If it was the switch would your bike still. Be able to change gears bc I have to bump start it and it runs but it makes no sound when I try to turn It over it's just silent
1. Bridge the starter relay with a screwdriver (safely, sparks will fly) to see if the starter works. If it does, you have a wiring problem 2. Check clutch safety switch. Try to start with clutch pulled. There are ways to bypass it 3. Check kickstand safety switch. This shut off my bike on the highway when I hit bumps because the tension spring was worn.. Try to start with kickstand up, or bypass it.
+jetroar17 When it is acting up, getting 5 volts on starter side of solenoid. Have 3 solenoids now and about to put fresh one in. I will check other components kick stand and clutch ie ohms thru circuit. Call me 443-766-0080.
Stephen Lamber Sorry friend, not sure what your symptoms are but there's only a few things I can recommend after solving a similar problem myself awhile ago. 1. Obviously buy new battery or trickle charge old battery. Check/Clean battery connections. 2. Bypass/disable clutch safety switch. Fairly easy to do. If you have lights etc but everything turns off when you hit the starter, this is your problem. 3. Bypass Kickstand safety switch. Otherwise halfway through the season your engine will cut off every time you hit a decent bump. The spring that holds the kickstand up doesn't even last a summer. Be careful not to forget to raise the kickstand before riding though!! 4. Check cam timing. If you opened up the engine and reinstalled the camshafts wrong, it might turn but won't start. Ask me how I know...lol
+jetroar17 Replaced starter, starter gear, solenoid, ignition switch, and battery. This problem is usually after it sits overnight. When the battery charge starts to go down, it will turn starter on a good day. Once motor starts problem goes away. When not working, voltage on starter side of solenoid starts at 12 then drops to about 8.5 volts. I have been all over this bike and cannot find the problem. Checked clutch switch, starter button, and kickstand switch. Just ordered starter switch /kill switch handlebar housing. Really frustrated not making this bike reliable. My roommates job depends on this fix. 443.766.0080 is cell or mike_mcadam_21286atyahoodotcom
Michael McAdam Do not check the safety switches, bypass them.. The more wires required for the start, the more complicated the start becomes, and the less reliable your start will be. Fewer wires, fewer problems. All my starting problems went away after bypassing the clutch and kickstand safety switches (with huge emphasis on the clutch switch). Not sure if I can offer more advice than that. EDIT: I didn't have to replace my starter switch but that's a good item to cross off the list. I usually only by new hardware as a last resort because I'm cheap like that..
Make sure you get twelve volts when the starter switch is closed, if nto check the clutch saftey switch. If that and your kickstand switch are ok and have the proper voltage then its your starter relay.
Sorry for the late response but it ended up being the starter... Posted this a while ago. Seems so silly i didn't try whacking the starter before posting the video. But now you guys will know 1 of the many symptoms.
Had cold starting issues myself. Replaced starter, starter relay, and battery one at a time and still in the morning starter clicks. after a while of switching on and off, it evertually turns over. Anyone have a clue whats going on.
Correct me if im wrong, shouldnt you be holding the clutch in while trying to start it ?
Anon. Yep he should be. Bypassed mine cut n twist then liquid electrical tape
Correct
Yup....
Its the little switch under the clutch lever with the two prongs. You have to squeeze the Clutch before you start it. Its a safety switch.
Thank you!!! Haha. I tore my bike apart and forgot about those two prongs. You're a life saver.

So how’d you fix it
Do you know how many turn out the pilot air screw mixture ?
I also think the battery was the issue. Motorcycles are very picky about having a good battery.
Check on the left handle where the clutch lever is that's going to be your sensor that could cause the problem
I believe I ended up replacing the starter solenoid and it didn't do anything so I put the old one back on and for some reason it started.
Had cold starting issues myself. Replaced starter, starter relay, and battery one at a time and still in the morning starter clicks. after a while of switching on and off, it evertually turns over. Anyone have a clue whats going on.
Use the clutch when starting
Pull in the clutch
Did you ever find out the /problem???
hey man , i have the same problem. did you ever get that fixed? if so what was the issue?
it won't start with the kick start down. Atleast mine doesn't lol
