Pythonicus did a great job. I actually enjoy seeing a run with a few hiccups. Speed running is rough, and exponentially more in a marathon setting. Seeing all the workarounds and backups are a fun experience for me! You kept your cool and did a damn fine job.
Love me some metal gear. Despite the course the series took and its sad end, I'm glad that people like Pythonicus and others can continue to make it continue into 2021.
Awesome seeing one of the lesser known Metal Gear games getting run here. I used to love this game when I had a PSP for its introduction of base building to the series, letting you play as other characters, multiplayer, and just overall being Metal Gear Solid on a handheld device.
Honestly surprised to hear Pythonicus say that he's playing "claw-style" on the PS TV, despite Sony adding the ability to map the d-pad to the right analog stick a good number of years ago. I imagine doing that would help a whole lot with playing with a controller, because it's essentially a godsend for me whenever I play a PSP game on my PS TV. Maybe he modded his & can't update to when that feature was added in, I guess?
Honestly, it's all down to me just having been comfortable with the claw from when I played as a kid on the actual PSP! That, and I feel like the stick makes the camera swing a bit more wildly than I'd like; it feels almost too sensitive despite it probably pulling at the same rate as the d-pad camera. My PSTV has surprisingly escaped unscathed from modding on either the hardware or software side, haha.
@@Pythonicus Okay, that's actually interesting since that thought was also literally my first one when you started talking about your claw grip playing style.
I've had my vita since the summer year of its launch and I'm pretty sure the camera feature was baked into the Thing because I used it all the time for dissidia and the vita tv came well after the fact so I doubt there's any version without the function. Idk about the vita tv but I've experienced 0 input drops for PO on my vita and honestly the game was designed with minimal camera manipulation in mind. 1 awful feature you want to be mindful of is the player camera orientation. If its on, the camera actively fights your camera changing because its always trying to auto spin behind snake. Tho the way I play is with R:attack/shoot, L:lock on, Square:first person. Its awkward if you want to move shoot and aim. But all fights weren't designed with you needing that much movement complexity. Game feels smooth in the hand this way
As someone else who has a PSTV I believe there are options to set it up so that way you can use the second analog stick as the D-pad playing a PSP game on it Requires holding down I think it's the home button or something like that while the game is active to bring up the settings menu for the game itself but I do know there's a way to do it Don't know if anyone will read this but I figured I would point out there is a way to do that if I recall.
Its known, but the claw grip is also a bit of a comfort thing for Python, he mentioned in another comment that he's used to the claw from playing this(and probably other stuff like MHFU I'd guess) as a kid, and he finds the joystick is a bit harder to get stable aim with for this game
Is custom button mapping not allowed? On the Vita you can set the right analog stick to be whatever you want when playing PSP games, so they could play with usual camera controls
Yeah, I never ended up persevering that much into this game, but the bits I did play I used pretty extensive custom button mapping to get a setup I found slightly usable.

@@Pythonicus you can adjust camera sensitivity

Excellent run to watch, good work!
loved portable ops when it first came out, good game
You pronounced Mosin Nagant correctly! Great run!!
I loved this game as a kid. The 2nd Null fight was rough for me too
17:30 Ahh a donation from Snake from the future's friend *Oh-Tah-Con*
I didnt realize snakes dash attack was overpowered way before smash ultimate.
I've got my snacks. I've got my drinks. It's time to carry some soldiers.

oh look, its the underrated one!
also 1st
Hm, I wouldn't say it's quite as underrated as Ac!d 2 or Ghost Babel.
