The flat is now owned by Sir Rodney Walker who amongst many interests is the Vice Chairman of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, hence the statue which is a replica of the Terracotta Army sculptures, although he raised a few eyebrows when he painted gold, Savile’s favourite colour. He also owned the flat underneath which he sold to Liz Dawn from Coronation Street. I live in Scarborough and still remember seeing Jimmy Savile on that balcony in a white robe looking like the Pope waving at people.
Thanks for posting this. Savile bought the flat in the 60's, not the 70's. He originally rented a flat on the ground floor before buying the flat (number 9) that he kept for the rest of his life. I know a lot of people think it was weird that he preserved his mother's bedroom and her belongings - I didn't think there was anything wrong with that. It was everything else he did that was seriously creepy. Savile is buried in Woodlands Cemetery a couple of miles from Wessex Court.
