    Even if this video is 3 years old, it's still useful!
    My teacher just suddenly messaged in our group chat at 5am to do a chiaroscuro sphere (when the class was starting at 5:30am).

    Firstly, Thank you for taking the time to put this lesson together! I'm cross-training here. So, in shading, the reflected light would seem similar to rim lighting in 3D/CG and photography, except reflected appears on the bottom of only a sphere, and only if the sphere is shiny? Is the smooth transition you refer to just another way of saying a gradient?

      I’m so glad you found it helpful. The reflected light is just like in 3-D/CG. It’s not only there when the object is shiny, but it may be more noticeable and have more contrast if the object is shiny. The smooth transition is a gradient. They are the same thing. Good questions. Happy drawing
