Another super helpful tip that I don't see many people talk about: Google Maps is extremely accurate with public transit, including bus, subway, LIRR, and ferry. What I do is get directions to the park, change the mode to public transit, change the filters to remove driving and ride services, and change the time filter to "arrive by [your scheduled park start time]". It won't work for a day set months away, so set it to the next Friday/Saturday/Sunday to get an idea of the schedule on that specific day of the week. For those who need wheelchair accessibility, there's also a filter option for that. Google Maps is a Swiss army knife for public transport, especially for those new to the area.

I imagine most will go to Manhattan, but surely there are other places within the boroughs. Where exactly is the south entrance of the park for the GO fest (there's a north and south entrance for check in)? I saw the Wards Island pedestrian bridge connecting to manhattan and also saw some subway stops a few blocks from 103rd street.

Very informative and helpful. Unfortunately for my group we already booked an airbnb in the south Bronx, but it looks alright and is like 4 blocks from the closest way onto the island Edit: I should also add that out group consists of a few 20 and 19 year olds, and we choose airbnb over a hotel because hotels get super finicky about people under 21 checking in. Last gofest global we went to play in Philadelphia, only for the hotel to refuse to let us stay because there was nobody 21 or older to check us in. Calling ahead, we found that that will be a problem if we tried any of the hotels pokemon go is partnered with.

This was such a helpful video, thank you for going over all this! There really are a lot of bridges, I wonder how long they take to traverse on foot! (Nevermind once you're fighting a huge crowd...)
I have a parking garage booked on East 116th street I have south entrance ticket based on this video it looks like my parking is gonna be near RFK bridge that leads into the North Entrance I'm just wondering how far it is from North to South Entrance of the park
Sorry, I know little about NYC. You mentioned staying in Manhattan, Midtown, Queens, and saying South Bronx is kinda bad. Nearest to the Northern entrance is East Harlem. Any spots to stay there to limit the amount of walking?
Thank you for the tips. So where exactly is the North Entrance and South Entrance? Stupid me, I purchased the ticket not knowing the geography, and bought the North entrance, and gonna be staying in Queens (doh). Is that gonna be a problem?
The south entrance starts roughly the middle of the island where the Salt Marsh is. The North entrance is basically the baseball fields at the northwest side of the island. You're honestly probably gonna be fine - in recent years it really doesn't matter which entrance you come from because no one is checking - they want you to follow the ticket moreso to avoid bottlenecking at one entrance. I don't believe a ton of people will be coming from the Queens side though so you should probably be fine
You can but you don't need to! There are lots of reps on the streets who can sell you tickets on the spot (you'll see them in branded jackets/shirts and/or holding signs near the stops)
It's close-ish. The walk across the bridge to the park is the longest from Astoria compared to the ones from Manhattan or the Bronx. But the trade off is Astoria is a neat neighborhood with some pretty good authentic food (I'd recommend looking up Greek food in the area!)
Either is honestly fine! Anecdotally I've heard of more people who bought South tickets that intend to enter for the north side at 125th. But I'd go with whatever entrance you intend to enter from.
Question: I'm actually staying in a hotel right next to LaGuardia Airport. I noticed there was a bus route (M60) that takes me from LaGuardia to Randall's Island Park. Does it actually take me there? Or is there no Bus route coming from that side?
The M60 doesn't actually stop on Randall's Island, it just crosses over it to go to Manhattan. You can get off at the last stop in Astoria (just before the bridge) and walk it. It's a bit of a long walk coming from that side but I wouldn't say impossible!
I bought the ticket for the South Entrance does that means I have to get into Randall's Park through the East 103rd st or can I take on 125th st the M35 bus to the park.
They haven't been checking tickets for North or South Entrance at most of these events (last year GO Fest in NYC included!). When you get to the park, you'll be able to start playing during your ticketed park time regardless of the entrance on your ticket.
Ill be attending as well and i got North Entrance so i guess ill be taking the M35. I'm just wandering, does that bus stop at Randalls Island Park or is there a specific stop to get off at?
Definitely doable. Easiest way (in theory) is by Uber/Lyft...depending on traffic it should take 45mins-1hr (if your game day is Friday I would add maybe 15-30 mins for rush hour traffic). Most definitely going to be very expensive (my guess is at least $50) Alternately, public transportation is much cheaper ($1 for a MetroCard, $8.25 for JFK's airtrain, and $2.75 for subway and bus) but will take you about an hour and 30mins. Good part here is you won't really have to worry about rush hour traffic (that'll in fact probably help because subway and buses run more often then). Google Maps is your friend! Here's a quick search which checks out to me - only slight thing I'd change is that taking the M35 bus you can probably get off a stop or two earlier that it says in the directions at the end. maps.app.goo.gl/vDs4VTpH8hdREErG8
After watching your video, my girlfriend and I are leaning towards the ferry. She LOVES ferries ⛴️! Also, when I looked up the ferry, I saw that there is a free shuttle to the park. That might be a good option too.
From Times Square, you can walk about a block over to Bryant Park and take the B or D train uptown to Yankee Stadium. When in doubt, Google Maps will give you the best directions for taking public transit in NYC!
Up to you! Not necessary but a lot of people will do both if you want to grind for more XP or raids or shinies. Global GO Fest should really be considered an entirely separate event from in-person GO Fest (they are also on different weekends). The spawns, research, and raid schedule is somewhat slightly different. In-person events have special activities and photo opportunities on site while Global GO Fest is really about playing the game regardless of where you are in the world
@@MrsMime100 Thank you! I went to a Pokemon event in Mexico last year and the park was opened for everyone. But since the ticket asks you about the entrance, I was wondering if this event would be the same.
The in-person GO Fest ticket won't be in your inventory in the game (the medal does show up about a week before the event however). You can see if you purchased a ticket if you click the Pokeball menu button and tap the "Events" button at the top right. Scroll down to NYC GO Fest and it will say "Attending" if you've already bought your ticket.
Great question! So when you're in the game, hit the Pokéball button for the menu, and at the top right, there's a button for Events. Hit that one and scroll down to "Pokémon GO Fest 2023: New York City". If you click underneath where it says "Tickets Available!" it should take you to the screen to purchase tickets 🙂
Good question - I recommend considering the bus option (the M35 at 125th Street) as buses are equipped to have wheelchair riders. Another may be to look into NYC's Access a Ride program (the bottom of this link has information about eligibility for visitors): new.mta.info/accessibility/paratransit/how-to-apply-or-recertify-for-access-a-ride. Another option is to hire a car to drop you off right in the park - for these three options you might have to deal with traffic, but it may be easier than trying the bridges... Ward's Island Bridge has ramps at both ends but I'm not 100% sure if they are considered wheelchair accessible (the steepness makes me think they may be geared moreso for bikers). Pretty much all the other bridges are on the side of the highway that I believe will have stairs at some point along the long paths.
Nice! I grew up in Central Jersey! You can take the m34 bus crosstown to the Ferry on the east side. That'll be the fastest way. If you don't want to pay for the ferry, you can use Google maps to search for directions from Penn Station to Randall's Island park - it'll likely take you on some combo of the subway trains to get to 125th Street to catch the m35 bus that'll drop you off directly in the park
I'm staying in midtown but got a north entrance pass. Can I come in on the path to the south entrance and still walk to the north entrance on the island
Yup! Tbh you can probably just start playing when you get to the park as there isn't likely to be any sort of formal check in. They typically just want folks to follow the entrance on their ticket so one entrance doesn't get bottle necked.
I'm not familiar with that hotel but quick Google search shows it's in the South Bronx, about twenty blocks north of the Bronx bridge entrances to the park. If you plan on doing any sightseeing, I'd advise to look in Manhattan instead as that spot as its pretty far from the trains and will take you a very long time to get to any of the popular tourist locations. It's also a pretty far walk to the park entrances too, you honestly might need to Uber from the hotel to the park entrances. Lastly, if you're not familiar with NYC or big cities in general I'd probably not advise staying in that neighborhood. But to each their own!
NYC does not have electric scooters. We have citibikes that you can rent, but I'm not sure there's a docking station in Randall's Island. You can probably bike up to one of the entrances of the bridges I mention though and walk from there.
NYC doesn't have electric scooters however you might find a scooter shop that will rent one out to you for the day, I'm looking into that myself. As far as the CitiBikes, there are four docking stations on the island. Google maps is your friend!

wish i Could come to NYC Go fest but its kinda a lot of Money going from UK to USA maybe in the Future
After watching your video, my girlfriend and I are leaning towards the ferry. She LOVES ferries ⛴️! Also, when I looked up the ferry, I saw that there is a free shuttle to the park. That might be a good option too.
Lol I purchased my tickets for north entrance coming into port authority so guess I’ll be taking the bus.
Best way to get from Times Square to Yankee stadium?
From Times Square, you can walk about a block over to Bryant Park and take the B or D train uptown to Yankee Stadium. When in doubt, Google Maps will give you the best directions for taking public transit in NYC!
Should you buy global pass if you go to in person event?
Up to you! Not necessary but a lot of people will do both if you want to grind for more XP or raids or shinies. Global GO Fest should really be considered an entirely separate event from in-person GO Fest (they are also on different weekends). The spawns, research, and raid schedule is somewhat slightly different. In-person events have special activities and photo opportunities on site while Global GO Fest is really about playing the game regardless of where you are in the world
Will be the park opened for the public during the event?
I don't know for sure but probably - most if not all the last few live events left the parks open to public while the events went on
@@MrsMime100 Thank you! I went to a Pokemon event in Mexico last year and the park was opened for everyone. But since the ticket asks you about the entrance, I was wondering if this event would be the same.
What is the best ticket to get when bringing a kid along?
Sundays are usually the calmest days so I'd recommend Sunday morning!
I m staying in bronx booked and bought the ticket
Stumbled on your channel and this is so helpful! Gf and I will be in NYC for Go Fest!
Anyone knows if its normal if i dont have the ticket New York even if i bought it in my pokemon go acount?
The in-person GO Fest ticket won't be in your inventory in the game (the medal does show up about a week before the event however). You can see if you purchased a ticket if you click the Pokeball menu button and tap the "Events" button at the top right. Scroll down to NYC GO Fest and it will say "Attending" if you've already bought your ticket.
Any update on the ferry?
This video had the confirmation from Niantic! ua-cam.com/video/qaoQJlvYUXg/v-deo.html
I wonder how we could get the NYC fest ticket. Only the global tickets are showing despite me living in NYC.
I’m in a wheelchair so are all of those bridges to get to Randall Island accessible?
@@MrsMime100 thank you so much for your reply. If there is a ramp I’m sure I can do it.
i live in central jersey where u reccommend we go from ny penn station
@MrsMime100 Awesome, thank you!!!
Do you think the oppera house be a good place to stay?
But to each their own!
so are there rentable electric scooters that I could rent and ride to the park from whatever airbnb or hotel I stay at
NYC does not have electric scooters.
Are you attending GO Fest New York in July?
Yes!
To new york city natives the 5 boroughs is concidered all of nyc. But for ua manhattan represents nyc becauae that NYC is included in NYC bit that is classoc NYC. So i guess outer boroughs doesnt coint since its from outside of nyc everyday life. We r siper comnected. There should be everywhere in NYCs 5 boroughs. Its ridic that i jave to travel and pay for frikkin extra traveling i gotta do. Of courde i work the days this is going on. And i hope to get lucky but idk if i can get to actual nhc ie it just the central park area? Or all of manhattan and rsndalls island or does gameplay event nyc include outside borouggs? included in the fo
Im just trying to figure out where the “South” entrance is :(
Here's the link to the official map: storage.googleapis.com/pgoblog/gofest-2023/NYC/GoFest-NYC_Map_R5.jpg
@@MrsMime100 this is great thank you!!!!
Thanks Mime! I’m figuring out the train situation myself. See y’all soon!!
Queens is not a elbow lol it’s the biggest boro in nyc ..
Yurrrrrr
too late....my stuff is booked already XD
😆
Im choosing to stay at one of the pogo sponsored hotels, a mariot I think is in queens (its located on queens plaza).
Any recomendations on steak/seafood places?
Too funny, even you as a ny person, also haven’t been there…this is such a bad idea for an event location. Why didn’t they just make it on plumb island…. Or Isn’t it governor island with the cable car….
isnt staying in harlem or walking from harlem rather not safe? Think the movie Die Hard 3? At the Seattle gofest "city expereince" there was a church or other social group banging drums ( Im 100% serious) and Harassing pokemon go players as they walk by.
Welp, majority well spoof there so, no biggie 🤣 The Way..
I don't know why I am watching this cz I will just spoof there.😂
