Hi Niels. This is a great drill. I'll definitely give it a try. I'd would have loved it if you would have shown a camara angle from your perspective, as well. I think you have done so in the past. I realize different shafts will need different adjustments for deflection, but I really get a lot of information from watching the shooters perspective and I'd love to see those types of videos again if possible.
Really enjoying all these drills Niels! They are very well presented and challenging but absolutely produce results. Keep it up! I set a new personal best on the Yo-yo drill for myself the other day by the way. Made it to 7 :)
Practiced yo-yo drill today for a few hours in total... I had no idea I totally lack this type of shot! I am quite a good player, I sometimes manage to come close or win sets with Czech national team pros but that one I completely missed in my training and game... now I understand why I missed them so much. I always gravitated towards follow shot instead of draws with english... Thanks man! If you ever come to Prague I owe you a drink of your choice and within my budget! 💪😃
Hi Michael, there’s no drill that I know off for dominant eye. Best tip is go for a good check up at eye doc. Get the correct strength lenses or glasses and just play 💪🏼😄👍🏼
Hi Niels. Great videos.. question: how do you apply side spin? Move the front hand? The back hand or do you move the shaft paralleled the the aiming shot?
Bert has really strong drills, that I've practice a lot. However I've visited him 3x3 days from my 20th-27th and never after that so sometimes it's a little overrated what is circulating. 😀
One thing I wonder about these drills. Where are you aiming? I am doing a ton of cue ball clock drills from various positions on the table based on Tor Lowry instructions. I’ve learned that the cue ball reacts differently if you hit rail first, ball ever so slightly first, or ball and rail at the same time. I assume you are trying to hit ball and rail roughly the same time. But that wasn’t the case in your vid on "Run out from an Impossible Position.’ In that shot you hit rail first.
As always a very useful and helpful video. Thanks for the amount of knowledge and everything you offer to us so we can became a better players. Godbless and sorry for my English..
Took me way to long to figure out why you were switching sides on the cue ball. But once I figured it out the inside vs outside spin actually started making sense. I've always just went "left and right"
Thank you Niels, great drill! I've tried this few times before however, I seem to always face this situation on long shots where i have to load it with spin and power to come back to the same side I'm shooting from or with really thin cut where u need to hit it perfect with lots of spin. I was only able to get those shots down by working on them individually with different speeds, so the question is "is there a drill for that?"
I would say a parallel shift for adding sidespin, but you also have to account for the deflection of your cue. Every cue is different so you just have to get used to your own cue. Adjusting your backhand to apply english can work in some situations as a rule-of-thumb, but I wouldn't recommend it for long shots. Also, the harder you hit the ball, the more it will deflect in the opposite direction of your added spin. So in general you want to find a consistent medium speed to hit these shots, so that the deflection stays consistent.
Great exercise!! But I have a question: is it possible to apply calculation systems like the basic diamond system, or the plus system for short 3 rails shots from 3 cushion billiards? And if so, how much would be difficult? By the way thank you a lot for all the lessons 😁
I wouldn’t use any systems for this. It’s gonna freeze you up too much. Just use your feel and learn from the drill. It’s mostly center table position up until the 4/5/6 👍🏼👍🏼
I recently bought a new cue. Went from a cheaper McDermott removed weight and a soft tip to a P3 with a 314 shaft with an extra soft tip. I've removed all the weights. I'm shooting good with it but my only problem is draw. I really have to hit really hard to pull back a half of table. If the cue ball is far away 3/4 of a 7ft. table it ends up a stop shot. I've never had this problem before with my old stick which was stolen. That's why I upgraded. Please help with any suggestions.
I recommend a good cue like the longoni cues and from there it’s a lot of practice to master your equipment so you don’t have to think about it anymore 👍🏼👍🏼😄 nielsfeijen.shop

Hi Terminator! Loving this videos, every time you teach me something new! I really want to get better T.T
Niels, I am a bit confused. I have always heard spin to the rail side referred to as inside English and spin to the other side referred to as running English(spin)
It's a matter of what you're aiming at. When aiming at rails for a kick shot, you are correct. "Inside english" would be applying spin towards the rail, and "outside/running english" would be applying spin away from the rail. When aiming at balls, "inside english" means applying spin towards the object ball. "Outside english" means applying spin away from the object ball. 👍
Excellent drill and helpful to develop my muscle memory. Btw, did you use Bluetooth microphone? Invest on a good lapel mic will bring up your video quality a lot.
Ball first... after contact, the cue ball would then hit the rail with all that inside spin to go 3 rails back to the center of the table. Niels has done a previous video of what happens if you do this shot hitting the rail first as a creative way to get position back down the table. @@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen I second this one. I've tried numerous times to get my elbow to straighten up or get slightly inside. I see most pros have their elbow slightly inside. But I just cant get there. When I try to do this, I start thinking about that only and it throws off all my fundamentals and then I lose my concentration on where I'm trying to get the cue ball to rest. I've used a camera to confirm I'm slightly outward. Not bad at all. But I would like to be lining it up straight or slightly inside. Any help is greatly appreciated. I've tried just lining up on the cue ball over and over with it straight or slightly inside. Then I notice my wrist is slightly bent. And for some reason it really bothers me. And I end up going back to my natural position for my elbow. In your opinion am I just over analyzing it ? And maybe just accept where my elbow wants to be naturally or attempt to get it straight or slightly inside?
