I usually do 3 laps. 1st lap checking all slides are in. 2nd lap locking all door and compartments. 3rd lap overall scanning the whole trailer. Driving 33 years for UPS, we were required do to do a daily pre trip, so it’s a normal thing for me.
If you do start taking it out, be sure to store it in a lower cabinet. If you store it up high, it will karate chop you in the face when you open the cabinet at the end of the travel day... Speaking from experience.
Those times we didn’t do a thorough walk around we definitely forgot something. When we had our TT we forgot to put the steps away. With our fifth wheel, I was interrupted when lifting the front jacks so they weren’t fully lifted when we set off. Thankfully no major mishaps happened in either instance but only because we were lucky. Yeah having more than one person do a good-look walk around is invaluable.
I haven’t used a paper road altlas for years, but would be a good idea to check the highways. You need a pool noodle to hold down the glass in the microwave, we have used it for 4 years, no problems. Tug test every time! The walk around is really important, everytime we leave, at every rest stop, walk around and feel the tires and rims for heat. Im glad there is a solitude in the colab instead of alliance. How about an endscreen with a playlist will all the videos in the colab, makes it easier to move to the next video. Larry
We have left the glass in as well and have been lucky so far. Here’s to walking around the rig more than once. Have caught something I missed on the 2nd pass.
As an old trucker & farm boy, I love the fact you use the laminated trucker atlas. We use it all the no matter what we are driving....and to be honest im better with a MAP than GPS😊...We tugged commercialy and will when we get our 5th wheel....love your tips....and you can never be to careful or safe.
Thank you for your comment! It's hard to beat a laminated trucker atlas. Most spend hundreds on GPS, but we too always prefer a tried and true way. Safe travels, and thanks for watching!
Everything was repaired, and we've had no issues since. We made a final video of everything GD did, and it can be found in the repairs playlist on our channel if you are curious.

Good to know we always leave the glass in. Will be sure to take it out!!

Thanks for watching!
We can't imagine traveling with kids. That adds a whole other element. I would probably accidentally leave one at the campground like Joe Dirt. 😂
🤣🤣
I noticed you have a residential refrigerator . How do you keep it powered on a travel day before Arriving to your next hook up ?
Our factory inverter kept it running from the factory while traveling. Now, too, with our off grid system, it is kept running while traveling.
@TravelsAbound Thank you for your quick reply and for the information
@TravelsAbound stay safe and enjoy your travels. I love watching your videos
What ever happened with your frame issues from last year?
