She was super. Miss this class of artists of the 50“s to 70‘s.

Tony Tanner and Millicent Martin were excellent in this. I actually prefer the styling of their singing over the Broadway album with Anthony Newley. Something about watching this entire film was so poignant, it really left an impression on me. Great chemistry in this one :)

I totally agree. I remember watching the movie when it first came out, and loving it.

As stale as this material seems today this show may have been the first to successfully deconstruct the MUSICAL. Leading more exiting ways of presenting this art form.

It all sounds more exciting and less stale to me on the original cast recording (not sure if that was London or Broadway cast), with Anna Quayle and Anthony Newley. Even with all the very topical, now anachronistic references, I love it. That may be, in good part, because I grew up with it, and we kids loved the humor and (to us, as 8- to 12-yr.-olds) titillatingly racy elements. I'd love to see a faithful, well done revival of the stage show, without revision (thus, perforce, a period piece), which would almost certainly mean it would not be being produced for profit. I don't think I ever even knew there was a movie made of the show. Hard to tell from just this bit, but it doesn't look too thrilling; this may be one of those pieces, like A CHORUS LINE, that simply cannot be satisfactorily translated to film.

@@AvalonMorley Movie was just a filmed version of the stage show.

It appears to be a wonderful record of the original stage production, filmed in the theatre. I don't find it stale. I think the score is a masterpiece, tuneful, poignant and all of a piece. While Newley's Everyman shtick and 'life's a circus' designs might be dated now I think it was interesting enough 60 years ago.
Maybe Mr Freud can tell me why
I'll love you till I die
      The way I do...
      But who needs Freud's advice,
I'm sure it works on mice
Not someone really nice like you❤
