- Relaxing haircut & hair styling in the newly remodeled "historic" 성우이용원 Seongu Barbershop in Seoul, South Korea.
In 1927, Mr. Lee’s grandfather opened the barbershop. At that time, he was the second Korean who was given a permit for barbering by the occupying Japanese.
It was in the 1960s when Mr. Lee began cutting hair. He learned everything from his dad and worked with him until his dad decided to retire. In the 1960s, Mr. Lee remembers there used to be 4-5 barbers working at the shop.
Shortly after filming with Mr. Lee in 2019, a severe storm damaged his shop beyond repair. Mr. Lee told us thankfully no customers were in the shop at the time!
Sadly, restoration was not possible so a new barbershop was constructed instead. Mr. Lee says he is very happy with the new shop and enjoys working there 💈❤️ He has been overwhelmed with lots of new customers visiting the shop now so he continues to be very busy cutting hair.
Although his beloved shop has changed, inside the spirit of the old shop remains... The potato starch, watering cans, bar soap to wash your hair, vinegar rinse, pink towels, and red phone ☎️
Mr. Lee has been keeping an eye on the number of views his videos have and is amazed with the popularity of our original videos! 🙌🏼

Mr. Lee is a little over 5’ tall so uses a footstool to stand on while working with his customers. You’ll also see him still using potato starch in my hair as a visual aid. In the past, barbers used powders that contained asbestos so Mr. Lee switched to potato starch as it is not harmful.

Harry, the minute I saw you return to OKID, I knew you'd have to stop by Mr. Lee's! I've been sooo excited for this video. The first one is my all-time favorite, and this follow-up did not disappoint either. I'm thrilled for his new, updated shop. He deserves it so very much. His passion for the craft is evident. No doubt on Mr. Lee's skill and professionalism, Somewhere I miss watching his old vintage barbershop. That shop was an absolute ASMR element.
The way he setup the cape at the beginning is the most ingenious way I've ever seen someone do that, it was legitimately fascinating to watch

I’m unable to watch the whole video because I keep rewinding the first couple of minutes mesmerized by the detail and care Mr. Lee takes in perfectly fitting the barber cape.
The first Seongu video with Mr. Lee is one of my all time favorite youtube videos. Sad to hear that his old shop was destroyed, but glad to see him back at it! Thanks for sharing!!

All around. Has to be the most enjoyable haircut experience for Harry. He literally does everything. Sad he didn't have a self hair adjustment at the beginning though
I don't think many people realize how impressive this man's cutting technique is. He cuts hair how they're supposed to be cut, meaning based on your head shape and how your hair naturally falls. There's no fancy stuff, but you can notice in the end how natural and nice it looks on Harry. It's becoming a lost art of the older gen of barbers.
Mr. Lee is always a joy to watch. New shop, but it still has the old school charm.

I really like Mr. Lee's technique of following and shaping based on how the hair lies. It's like draping vs drafting a clothing pattern. As someone with a lumpy scalp and wavy hair, I'd love to find someone with his methods and talents

I was hoping y’all would go back after the remodel. I’m sure Mr. Lee was stoked to have a fresh shop giving even more fresh cuts and shaves! 🤙🏻 I dig the angles y’all took, especially of him going in an out of his drawers, very professional and clean. I also love the fact that even though he has adjustable faucets on his sink, he still uses his old watering can to rinse off the shampoo, keeping some originality.
