I’m not worried by the result. You look at that defence alone, half the players that started in our back 4 today (Lindelof and Wan Bissaka) will likely be sold very soon. We still have 7 defenders yet to come in (Shaw, Martinez, Maguire, Dalot, Yoro + probably De Ligt and Mazrauoi).

Some good stuff, but the press can be beaten too easily. If they can sort that and find a little better balance between insanely high press and the big hole behind it when it's beaten, it will be fine. The only 2 concerns I have are the injuries and scoring goals, but we have players coming back. Much improved in possession and chance creation. A plan B is essential when it stops working like around half an hour in when Liverpool drew the press on going even deeper and played through. We didn't seem to be able to do much different or adapt once that happened.

Last years pre-season we beat both Arsenal and Liverpool and look how that season went. Hoping not to read too much into this pre-season and that the lads are up and ready for the season ahead. Definitely need to bolster up in a few areas.
Results are irrelevant but when you see the same players from last season making the same mistakes in the same areas of the pitch, such as defence and central midfield. The defenders, Casemiro and the same old forwards missing mistakes. How many times last season did we dominate the first 20 min and then drop off a cliff and concede goals because the defence couldn’t press and Casemiro got walked by? Let’s not kid ourselves - this squad is technically weaker than last seasons squad. Also, we’ve not shifted anyone yet bar out of contract players. So whilst some patterns in the forward areas have impressed me on tour, the midfield and defensive issues persist.

That's not entirely true, we sold Greenwood, van de Beek and Kambwala. Which probably wouldn't have happened under the old regime. But there is certainly more work to be done.

I'd say the squad has improved, but not the level. Ineos are building towards the future, so a lot of the improvements are to do with squad building, player profiles and age profiles. If all goes well they can properly start to improve the levels next year.

He's just hitting his peak years, unlike the other two. He's a very useful player to have on the bench. I think he's been used incorrectly since he started in the first team and people seem to forget we finished 2nd and 3rd when he was playing alongside Fred. He's nowhere near as bad as people make out.

I thought offensively we broke down when rashford or sancho got the ball today. They were taking too much time and missing pass windows and getting shut down or losing the ball especially in liverpools final third when they compacted we struggled as a team alot. All our chances were from players who were playing quick 1-2 touches and then making runs off the ball movement. Mount and collyer specifically were very good about doing that as well.
Another seeing what they want. Collyer was poor in possession ball bounced off him a couple of times in dangerous situations, amass over complicated situations AWB absolutely abysmal in attack and defence. Cassimiro lack of concentration giving the ball away countless times and by far the worse player on the pitch
I know you love it there but we need to stop these bs yank pre season tours all over just a few mil £. So many decent better options in South Portugal, Austria, Switzerland that are far better for pre season prep both weather wise, pitch conditions, time zones, facilities & can still play big friendly games with various levels of European teams. I thought we looked good despite the result! Yes we couldn't score but we will get Hojlund back and we are yet to see Joshua Zirkzee, Maybe there is room for another attacker but then the question is who?

Bruno and Mainoo of the midfield 3 missing, and if we sign the Uraguayan, the whole midfield! Also no Garnacho, no Zirkzee…. So everyone chill. Collyer also had issues and did lose Salah for the second goal although Wan B messed up too not noticing the man behind him one of th issues I've always had with his defending and we do need new defenders ASAP if possible another quick defender in addition to De Ligt. To the content: I think we are clutching at straws regarding Rashford (and I have wanted him to come good again as he could be United's ever top scorer, which I would love), but I think Collyer could have gotten a mention. Really, really good pre season. Either a loan in Championship or he'll stay in the squad, hopefully. Doesn't mean that a new player isn't needed, but it is nice to see some quality midfielders coming through.
Tbh I do expect us to have a very slow start to the season I think we’ll win 2 or 3 of the opening games in the league it possible could have draw or loss along the way

I think he's been used incorrectly since he started in the first team and people seem to forget we finished 2nd and 3rd when he was playing alongside Fred. I thought offensively we broke down when rashford or sancho got the ball today. They were taking too much time and missing pass windows and getting shut down or losing the ball especially in liverpools final third when they compacted we struggled as a team alot. All our chances were from players who were playing quick 1-2 touches and then making runs off the ball movement. Mount and collyer specifically were very good about doing that as well.
Another seeing what they want. Collyer was poor in possession ball bounced off him a couple of times in dangerous situations, amass over complicated situations AWB absolutely abysmal in attack and defence. Cassimiro lack of concentration giving the ball away countless times and by far the worse player on the pitch

The defensive set-up, pressing structure and attacking set-up have been very clear in every match of the US tour.
A mid table manager beat Real Madrid without superstars in the uefa while coaching Ajax while we with our stars and top tier manager couldn't qualify.

There's no way this team can challenge for top 4, and now we got one of the most stupidest manager who cant even put a proper sentence together hence why he failed the interview at Spurs. To the content: I think we are clutching at straws regarding Rashford (and I have wanted him to come good again as he could be United's ever top scorer, which I would love), but I think Collyer could have gotten a mention. Really, really good pre season. Either a loan in Championship or he'll stay in the squad, hopefully. Doesn't mean that a new player isn't needed, but it is nice to see some quality midfielders coming through.
Tbh I do expect us to have a very slow start to the season I think we’ll win 2 or 3 of the opening games in the league it possible could have draw or loss along the way
The squad is being rebuilt... it will take a season or two - but when the average age of the squad decreases, I feel United are on the right path. We need a 23 year old for every position but GK... I feel we need to drop all players above 27 (Fernandes being an exception). I feel Ugarte is like Fred, ever since Fred left, we never had a crazy pressing machine in the centre.

He’s not “trusting” them. For the preseason, he didn’t have Lisandro, Dalot, Bruno, Garnacho, Shaw, Mainoo, Zirkzee, and then Yoro got injured. And there are still a couple of transfers to come in. Take a breath.
