One of the rarest and most beautiful guns of WW2
Only 7000 of them many destroyed
Yes but this one is a copy . Not an original one .
but it was also extremely impractical
@@gbbgbla no
@@gbbgbla no its not. Its a battle rifle. Has a bipod, semi auto and full auto select fire. Jack of all trades... except mag capacity. Still accurate at long range too. Not to mention, it can be scoped as well
God, the German's sure do know how to make an excellent gun, not just in function, but in look. German made weapons have always been my favorite.
@@hdexotic1914 the fuck is wrong with u ? lol
Some of them yeah but in my opinion Russian made weapons are better not just cuz of the ak well party, the mosin nagant was a great rifle, and the tokarev was a classic
I mean this gun was so close to being the most perfect gun of all time if it was not for being side fed
@@hdexotic1914 :)))))))))) lmfao, savage!
@@MagnusNordahl i never understand that
It's a very well-designed purpose driven weapon. It was made to be a paratrooper weapon. Light, with good power, and a high fire rate in full auto without the high weight or awkwardness of a standard light machine gun. It's straight down the body to keep recoil going directly back into the shoulder rather than upward. It was designed to be used with its bipod. The paratrooper hits the ground, immediately gets into a prone firing position to provide the rest of the squad with automatic covering fire.
The side loading feed system allows the gunner or assistant gunner to reload the weapon without breaking cheek contact or or moving the weapon. It also allows the weapon greater vertical movement. It reduces damage to the magazine itself or dirt getting into it. It also provides a more streamlined feed and ejection pattern.
The FG-42 is a fantastic weapon.
Good
But guns nowadays rarely have side mag. I wonder why?
@@Hetzerg Space.
@@Dr.KarlowTheOctoling makes sense
@@Hetzerg Also just realized the position of the magazine also allows the gun to be built in straight forward manner, like the bolt being attached to the bolt charger.

I really want to hold a FG42 even if it's just a replica. Such a cool design.
The story behind this gun is amazing, it truly is a masterpiece all things considered. A genuine FG42 in good condition will run you about 200-300K USD

The sound of that bolt being racked is spine-tingling. I want one.
This was one of my favorite guns in COD: world at war. The sound was so unique. Such a badass rifle, mg thing.
I loved the one in RTC Wolfenstein.
It sucked that it has only 20 bullets mag in multiplayer, while in the campaign it had 30.
Dear Jesus, thats one beautiful looking gun.
what are you smoking, it's hideous.
But Aesthetic tastes are completely down to opinion not fact.
B.A.R says hi
The BAR is ugly imo, worked good though.
Amen reverend
Cuantas veces te encontrare por internet??? SAPBEEEE
The beauty of this gun is just wonderful. Timeless.
That thunderous sound too. Magnificent.
This thing just screams precision, quality engineering.
It was a mostly simple rifle too. It was less complicated (internally) than the BAR, another open bolt LMG/LMR.
Wow,was für ein Hoch - Qualitätsprodukt und eine Schönheit, daß hätten die Jungs schon 1940 bei der erstürmung der Festung Eben-Emael haben sollen, ❤ herzlichen Dank dafür.

That is one of my favorite WWII weapons on sheer looks, its a unique looking weapon. PLus from my time playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein, it was like the best weapon in that game...punchy, and sounds cool, the little scope makes it look boss to.

these things were boss in the 40's. Germany had the world by its balls when it came to engineering..... oh wait...they still do.
+goodfella21f hahahaha.
+goodfella21f *says overpriced but went to the Moon with said Technology from German Scientist and Helmet designs from Germans for our Inf and various other things*

+goodfella21f Yea... Cars are soooooo overpriced. And I mean all cars, because well, the thing was invented in Germany... Have fun with you Bike.
Luca fz even earlier on they were plagued with problems.
One of the clones? Looks too clean to be an original
I'd say clone
I am unfamiliar with this beauty! Wow looks great!
There is only 22 in the USA if i'm right. And the only one i see for sale was on good shape overall and it was on total working condition and did fought in the war. The only problem was the gun price... You really don't want to know how much it cost...
$150,000-$250,000 if its original
If person fires it its a clone. Noone in bright mind would fire from original one.
three 3 round mags?
All you need is one good hit ;) So, three is more than enough from this bad boy (fg42) against a criminal or a terrorist.
Lol. K.
That's a 20 round magazine, he was just shooting in burst to show it operate. Do you really think that big magazine only held 3 rounds? Lol.
coolio diablo It's called sarcasm you know
luizfe torres yes I don't think it's sarcasm
Man I would totally add this to my Paratrooper impression and just say we found it on the ground. Beautiful rifle and an even more magnificent piece of engineering.
The absolutely over the top and unnecessary short clips are absolutely necessary and absolutely epic. Damn listen to that beast click and pop!
What a beautiful gun. Thanks for making this video and posting.

They buffed it again
ExO God well im fucked....
Gold3n Kid it was only a 3 percent fire rate buff
ExO God oh ok that's not that bad but still its a powerful weapon from long range
I am truely suprised this weapon was not used more during WW2 nor do we see modern weapons taking ideas from it's design.
We saw a *ton* of weapons come from this design, including the AR-10/15 and the M-60.
Mostly people were afraid to use German weapons outright after the war. They wanted to be able to pretend they weren't.
The same applied to equipment they were known for, but for instance the first generation of jet fighters on both sides of the cold war were basically exact copies of next gen German jets.
@@gratefulguy4130the ar wasn't based on it lmao.
@@gratefulguy4130that's not possible for Britain or America cause both already had jets by the end of the war.
For some reason I love the side loading mechanism , seems so natural.

@@UnknownGamer40464 bottom loading seems to be the most natural
@@wagner_108 You're working against gravity that way. A top fed could basically just be a linear gravity fed hopper like a paintball gun.
Awesome gun. Long barrel.
This is the most advanced high technology and the most versatile hand weapon of WWII. I read about how many requirements were made by Luftwaffe that this weapon had to fulfill. It had to be an assault rifle using the standard Kar. 98 ammo it had to be no longer or heavier than Kar. 98 but still able to shoot full-auto, and an option to shoot semi-auto. It needed to have a detachable scope so it could be used as a sniper rifle and detachable bipod so it could be used as an LMG when fired from lying position and detachable bayonet for close combat. It needed to have a standard cartridge of at least 20 rounds. Recoil had to be less than the one of Kar. 98 so it could be fired full auto from the hip which would make staying on target easy in close combat and clearing the trenches. It needed to be super-resistant to hits because of the nature of it's use (paratrooper rifles are more exposed to bumps and hits since they are dropped from planes behind enemy lines). It needed to have a shape that could be used as a club in case of running out of ammo in close encounter situation. It needed to shoot faster than MP 40 and StG 44 so at 750 rounds per minute this rifle had the highest firepower in WWII. Now imagine how good was german craftsmanship to make all these requirements not exceeding the size and weight of an old mouzer bolt-action Kar. 98. Damn they were good. This weapon was all-in-one for a german paratrooper, they got all the firepower, precision and reliability they needed to go behind enemy lines...
Not an assault rifle, uses 7.92x57mm or 8mm. That a full powered round, not intermediate. This would be classified as an LMG.
Are these still in service somewhere, looks timeless like the 303 and stg44
German engineering and the German military in WWII is fascinating.
This is quickly becoming my favourite WW2 rifle.
I have been in love with this gun ever since I played COD World At War. It's such a beautiful gun. One of my favorites of all time.

If the magazine was downward facing in front of the firing controls this thing would be absolutely flawless looking..(Not a fan of side mounted magazines.) Nevertheless, one of the absolute coolest looking small arms of WW2...Hands down.

Would you mind telling me what microphone did you use for this video? The gunshots sound awesome in this video.
You have to give it to Germany during WWII, they produced some fine weapons. They were ahead of their time.

That does not look pleasant at all to shoot. It fires the 7mm Mauser, doesn't it? Must recoil hard.
I think it fires 7.62 mm, which is bigger than 7 mm Mauser
By .62 mm. So is it a 7.62x51 NATO conversion or something?
bigred2989
wait what? it is in the only version Mauser ammo. same as k98
Well he made it sound like it was 7.62x51 since you said it wasn't 7mm Mauser. He corrected me in error it seems.
bigred2989 7.92x57mm Mauser, not 7mm Mauser...
And no, it actually has a couple recoil buffers, the stock is spring loaded, and the muzzlebreak reduces recoil aswell.
And the straight stock design makes it managable.
My guess is that this is a reproduction rifle.
Its not a guess its certainty if they are willing to fire from it.
Yeah a Smith Machine Group repro, awesome guns but no full auto
Dont forget to reload it!!!
Jajajaa
все говорят про Call of Duty, но эта пушка - легенда Return to castle Wolfenstein!!!
This light machine gun is bad ass and was issued to German paratrooper's during ww2.
The sound so satisfying 🔥
The ROF was something to be terrified of.
Royal Ordnance Factory?
Fg42, like the mg42, known for the sound of its automatic fire (shoots semi auto) .....ok
known for being uncontrollable on full auto
The rof of this firearm was nowhere near that of the mg42. And if I'm not mistaken, not many of the originals were built with full auto capability. It was insanely uncontrollable in full auto.
@@DeoVindice_61-65 When you're firing in full auto, you're not looking for control. It's for suppression, not accuracy.
@N D So explain the doctrine for the B.A.R., which has the same magazine capacity?
I'll bet if I fire 20 rounds of 8mm your way, you'll keep your head down. Here's another hint - you don't hold down the trigger the whole time.

Joshua Godsey I can do it because I'm half German...but only just!
Hey, you cheated!
It's not hard if you spell it like this "Falschirm-jager-gewehr" and not trying to say everything at once, which is translated as "paratrooper weapon", though I am not sure if "falschirm" is parachute or if "falschirmjager" is paratrooper. German is not hard, you just have to pay a little attention on words on how they are formed (list some words are composed of another 4-5 "mini-words", just like in this case of this weapon)
0:34 That clicking Sound when the magazin snaps in is so Wolfenstein!
This rifle is capable of full auto, however it is generally used in semi. Due to the awkward magazine placement, it's weight would roll the weight of the rifle to the left causing the recoil of a fullsized cartrige even more difficult to manage in full-auto. Also, the paratroopers who were issued this rifle could not carry the amount of ammunition which could afford full auto use

This is one of my favourite WWII guns.
Did you only have 2 round mags? Or are you just a Jew with your ammo?
It was in fact a selective fire single or automatic rifle with a 10 or 20 round detachable box magazine , the only rifle of wwii that could switch from single to auto
Actually not the only one, and certainly not the first one
Stg44
This makes a volunteer armed force much more appealing than a offical army branch.
That has to be one of the most interesting charging handle locations I’ve ever seen
I wouldn't recommend this gun due to its complex reload but I'll give a quick tutorial on how to.
-pull the bolt back
-make a couple camera zooms
-pull the bolt back again
-zoom in then put the magazine in
-pull the bolt back once more.
