I am a hardcore player preparing my trip and “grind” during go fest. My plan is to use spacial rend with AR catch screen for maximum encounters and zigzag through the streets of midtown and the financial district. I’ve also never been to New York so I’m going to take a few days after all the mindless grinding to really enjoy the city and soak in all the culture, including food, museums, monuments, and views. I’m so excited!
Thank you for making this video! I am so excited for GO Fest.
As a hardcore player, I can confirm I was at Bryant Park for Slowpoke CD. Some people put up golden lures. Cell service seemed slow at times, but otherwise it was great. Can’t imagine how crowded it will be during the event
OMG yes! Thank you for including the mentioning of Astoria Park. I was hoping you'd give some insight on it, glad to hear it's a pretty good spot! I'm coming in from LI so planning on doing the PM city experience in Astoria Park. The food in Astoria doesn't hurt either! 😄 Awesome video, thank you!
Thank you so much for this, and all your other videos about gofest I have yet to watch! I’m going with my mom and aunt and we’re all well-traveled enough but the city is still a little intimidating as we are from way upstate near the Great Lakes lol. Taking note of all the good info you provide for our trip🥰 good luck to you at the event if you’re attending!!
This is the video I've been looking for! Thank you!
Fly to NYC on Monday! So excited🎉😊
I'll be travelling solo to NYC for the first time and will be staying at a hotel next to central park, thanks for the recommendations, I'm looking forward to experiencing the city while catching a few cool pokemon along the way.
Cheers-
I would also like to recommend Battery Park City for a lot of spawns and views of the Statue of Liberty, and theres a lot of gyms between the Charging Bull and City Hall Park for Downtown Manhattan.
Thank you for these videos! I’m flying in Wednesday afternoon!
We’re going Tuesday until Sunday! Lots of time to do touristy stuff and play! And I have tickets for the Bronx Zoo on Friday, which is my day of extra play, so I’ll probably lure up a pile of stops there lol.
During the event, there will be Gofest related gyms and stops. So for areas like Hudson yards, there will be more content. I’ll stick to BP and grind hard. During Osaka weekend I got about 3M dust.
Another super helpful and great video i think ima do a mixture of wverything bc its my first time in NY i do want to experience alot of things but my goal is to get more than 100 shinies over the three days so ill try to go as hard as i can while making memories
Hey what’s up. Thanks for info. Where heading in early Friday to jam around the city. Then Saturday hit the big event at 2, the video helps a lot.
Could you make a video about how does the touchless MTA and fares work for the bus or metro sub
Good luck everyone on go fest wish I could take the family but it’s too far away
Bryant Park and Time Square is home base to all of the spoofers around the world like UA-camr New Zealand Lifting Zombies . It Next to Grand Central with two comic book stores nearby and a Pokemon trading card store you are quantified to get a full lobby for a 5/6 star raid.
I'M SO EXCITED!
🙌
Coney Island is one of the spots I’d love to see. Grab a Nathan’s famous hot dog or go on that Ferris wheel. Walk on the beach maybe.
Any tips on where to park for the weekend? Street parking in the Bronx?
Did you forget about southstreet seaport? Its great, and great food and views! Lots of pokestops!
Solid rec! It was better spring of last year when Niantic hosted official community meet ups there to get people outside again - there were a ton of extra special stops and gyms. But they took them away like June 2022 so I remember being slightly more disappointed going there after that lol. But you're totally right, there's lots of food options and cool views down there
I was pretty adventurous this weekend (at cost of my shiny count and my feet) but the place I went that I thought was absolutely stunning was Riverstate State Park up to The Little Red Lighthouse.
Nice!!! That park has great views albeit a bit hilly to get to!
@@MrsMime100 Yeah the walk back to Harlem in particular was pretty rough I can't lie lmao. Thankfully there were benches to save the day
what about Lincoln Center & Southstreet Seaport? Which part of manhattan has the most gyms?
I'm Casual but also Solo. I had the idea to get on one of those Hop-off/Hop-on tour buses and just doing loops while seeing touristy stuff.
Oooo yeah that's a perfect idea too! I've totally done that before when I visited new cities!
Already looked at this possibility but with what I’ve read, the traffic is so slow, you’ll end up not getting anywhere much 🤷♂️
Buses are so good for egg hatching because they are slow enough to count as steps and fast enough to get a lot in. You'll also totally be able to grab all the pokestops without hitting that speed barrier. Hop/on hop off would be perfect for Pokemon go.
Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx is a great spot too.
For sure!
@@MrsMime100 My buddies and I were thinking Van Cortlandt Park to bring back some memories. Are there a lot of stops/gyms? It’s been a while!
@@EFGoitia yes! I will also say there are active Wayfarers in the area so definitely an awesome amount of stops and gyms 😊
I like the peaches sax cover in the background
It's by @glitchxcity! I love it too!! 😆
Where is the best place insider Central park? I went for froakie CD in Bryant Park but didnt liked it.
I'm used to going to the park with a bunch of pokestops (more than 30) and i dont even need to walk. Is there a place like that in Central Park?
Hmm good question. Grand Army Plaza used to be that kind of spot but they've removed some gyms/stops so it's not quite as good anymore. Same with Columbus Circle. I can't really think of a place that has such a heavy concentration of stops that you wouldn't need to walk. But those two I mentioned can probably do well with a little bit of looping. I'll also add to that category: Bethesda Fountain and the Central Park Zoo.
Curious. I bought a morning park experience for Friday and Saturday, could I still play at 9am in the city if I choose not to go to the park ?
Great question - yes! You can totally choose to play the full day in the city instead of going to the park for half a day if you wanted to.
When are you going to do the video on the restaurants you reccomend?
It's being edited!
Im coming in from Laguardia is there any decent walkways to head towards randals?
Check out this video, it covers all the different bridges you can walk across to get to the park. Note that the one bridge from Queens is in fact the longest. Otherwise you can take the M60 bus from LaGuardia, get off at 125th street and 1st Ave and walk across the RFK bridge at 125th street (definitely shorter in length than the one from Queens).
ua-cam.com/video/ZH3OaoJbOvw/v-deo.html
can you do a video on the best nests/spots for community day?
looking for a place in nyc to farm froakies the entire time
Bryant park or Central Park are the best spots for community Day
would astoria park be a good option if youre stuck in queens? or Gantry?
I ❤ your tee-shirt, what show is that from again? It’s killing me I can’t remember
The Big Comfy Couch! I saw someone on Tik Tok with it and it unlocked a core childhood memory for me 😆 you can see I also went back to my parents house recently and snagged my originally Molly doll which now sits on the couch 😂
Curious are Mega Rayquaza raids only going to be in the Randall's Island park, or can they also be accessed anywhere in Manhattan? Also anywhere in the 5 boroughs? Also anyone can raid even if no ticket just that with no tucker you just can't get the mega energy till global?
From what we saw in London and Osaka, I believe the Rayquaza only appears in the city (not at the park). Yup, city play is supposed to be all 5 boroughs. Correct that anyone can join them, but only NYC GO Fest ticket holders will be able to receive mega energy and the meteorite item that allows it to get that special move it needs to mega evolve. If you have Global GO Fest ticket, you'll be able to do the mega Rayquaza raids on the 27th which will drop mega energy as well as the meteorite item, etc.
@@MrsMime100 thank you good to know. I'll still take advantage of the raids this weekend just to rack up the remaining Ray XL candy I need to max my shiny 93% Ray to lvl 50 as it's almost there at 47 but still need the several more XL candies so I can max it. Then by next weekend I'll give it the Meteorite for dragon ascent then grind the Mega energy
My girlfriend and I are walking from Randall’s park after the event to Times Square, like a two hour walk right!? Would you recommend that?
That's a really long walk!! Yeah probably two ish hours give or take. I personally wouldn't do it but more power to ya if you wanna try! 🫡😄 Walking through Central Park is quite nice - I'd probably recommend trying that, but walking for so long like that in the city in the summer can be really exhausting so be sure to bring water and comfy shoes! Also nothing wrong with hopping on the bus or subway if either of you don't wanna walk anymore 😅
So Manhattan is the best for doing as many raids as possible
Yup
Will Brooklyn be included in the Go Fest range this weekend?
For City Experience? Yup I believe so! All five boroughs of the city were included last year
Going to Go Fest coming from a very safe, very 2A friendly part of the Midwest - what parts are unsafe?
I would just say that you should generally just be paying attention to your surroundings whenever you are playing anywhere in the city, but if you're taking the bus or walking from 125th Street, pay extra attention to your surroundings there.
Don't take things if people are trying to hand you things (like CDs or flyers), try not to engage/make eye contact with anyone that might seem 'off' (best to remove yourself from those situations if you can like moving to a different subway car or crossing the street).
do the busses take apple pay? do i need a bus pass or anything ive never been on bus or subway 😭
Yes they do!
Lets gooooooooooooo
You comin' out for GO Fest??
@@MrsMime100 im here
Is there a particular section of central park thats good for playing pokemon go?
The area near Bethesda Fountain is solid overall (good amount of gyms and stops in a small area), but I think anywhere in the park south of the Reservoir (like below ~86th street) is great to walk around to spin lots of stops, get lots of spawns, and check out a lot of cool features of the park
Hello, I am going with my 6-year-old nephew on the day of the festival and he already has a ticket, but the account he uses belongs to his father, it is not for minors. Do you think there is a problem accessing the park?
He should be fine as long as the account is not logged in on two different phones at a time (like if your nephew's playing, his dad shouldn't be playing on the same account at the same time)
Is it 2.75 everytime you get on a bus? We get off at grand central station on Saturday. And Randall’s island is in afternoon. What should we do just walk to the island or do the bus or subway
Yup 2.75 every time, but you do get get one free transfer. So let's say you swipe once to get on the subway - when you get out of the subway station and swipe (using the same payment method as before) to get on the bus, the bus is considered a free transfer. So the subway+bus ride together in this scenario will only be 2.75.
If your playtime is Saturday afternoon, kind of depends on where you are playing in the city in the morning! If you're playing further downtown or Brooklyn in the morning then definitely take the subway and then either walk/take the X80 or m35bus/take the ferry
@@MrsMime100 thanks we want to go to lower Manhattan visit maybe world trad center memorial or something like that… then head north visit Central Park then go to Randall’s island… how close is some good pizza to the train station for dinner?
Also will you be at Randall’s island in afternoon?
My main concern is safety walking around the city, is it usually pretty safe around the city?
Yep! Just make sure you're paying attention to your surroundings and try to play with a small group if you can. As long as you're south of like 96th Street in Manhattan you'll get good Pokémon GO activity and should be able to find other players around you so you don't end up alone down a dark alley 😅
Interested to see the contrast between how this event will play out compared to what Kai Cenats event did
