@@nsv8613 I'm from South Africa! At the moment things are quite dire unfortunately, as corruption and incompetence are hollowing out the country's infrastructure and government processes. One of the most pressing issues is that of our energy grid, which has lead to loadshedding measures taking place on our national energy grid, which are essentially scheduled blackouts at certain times, which depending on the stage of loadshedding, can range from 2 hours to 4 hours or more at a time. Among many other problems, be it inflation, crime, difficulty finding employment, it often feels like being aboard a sinking ship. I hate to deliver you such a depressing reply haha, so I'll talk about the history of the country briefly! South Africa has a very rich and interesting history, one marred with racism, struggle, and opression, but interesting nonetheless. And since it had only (comparatively) recently broken free of Apartheid, there are many many people who can tell give you countless first-hand accounts of what it was like living in apartheid and resisting it. One such person is my dad himself for example! A lot of the social issues in the country center around race, which in a number of ways persist today, as is the nature of things like that. In my opinion, something that makes reconciling it more difficult is the influence of American race politics skewing people's attitudes here, because while there is racism, its a completely different context; namely that the population is majority black, for example. And that a lot of racism here (if I'm choosing to be charitable) from white people comes from attitudes purposefully cultivated by the Apartheid government. If you're interested, look up Hendrik Verwoerd, thought of as the architect of Apartheid. One of the lines of thought that he cultivated in a lot of white people's minds at the time of Apartheid was that the various cultures within the country were completely imiscible, and that it would be 'better' if people lived separately, by race. And it just so happened that the white people got all the best land and black people didn't (if you want to learn about that look up homelands and forced removals during apartheid). Things like that are interesting to learn about, in spite of the malice behind them when they were perpetrated. Something I think is cool is that South Africa has a habit of popping up unexpectedly in places, like the first successful heart transplant was conducted by a South African doctor, Christian Barnard; or that the iconic Halo sniper rifle was directly inspired by one produced by the South African company Denel. In short, this country can be summarised as a lot of struggle, stemming from colonialism and the Apartheid machine, from which the country managed to break away comparatively peacefully (without a civil war specificelly), but over time as the old guard (Nelson Mandela, OR Tambo, etc.) passed away it gave way to greed and corruption that has induced the fall from comparative grace the country is currently experiencing. I didn't set out to type such a long reply but I hope it was interesting nonetheless!

Those games are considered to be boomer RPGs or its your take? Big 4 boomer RPGs are Ultima, Might and Magic, Bard's Tale and the best one - Wizardry. Then you have Golden Box titles following Pool of Radiance formula. The last boomer RPGs I would say were Realms of Arkania, Darklands and Betrayl at Krondor all coming out in the early 90s.
@@ComradeReptiloid Interesting question. I get the impression that the boomer in RPG's may not have anything to do with the actual boomer gen, since I have heard the 80's and early 90's RPG's referred to as pre-boomer. As a gen X'er, I grew up on Bard's Tale and Ultima. Also worth noting that I don't know a single boomer who ever played Doom or Wolfenstein, but those seem to be referenced as boomer shooters. Closest thing were some early gen X'ers that played Marathon, but they might have been close to the boomer/gen X cusp. Suffice to say, naming and classification might be more a matter of convention than it is about concept.

"Hidden Gem" is an overused term but this channel is absolutely one of them. Hour-long retrospectives on boomer RPGs just hits the spot.
....really? maybe you should look closely. you dropped an ANOTHER overUSED term. or rather, a meaning made up by some sick weirdo that just crawled out of his hole to have an excuse to create it, just like with others of its "kind". why the hell you people are still making that sick crap? ugh, at this point, nobody in this world are no longer the proper, sane people that pull this crap out of their heads on to the endless pit that is the internet. you can call me insane, crazy, psychotic, whatever, but
there is no absolute point of doing IT at all,
"just for sh*ts and giggles" is just some excuse that doesn't prove anything, as for other dumb reasons.

I know right? I would propose teaming him up with Carl the Deranged and Alfabusa to create a twisted mod of some kind, but then I don't want an interruption to what he is already doing.
@@induspherix In this context boomer media is from (or influenced by) the 90s. It's connected to a meme called the 30-year-old boomer, in which the character has a "good old days" mindset taken from stereotypical baby boomers.
Your content is the most unique thing I've witnessed in a long time, this combination of old video games and contemporary political issues is a match made in heaven. Please be very careful out there.
Actually no. I for one would rather he stick to the boomer video games (in the context of this channel at least)... Considering the mess in the east, and his proximity to it, I get why our lovely host feels the need to mention it, especially when it's somehow relevant to the game at hand, but beyond that I for one don't care for politics on this channel. I just love the way you write these. The metaphors, the analogies, the subtle yet marked dissent. I live in São Paulo, Brazil, we also have our sigil, a place where all converges, a rich avenue mired in poverty, where communist and fascists march, where the biggest pride parade in the world happens and where, in the following week, conservatives throw a march for Jesus to honor "god and country". An avenue where anarchists and bankers make their home, and addicts and the desperate flock. Paulista avenue, Babylon's heart. Went to many a protest there, went to my first pride there, got robbed there, and ran from police for the first time there. I felt this video to be a sort of goodbye to your Sigil, I hope you meet mine one day. Good luck friend, and be safe.
Thank u
Cara, esse teu comentário é sensacional pqp, eu nunca tinha parado pra refletir sobre a Paulista, mas é um lugar peculiar, onde a história se converge de uma forma muito doida

Fish can see some color, but its reduced. Often its more or less contrast of color and movement that they are triggered by (IE a hot pink jig will stick out more in muddy water to them than a black one). Always a fan of your content, thanks for bringing old gems to the forefront.
I know they perceive light very well, hence why shiny lures are so effective.
It boggles my mind how this channel doesn't have a larger following, but knowing what government Warlock lives under, I'm glad he's still under the radar.
can't wait for your 2.5 hour deus ex invisible war video. godspeed
Every month, just when I am at my lowest point and convinced that there is no light in the world, a new Warlockracy video drops and my will to live is restored.
Even on rewatch, “I have calculated the possibilities, Daniel, kyiv will fall in 3 days” has me cracking a rib
If only there was some deus ex mod that's fully voice acted and has an in game bookstore that contains reflections on the plot of deus ex and also full on fanfics
Lol
Ah, the Nameless Mod
I would just like to say that I discovered your content just recently enough for you to quickly become my favorite UA-camr. The type of nerd content that you peddle is something you can get elsewhere - except for the fact that the mixture of Eastern European perspective, geopolitics and a fascinating window into an entire world of fan games unknown in most of the English-speaking world is something I didn't know I needed, until you gave it to us! Thank you for your work.
I'm so glad you uploaded. I just caught up on my socio-political commentary subscriptions and really need a break from face-palming and head shaking.
You eat shit voluntarily? Noted.
Played Arcanum(Yes I know that vid was a year ago) and found myself using parts of your video as a guide, thanks for the steam engine quest trick especially, wonderful review/geopolitical theme all around for these vids!
"All of my friends left by now, I'm leaving soon" Warlockracy the slavic Luke Skywalker
That was some heavy stuff towards the end brother. Leaving home is never easy, but I'm glad you're getting out of Russia. I wish you safe travels wherever you go. Your perspective on the design and mechanics of CRPG's is truly remarkable. Among the very best on this site in my opinion. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Fallout 2.
Well. It is easy. If one is not considering it home anymore.
I was just rewatching your previous Deus Ex video today!!!! Love your work!!!!
Been watching your original Dues Ex video over and over for that last couple of days, the way you explain the story really helps me fall asleep. It’s always a treat when you upload.
I love the tidbits of Warlockracy irl lore lol
I can't thank you enough for entertaining and educating us so much. You are the best
I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate your videos. They're all so comfy and show off great mods I'd never see otherwise.
I've always loved having a bit of insight into a place I know little about weaved into telling me about games I may or may not know anything about. Thanks for the video, Warlock. Hope your move goes well.
Like others mentioned, that was some heavy stuff at the end- thank you for being so open with everyone about it. I'm nearly 30 and my best friends since american high school are leaving the city (we've been a group for 15-20 years now) to go halfway across the nation and it's a different kind of hard. Glad to hear you're getting out tho.
I also want to thank you for how much respect you give these mods and how you look at them like extensions of the source material. You're not critical of them like a teacher who demands the best, but as someone whos enthused by the creators life story and how it influences and shows in their work. I feel like you're more frustrated not simply by poor story, but by the creators thinking people don't want to hear about their culture or experiences, which is one reason (aside from the very interesting dives into ethnicity in Russian socioeconomics) I keep rewatching your videos.
I watched all of your videos and a new one is always like a mini holiday for me 💪 your game related stuff is incredible, but all of the things cleverly mixed in, like politics etc is what makes this channel unique to me. Greetings from Poland!!!🇵🇱
I didn't expect such a hard hitting ending like that. Thank you for doing what you're doing.
Thanks for another video, your stuff helps me out a lot getting through college
I played deus ex because of your videos. Excited to see what this is!
It's SO fucking good man. Enjoy!
Super interesting project, and a fantastic sounding board through which to explore irl lore. Thanks for the video, and I'm sorry you're being displaced. Much love ❤
I had to rewatch the ending a few times to comprehend what you were really saying. I'm sorry your home turned out to not be what you were told it should be. I wish you luck and happiness wherever you find yourself. Thank you for your hard work and entertaining spirit!
Every time i see a new video from Warlockracy, i get an instant dopamine rush, leave everything i was doing and go watch the video. Also a great choice of games/mods plus the way they are interpreted. Not to mention that i have watched the full original Deus Ex video like 10 times. Great content, keep it up!
IDK who you are, and this is the first video I've seen from you, but the line "the unreal engine one aesthetic is deeply underappreciated by ungrateful gamer folk and this sickens me" got you a new sub.
Excellent video as usual, loved the sarcastic political commentary. Leaving your homeland must be heartbreaking, we live in very strange times. I wish you well for what comes next. 🤞If only we had listened to Deux Ex:2077...
I think it is so cool to see you make videos on mods and break down what happens in a funny way. I also love when you interlace things with your IRL life. It shows another part of the world I will never probably get to see. Because someone many years ago pissed off someone else and so now generations hate each other. World is wack. Keep up the good stuff man. 10/10 vid.
Glad to see another upload, youre criminally underrated.

Always awesome to see one of your new posts, and I do hope wherever you move to gives you the breathing room to keep making banger videos. In Cuba I think it's 4:17 pm and it's almost time to go home after a long day of work and you make a new video, it's the best thing that can happen before I leave work, well YES, thanks Warlockracy friend
Your video, specifically personal revelations, have hit deep and made me feel so melancholic tonight. I've been struggling with my sense of identity because of how the Russian state has tarnished anything I could've related to.I hope to leave and stay with my girlfriend, but even if... when I do, I will carry this hole in my heart. I don't know who I am, Ukrainian and Kazakh, Polish and Belarusian, my ancestors were exiled to Siberia for various reasons, but all of them were successfully assimilated. So I have no culture, no home I can feel I relate to.
This is a little late, but as an American who loves listening to this Russian guy go on about my favorite games, it seems like we're all doomed to have our national identity bite us in the ass. I can listen to this guy from a nation I was taught was our enemy and relate to him better than the guy who lives right next door to me. I laugh at his jokes, I get his dumb references to video games from when I was in high school. I think we were all lied to. I don't think the maps are all that important to anyone but the people drawing them. "He who stands with me shall be my brother" (40k, not Shakespeare, ha ha)
Thanks for the personal stuff Mr Warlockracy! What you are doing here is really special!

The disassociation of Slavs and Russian intelligentsia from Russian-ness in recent years is a truly fascinating phenomenon. As a friend of mine used to say, "even the Russian royalty was East-German". Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the subject.
It benefited Imperial Russia and the USSR to push the notion of Russian unity. It's taken a long time since the fall of the Soviet Union for attitudes to change, but I suppose it's taken a couple new generations to start questioning the why of things.
