After the Senate voted to confirm Langley's promotion last week, the 37-year Marine Corps veteran who will oversee all U.S. military forces in Africa was formally promoted during a ceremony Saturday in Washington.
Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Langley was commissioned in 1985 and held command at every level in his Marine Corps career. On Saturday, he achieved the highest command any Black Marine has held.

To any one who thinks this is affirmative action. You’re probably thinking about the Army. This is is the United States Marine Corps. None but the strong deserve the fair. They don’t give out a consolation prize. Semper Fi

Must be sad to have a promotion speech mention diversity and race... I would doubt my achievement for the rest of my life. I guess he just does not care how he got that +1 😂

Good job keep everything about race. Why not say the he the 5 thousand person to be promoted to 4 star general. Isn't 4 star general enough. Thanks for race baiting again.

when you are the first, you make history and the news report it. This story is proof that we have come a long way from the past. So I don't know why you are upset about recording of history and seeing proof that race relations are getting better. Racism in the US is not something that happened that long ago. The last official lynching by the KKK happened in 1983.
the reason that race issues are in the news today so often is because of the internet and everybody has a cellphone with a camera and there is 24 hours news networks. people with cellphones catch people being racist then they posted in the internet and sometimes those post get the attention of the mainstream media. That is not race baiting, that is reporting what happened. If people did not do racist things, then it wouldn't be recorded and posted in the internet.
You clicked this video and commented so now the algorithm will send you more stories like it.
