- Today, we are talking all the different ways to make friends in Korea, whether you are solo traveling or moving there. Of course, I have only visited Korea, so I will be speaking from my experience here. How to make friends in general is a tough topic to tackle, but I'll try to break it down. We will be talking meetups, online platforms, apps, and all ways in which I have met new people in my solo travel trips, both fellow foreigners and local Koreans.

Some notes: I forgot to mention in the video, but I also met people through friends of friends. With anything related to online platforms, remember to be safe! Also, remember that all of this is from a foreign traveler's POV, it may get better or easier if you're living there - or you may have a completely different perspective of the matter 🤷🏻♀

Im very much the same way! Maybe meetups would be a good way for you to meet people - there’s no obligation to really go out of your way and if anything there’s an activity to focus on :)

Loved the last point, its not just about eating different food and seeing different places, a complete experience definitely includes meeting the people.

I am 19 years old from England and I haven’t been abroad since I was 6-7 and my first solo trip I am going to Korea at the end of this month 😭😭 I have a bit of social anxiety so I am so scared but I know that I need to do it because it is one of my dreams ! Just I hope I can make atleast one friend while I’m there but it’s hard because I don’t approach people

I feel like this topic it would be insanely useful to define what you consider as a friend. Because "A friend for the day" is never ever a friend in my book. That's why it'd be nice.
that's true and i can see your point there, but i think it's also how one approaches and nourishes any friendships. these "friends for the day" could very well be friends for life if you nourish it properly. personally, i recognize that i'm not the best at nourishing these budding friendships, but i am also ok with having "friends for the day" on my travels.

Yes, you’ll have to figure out transportation by yourself, but a lot of hosts are really nice and will share convenient ways to get to them via public transportation etc

Kakao talk asks for some security number. Which is not there for people living outside. Then how to sign up? Inl want to keep in touch with a friend i made there.
