roleplaying. Such a shame that the Ravenstower was changed to Castle Crossing, though. Getting out of Betancuria (and the unending rain!) was a real breath of fresh air.
Just a tip to whoever watches this video and decides to play the module: The CONSTITUTION you set the princess changes the size of the breasts considerably. 16 being max and 8 being minimum. it changes some dialogues and interactions. The princess LAST NAME will be the name of the Family used on dialogue. Bump up your BLUFF skill in the begining and learn to play Lier Dice, AKA 66, you can thank me later. The PAINTINGS you find underneath the Dhorn adiministrations can be hanged, so buy bags to take them out of there and store them somewhere before you finish your lessons. There is no such thing as a dead end, use the SEARCH SKILL to check up every wall, in time you'll have a third sense to find secret passages. If you have the apartment before starting "Uncovering The Dhorn Spies" your ex roomate "Trissa" is going to show up, if you bed her you can UNLOCK A SECRET COSMETIC item. THE NECKLACE BORIS DROPS after dying is used in the temple underneath the city to check up in what path you are on on the 13th steps. To enter the BLUE SWAN you'll need a modest dress. And also, thats where the Lier Dice comes into play. That sidequest is important later. AND WHATEVER YOU DO, DONT ENTER THE SWAN AND MAIDEN!!!!!!
congrats on the wedding! how could ive missed this mod back in the days.. this one is a hidden gem. NWN has been pivotal in terms of how gaming itself impacted on my aspirations and career path. huge props for this vid, you the man!
I still play on never winter nights multiplayer, the server is called 'City of Arabel' and it is very narrative and story driven with a DM team sometimes seeming as large as the player base. It supports a lot of things - including changing the setting in its entirety. If you want to go and asassinate the King? Sure you're gonna have to work extremely hard because - well, he's the King, he's prepared for such things, But you CAN kill him. Want to start a revolution and deposethe king, Queen, all of his nobles french revolution style? It's gonna depend on how many players support you as it's gonna involve some heavy player versus player conflicts but it can be done. Want to open a portal to the hells and make demonic pacts? You can do this - Sure when goodly characters find out your lifespan is going to be a head shorter but you CAN do it if you're sneaky enough, and evil clerics are not silenced on sight, conflict is encouraged.
I also suggest the Swordflight module series, it's a great blend of roleplaying, exploration and combat, the author managed to make interesting solo fights and dungeon in NWN, and there is so much content and details it could be a full game
Neverwinter 1 is one of *those* games. Very special, especially if you played it when it first came out. For me, it was my first real PC RPG on my own PC that I built as a pre-teen with chore and birthday money. It was the summer, and I stayed up every night until about 2 AM playing it. I was so into it that I kept a journal -- in character -- and just thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Some of the best memories of my otherwise pretty unhappy early days.
it is really interesting how big this authored-by-women grimdark sex fantasy scene actually is if you poke around, content like this is like the tip of the iceberg, even if it's like arguably the most impressive offering. i wonder how much of the tes side of this community is people like this. really interesting module, and something i actually bumped into while perusing modules to coop with a friend, so it was cool to see this video pop up
Stuff like this is why youre one of my favorite reviewers, absolutely niche and hidden modules and games that I would never hear about or really give a chance by playing and you effectively summarize and give commentary and basically all the core parts of the game. Keep it up my man.
I fully confess to writing as part of a giant universe scale scifi series that absolutely is a set up for sex. And space battles. Which is a great add on for sex if you ask me. And that's fucking wild that you've gotten a visit from the FSB. Do be safe hoss.
@@38procentkrytyk ME's sex potential's decent, but the results are mediocre at best. Similar to their actual space battles come to think of it. And a lot of other factors with those games. Even if I like them still.

I remember this module back in zee day. I don't think I ever played another module that made me care about the main character on a personal level more. In so many modules, the main character is a kind of blank slate that just sort of inhabits the game world. But this felt more like an interacting novel, and the Princesses journey was deeply personal and, at times, emotional. It was dark. Seriously, seriously dark. But an incredible story that build to a satisfying conclusion. Of course, I got my happy ending with my hot lesbian love interest.
YES!! IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO FOR FOREVER! This mod was my first introduction into RPG's and RPG modding, albeit at a young age, i loved this mod
I had heard of A Dance with Rogues but never actually seen a break down of it. I'm blown away by just how slick and professional the presentation was (for 2006 RPG) that didn't shy away from unpleasant subject matter and actually forced the player to role-play as something other than a murder-hobo in their RPG - imagine that. I'd love to see a part 2 to finish this off.
One more for good measure but I was surprised to see she'd come back again to update the thing. I've played this a few times and some of the features and even whole aspects of the story have changed over the years. A new ending was even added after long enough(for the whole series). Hyath used to not even be a demon but some kind of powerful psychic thing that was nesting in your head. More mind flayer, and it was pretending to be a dragon. A whole castle intrigue thing was added in chapter two. The painter who gets caught used to be a man. And seeing updated in 2020 on it and all the different assets she added in the new update continues to amaze. The fact I can come back to this thing and be experiencing not just something old, but something new gets my spirit jazzed for another run at some point this year.
I would love to see a part two, we have unfinished business with Vico. I'm also busy going through the Pathfinder and Spellforce games... I don't have time for Neverwinter right now.
Gamedevs, especially modern and acclaimed ones (no, not you Bethesda, you're beyond redemption) could learn a lot from this but if there was only one thing for me to choose it would be writing dialogues.
This is the first I’ve seen of Warlockracy, but I need/want more. I never expected to see such an adventure where the protagonist makes so many choices that I would have. I hope this comment, my like, and subscription will encourage more of the same. Best of luck to you. I believe the world is improved by thoughtful content like this.
Seems like the module has changed since I last played it as at the end of part one there was a civil war in the family between members who wanted to sell you out and members who did not want to and the barony was the snowy one I probably should give it a re download
Man, I wish there was a redone version of the mod's original latter parts. That snow setting looks way more visually interesting, and the dragon stuff sounds zany - it sounds more interesting in general, judging from other comments.
We need more women making RPGs. This looks very interesting and i wish this kinds of quests would be available for all RPG games. At least as a DLC for adults.
Great video my guy! I started playing NWN for the first time a little bit ago and your teaser of Twitter totally made me think this was gonna be a vid on the original campaign lmao. This was definitely a lot more interesting
I played a ton of these modules back in the day but the only ones I still remember anything about is ADWR and Tales of Arterra. Thank you for this trip down memory lane :)
Oh how awesome.... I'm super digging everything about the backstory of this and the person who made it, right down to the whole obvious inspiration from the ASoIaF books when they were relevant in fantasy circles and before it became a big mainstream thing with the HBO adaptation (which I had serious problems with from the first season, couldn't keep watching because I felt like they were screwing up or leaving out really important parts right from the start... and I felt so validated in that judgement when it came out what utter frauds the showrunners were, and how they immediately made it obviously awful to everyone as soon as they ran out of material to adapt)... just the whole idea that something like this was the product of exposing an intelligent 12 year old girl to some... yes, definitely age inappropriate material.... in the ASoIaF books and then being given the freedom to create something in Neverwinter Nights when she was older... lol I almost feel compelled to play this, like I would regret it if I didn't now that I know about it : D Thank you for doing this video, I'm going to have to learn how to play NWN now just for this lol
It's so strange seeing this mod still get updated. I remember playing it in 2007 or 2008 or something, it looked completely different back then and didn't have half the content in this video, and yet it delivered complete experience. I came back to the mod sometime in 10s and it was updated and looked different. The part 2 even had two new companions. And now in 2022 it yet again looks different.
"...she isn't broken by her tragic past..." (paraphrasing) Man, sometimes my brain is like that tree, and you're like those elves scurrying around in there, making cookies! 👍
2:53 so much that the princess's canon family name is Daenerys' nickname, Stormborn and her canon name is Eddard Stark's sister name, Lyanna. Also, Betancuria is a real place in the Canarias, named after a French noble family, de Bethencourt.
Hey man, this review made me play both parts of this and I have to say it's one of best stories I have played in my whole crpg career. Whew, what an experience. Thanks dude, you got a new patreon. Hope to see you do part 2 soon, as well.
one of the dialog you can choose when you were told to do that was something along the line of "martial arts and tea shop? that sounds hollow" even the writer knows
After playing Age of Decadence inspired by your video I'm now playing this. Really enjoying it, just amazing to think it was made by a savant developer that knew barely anything about video games or game development. The reactivity is good and the mod keeps surprising me. I hope you'll do ADWR part 2. I'm really curious, but it seems technically janky.
Back when I wrote my own passion project RPG / interactive novel, I was in a similar position. It was TERRIBLY coded and probably 100 people at most played it but the lack of formal knowledge gave the whole thing a charm I never could recapture. Pure lighting in a bottle. I can actually code & write these days and the result is I can't recreate such a coherent mess. I now know why it's a bad idea to design that way. I didn't back then so I just kept working until something usable came out of it. Basically, for weirdly large passion RPG projects you're paradoxically better off knowing less, not more, as you'll look past the obvious design flaws and just bullishly stick to your vision until the end. Much like this mod's creator I also came back years later to fix up my naive creation & it now sits abandoned on my website, likely never to be played again. I definitely won't. Just looking at it gives me anxiety after that 10 year dev cycle and it'll always be my best game, even if I do a proper one in future. No one sane writes a plot with 7 joinable factions, 4 unique endings, and a 5th alternate ending where you destroy the world, etc - an insanity with more words in it than the LOTR trilogy, and does it all alone. That just is not a reasonable project. I presume it's similar for this thing's creator. Got older & wiser and will likely never outdo this creation.
Hi! I almost never comment, but I wanted to say I think your videos are awesome and I have enjoyed every one of them wholeheartedly. I think your channel is well above the quality your number of subscribers would indicate. I hope your channel continues to grow and you are very successful!

"Good" is debatable but there is also Demonheart, which nowadays also exists as a Steam visual novel. So you can tell the author is passionate about it, at least (bit too much ... "bad boy" "romance" for me though).
“Thus the name” is my favorite running joke and it makes me laugh every time
Holy shit I can't believe you did a thing for THIS of all modules. One thing I always found funny about it is that it was literally never made to see the light of day: The creator and writer for it was basically building it as a personal smut fantasy when her friend saw it and told her she should publish it.
Personal smut fantasy which offers smarter overall design than a lot of AAA RPGs that came after. It's strange.

Well I would guess Daggerford would go first.
This is why warlockracy is awesome
He's our true Eastern European view on video games that we got on youtube.
This is like a **lot** of plot for a personal smut fantasy
The adult skyrim modding community would beg to differ
Neverwinter Nights content is like crack to a past-addict who's ready to start again
I would shit my pants if the FSB/CIA/whatever alphabet agency paid a visit to my front door.
(also because people in america would loose their shit if the fbi started spooking randoms over tweets)
i dont think the fsb would bother with curtsies if they have a reason to suspect you. you'd get bagged and relocated, then questionned. there's records of that, people suspected of things, proven or not, getting arrested any time, anywhere in russia and then released whenever someone bothered checking if they were POI's or not.
and you bet the fsb is spooky in that manner, cuz you just dont know what's coming. who knows, you might break your neck while getting out of the police car.
@@comethiburs2326you're naive if you think the FBI doesn't keep tabs on social media
Holy fuck i haven't thought about NWN, much less this ancient fan module in over a decade. You are a man of culture Mr. Warlockracy
I thought the same, then I noticed that the visuals looked somewhat different than I remembered. I looked it up and it turns out the module has continued to receive major upgrades, even as recently as last year! Not so ancient after all.
A Dance with Rogues is one of my greatest loves, truly I love this mod and all its faults! all the characters and narrative are so well made, as a woman I really felt seen when I played this, it's definitely not for all people but not everything needs to appeal to a majority.
edit*
adwr borrows many well-loved throps from the dark romance community, you can find a lot of these fetish elements in romance books such as A Court of Thorns and Roses, From Blood and Ash, Bow Before the Elf Queen etc.
It definitely looks super interesting if a bit grim I’ve been looking to get into neverwinter nights I may start with this
@@jeck988 If you are interested in this story specifically, its a very well done user made module.

Most of my expirience with nwn actually comes from playing this module, the sheer number of ways you can express yourself during dialogue (even if it's just flavor text) is something that no fancy 3D graphics and voice acting can beat. Descriptive text is where it's at for RPG's.

The biggest challenge about this module is finishing it without having all your character's holes stuffed.
That's the exact opposite of the point of the game.
@@josephmatthews7698 though you can try to make an assexual roleplay, its in there as well, since the trauma of the princess can justify that
I went and played this module because of this video and enjoyed it quite a bit.

I even have vague memories of trying it. I have no idea when I did, but I do remember playing it... It was a bit too dreary for my tastes though. But I don't like A Song of Ice and Fire either. The game really makes you feel like a vulnerable woman in an occupied country, and how terrifying it would be.

Just a tip to whoever watches this video and decides to play the module:

City of Arabel is STILL running?
I remember playing on there from 2008-2011ish, really good memories from that time. Pretty formative experience.
NWN multiplayer servers were amazing. Unfortunately, some of the best RP servers also have the most incestuous communities.
I also suggest the Swordflight module series, it's a great blend of roleplaying, exploration and combat, the author managed to make interesting solo fights and dungeon in NWN, and there is so much content and details it could be a full game

Warlockracy probably shares this opinion.

I really wanna know how that'll end up.
We’re getting closer and closer to hentai game reviews and I don’t know what to do
This is a hentai game.
Yes! Please make more NWN module reviews, it's a niche still not exploited by anyone yet and the quality of your work fits really well.
i know in these days of war its hard, but i love yours shit and i hope that makes life little eazier.
Still looking forward to Mask of the Betrayer at some point lol.
Good video Warlock. I wish your continued health and success.
I wasn't expecting this modules haha. It is one of my favorites
I’d love to see part 2! NWN 1 is such an underrated game!
I played a ton of these modules back in the day but the only ones I still remember anything about is ADWR and Tales of Arterra. Thank you for this trip down memory lane :)
If this had anymore assault I'd think it was written by Steven Seagal.
Oh how awesome.... I'm super digging everything about the backstory of this and the person who made it, right down to the whole obvious inspiration from the ASoIaF books when they were relevant in fantasy circles and before it became a big mainstream thing with the HBO adaptation (which I had serious problems with from the first season, couldn't keep watching because I felt like they were screwing up or leaving out really important parts right from the start... and I felt so validated in that judgement when it came out what utter frauds the showrunners were, and how they immediately made it obviously awful to everyone as soon as they ran out of material to adapt)... just the whole idea that something like this was the product of exposing an intelligent 12 year old girl to some... yes, definitely age inappropriate material.... in the ASoIaF books and then being given the freedom to create something in Neverwinter Nights when she was older... lol I almost feel compelled to play this, like I would regret it if I didn't now that I know about it : D
Thank you for doing this video, I'm going to have to learn how to play NWN now just for this lol
I'm overjoyed to see the Vault still exists. If you're incredibly old you'll remember a time when many popular games had a "vault" site.
Incredible! Time to reinstall Neverwinter Nights. Love your presentations, Warlockracy!
In this Episode of Warlockracy, can he find love???
It's so strange seeing this mod still get updated. I remember playing it in 2007 or 2008 or something, it looked completely different back then and didn't have half the content in this video, and yet it delivered complete experience. I came back to the mod sometime in 10s and it was updated and looked different. The part 2 even had two new companions. And now in 2022 it yet again looks different.
Ayyy, if it's your wedding congratulations brother, always glad to hear people following what makes them happy.
"...she isn't broken by her tragic past..." (paraphrasing) Man, sometimes my brain is like that tree, and you're like those elves scurrying around in there, making cookies! 👍
Definitely want to see part 2! Fond memories of this module, though it seems it has changed since I played 6 years ago.
"The tea shop is where we practice swordfighting."
We're just gonna... that's just normal here? Alright, clearly not the weirdest thing in this mod.
It's an Asian-themed tea shop and naturally the locals are masters of combat arts.
one of the dialog you can choose when you were told to do that was something along the line of "martial arts and tea shop? that sounds hollow"
even the writer knows
