There is also a tool to set the lower sprocket in the right position so the crank sensor picks up the correct reading as the lower sprocket is free wheeling as it has no keyway or position pin ( good work Ford ! )
Best 1.6 timing belt change video I've seen.
For this engine, the serpentine gear has a mark (basically a hole) for the crankshaft position sensor, and an additional tool is needed to lock the gear in position along with the timing for the engine to perform properly, otherwise you will get an dashboard message "Reduced engine performance" . Moreover, you must lock the flywheel to be able to torque the crankshaft pulley properly without losing these marks.
Cách đặt cam xe ford escape 2013-2019 rất hay ,rất chi tiết cảm ơn bạn
Thank you I'm a technician, and I really thought the removing the starter to lock the flywheel was BS. Thank you for confirmation.
Im doing this job right now in my bay and was looking for a reason not to take the intake and starter out and i found one😂
@@actionjackson5143 what socket size you use for the crankshaft bolt? Thanks
@@em881918mm
Great video! Thank you!
Do I need to remove starter and brace the flywheel also?
Help guys on the crankshaft mine got 2 holes which one must i use
Missed the flywheel tool and the cam bar - not smart. Make sure you use a new bolt and a new lower sprocket and a new CV shaft bracket.
Did you at all need to locking the crankshaft to remove that bolt? Or an impact will just take it off without needing too
Do you have to lock up the flywheel from the starter to torque the crank bolt???
How about when tourquing the crank pulley down what do you use to make sure the crank doesn’t move
Down hole or upper one
What if when I turn my crank to TDC and the timing marks are at appx 13:00 instead of 12? And then the cam locking tool isn't able to be aligned
If you've turned it and the cam pullys are at 1 o clock , I recon youve turned the crank to far, turn it to 11 o clock insert your crank pin then turn the crank , your cam marking should be at 12 o clock
Help me on my crankshaft there is 2 holes the down one and upper one which one must i use to do the timming @@smilerdon
I have a 2017 Ford Fiesta 1.6 non-turbo. To start with I have the tool kit but my crank pully does not have a slot in the back for that tool. Ok, so cams and crank moved so now im trying to figure out how to get the cames and crank set. I turned each cam to TDC with a torq socket, installed the X tool. I then installed the pin and went clockwise with the crank bolt until it stopped. I can afford to bend a valve or mess something up so I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks

Im working on a 2013 Ford Escape 1.6L, I get no compression in all of my cylinders, last thing to happen was the shredding of the serpentine belt before it stopped running entirely, Since this is a free spinning or non interference system, would timing just be off? Or it skipped timing. Thoughts and ideas would be very helpful, thank you.
Does the crank turn freely, or is it seized?
Sorry I’m just now seeing this, the crank turns freely. I put a wrench or socket on it and I could move it.
It IS an interference engine.
Whats the arrow for on the cam shaft X holding tool? I noticed yours pointing up
The arrow tells you “this way up”.
hi i have ford fiesta 2015 petrol 1.25 . i want to know my timing belt interval pls advice
100,000k
How long roughly does it take to do this job start to finish?
Engine in car as a technician I can do in 2-3 hours. In the garage might take 8-10. Just depends on skill level and equipment
Is that balancer pulley bolt reverse threaded?
No
Magkanoang price nang tools para sa crankshop timing
as long as the cam timing marks are on the top, i shouldnt have to worry about pegging the crank?? as long as i do not turn it? im only trying to gain access to change out water pump ty.
As long as the cams do not move and the crank does not move you will be okay. If anything moves you’ll need to adjust. If crank moves just look through cyl 1 spark plug hole and make sure piston is TDC. Then make sure cam marks 12 oclock.
I would advise you lock crank and cams as the Cambelt needs to be removed!, we do these at work a lot on Focus and Fiesta etc...... remember Timing belt kits are a lot cheaper than a new engine.
@@Mrbirdnerd ty, other videos i also noticed the crank pulley has a 12 o clock and a 6 o clock markings.. i didnt know if that was standard or common. thanks for reply.
@@Mrbirdnerd you better have the timing equipment tools.
Use the correct tools and follow the manufacturers procedures. Shortcuts can become very expensive. If the timing is slightly off, your fuel consumption may rise.
