Portrait of a lady . With my eyes closed, I was guessing an Oud & Rose combination enhanced with Musk. I've heard a lot about it, so maybe that's why I'm disappointed. An elegant perfume with nicely matched notes, balanced, with a real olfactory dimension. But what saddens me is that I feel like I've smelled it before... many times before. A Cypriot Rose, aromatic and woody. The spicy Patchouli gives it an exotic aspect, like a Cambodian or Laotian Oud. A Rose raised by a trio Musk, Blackcurrant and Raspberry omnipresent. I have ghostly and chypre scents of Coriander, Ambrette, Styrax, Mugwort and Chamomile. Released in 2010 this is a precursor, but it reminds me of so many others: - "Rose & White Musk Absolute" Jo Malone - "Rose Exaltante" Mizensir - "White Patchouli" Tom Ford - "Cafe Rose" Tom Ford - Rose Oud" Nicolai Parfumeur - etc... 7,5/10

Great review. Im a man and I wear this parfum, although its true that some friends say to me it smells like lady..but I really dont care coz its a great fragrance and I wear parfum most of all for myself ;) Musk ravageur and Monsieur are more man like probably, but some women wear them also..;Frederic Malle likes to target his parfums as mixtes.
Awsome review i liked it a lot. Like this fragrance and in my opinion a great more masculine designer version of this is Costume national homme. Have you tried that fragrance? It’s intersting you perceive it as powdery. I get dark woody spices and maaaay be some rose. And, yes, wet dirty patchouli. How different are we)))
I finally got to smell this one yesterday and I am floored! I really loved it. To me it smells like full-bodied rose and sweat (maybe it’s the musk & spices). It’s so sexy to me! But you know I love my powdery scents. 😂😂 I would want to own it one day, but not today because the price tag is a huge deterrent for me. Loved hearing your take on it as always! 😊

I saw on your Facebook page that this one you reviewed is a reformulation. Do you know when it was changed up? I've got a bottle and it doesn't quite sound the way you describe it (and I don't often think your observations are off the mark...). Curious to know.
apparently the original is darker, more incense, more patchouli... but I never smelled the old one. It's when FM sold his company, he sold it I think because of the new IFRA restrictions, instead of him reformulating himself, he sold the company... and who took over, then reformulated. I think it was maybe one year ago now ? Probably a bit more I am not too sure... Might be two years
I had heard so much about this fragrance but when I tried it, it was too much, too heavy for me. Potpourri is the best way to describe it. I like potpourris but not on me. If it was more soft than spicy, I would’ve liked it for sure.
I’ve encountered very few scrubbers in my fragrance journey but this was one of them. To me it smelled like an old lady. I could not stand the smell of it for a second. I know it gets rave reviews but it doesn’t work for me.

Peter...let me tell you exactly how it smells like to my nose. It smells exactly like “Roja Supari” -it’s s beetle nut brand available in India. Each packet costs 10 paise ( Indian equivalent of cents ). Lot of people chew on this beetle nut and so I am accustomed to this smell since my childhood. There’s a lingering smell to it even after you’ve chewed the nut. So, there you go...Potrait of a lady smells exactly like this 10 paise beetle nut. That’s why I am disappointed in this scent and don’t find it amusing.
A lot of Frederic malles ate shit when the regulation hit and this one is no exception. The old form had aggressive amounts of natural rose and patch and then it was killed. Read Frederic malles interview on the subject. Perfumery is dead

you live in Indonesia? - I've been there already... but only to Jakarta, I worked there with an offshore company called Seascape, took a holiday in Bali afterwards! - for a woman I think I prefer Satin Mood MFK over this one personally

Honestly speaking, this scent gives me a headache. I also gave this to my colleagues at work to try without informing them about my opinion. Almost everybody felt this perfume gave them headache and they also felt it was unpleasant. A big thumbs down to the perfume.

It is cheaper than tom ford private blend.
