- Hi everyone! I hope you're having a fantastic day. In this video I talk about the creative flow, why I paint form my imagination and share the whole process of how that works for me. Also I show the behind the scenes of creating this new oil painting called Guided Visions Into Unseen Worlds.
I like to hear from you what the creative flow looks like for you, how do you experience that?
I wish you all the best and...

Thank you so much for the video and your explanation of your process. I do whimsical art in watercolor and mixed media, but I am trying to translate this into oil. But most of the videos out there are panting subjects or from photos, and I know I don’t want to do that… thank you for confirming it is possible. 💕💕💕
Hi there, thank you so much for being here and watching, I greatly appreciate! 🙏🏻 💕 So awesome that you do art in watercolour and mixed media. Have you already started with oils? I totally understand, I think painting from reference is helpful in developing skill but when it comes to your unique expression it's so important to just paint for your imagination. Letting your creative flow through you. It is possible indeed! 🙌🏻
@@CeciliaDietrichArt I have not started yet with oils. Soon!!
@@Ameylynn Awesome, let me know how it goes once you started. It's so much fun painting with oils!😀
Wonderful video, and THANK YOU for getting right to the point, using a modulated voice, and not putting on a terrible techno-rap background track. 👍🏽
Thank you so much, I appreciate! 🙏 the last part about the music made me laugh 😄
I really like your style! I'm a beginner painter, 6 months now. I'm learning to paint an owl now. Thanks for great tips and inspiration!!!
Thank you so much, I appreciate! That's awesome that you started painting. What kind of medium do you use? Thank you for being here and watching, I'm happy to hear that it has been valuable to you🌸🦋
@@CeciliaDietrichArt I am using oil paint. I started learning wet on wet technique. I love creating from my imagination. But also I need to practice more and learn from more experienced people, thank you!
So nice! Oil paints are really fun to paint with. What do you like to paint when you create from your imagination? Like realism, fantasy worlds or abstract art?
I wish you a Happy New Year! 😀
@@CeciliaDietrichArt Happy New Year to you also!!!🙂
So far, I am doing landscapes. Its fun to create your own scene. Things just appear sometimes if youre stuck. I just finished one today. I wish I could show you. I want to try something similar to what you did with owl in the clouds. I love that!!!
Thank you! 😊🌺 Amazing!! Yes, I agree it's really fun to paint one's own scenery. I would love to see it. If you have social media like IG you can tag me there @ceciliad_art. If you don't have any social media accounts you can send me a photo to ceciliadietrich_art@hotmail.com
I'm happy to hear that. What idea do you have in mind? I studied owls to get the right shape and proportions and then I used the same colour for the clouds and the owl so that the owl is well integrated within the sky. In this way it looks like the owl arises from the clouds. 🙂
Thank you. Very interesting and nicely put together, concept, finished painting and editing too. Thumbs up
Thank you so much, I truly appreciate! I want to share more about those topics, since it is a huge part of being creative.
So what about you. What does creative flow mean for you? Do you resonate with what I said or do you experience that differently? I'm curious to hear. :)
@@CeciliaDietrichArt I am not experienced or talented like you. I am at the learning process, used acrylics for about a year and just started oils as acrylics just dry far too quickly. I watch UA-cam videos of several people trying to gain knowledge of various aspects, I have a few favourites which you are now one of. You have patience and a clear guide which I find easy to follow. I hope I will get better as I really do enjoy the painting, just wish I started when I was young like you
@@shaunsart Yes, acrylics really dry too quickly, one of the reasons why I like oils more. What kind of oil paintings do you use?
Thank you so much, I appreciate! You definitely will, I think that enjoying the activity makes learning much easier and it's never too late, right. Is there something specific you'd like to learn? A tutorial you'd like to see? :)
@@CeciliaDietrichArt I don’t know what you mean by what oil paintings do I use? Types of paintings I like most are landscapes and animals mostly. Like everyone else I would like to be brilliant at clouds and skies. I spend lots of time looking at skies and clouds, they fascinate me now I paint, never did before. Blending skies and clouds are the number 1 thing I would like to accomplish one day. Thank you for interacting
@@shaunsart Oh I mean, what kind of oil paints do you use?
Landscapes and animals are beautiful! That's wonderful, I like to look at them as well it's so peaceful and interesting to watch. Yeah this is definitely a great topic, I keep that in mind :)
That was a great explanation!!! I have a lot of imagery that goes on in my head that I would love to paint. Idk where to start, though, and it's harder to stay flowing with anxiety/bipolar/ depression and ptsd. Any ideas on how to combat that.wbile practicing.your favorite passion. Any advice would be gret!!! Have a good day
Hi there, thank you so much for being here and watching! 🙏🏻 That's awesome that you have so much imagery in your head. I'm very sorry to hear that you struggle with mental health issues. Honestly, I've a history myself of dealing with anxiety, depression as well as ptsd and I know so well how much it can block you from expressing yourself. Especially, painting allows us to create a space for introspection so we can directly face our inner world.
So I can tell you briefly from my experience what I did to overcome those mental health problems that I had for years and years but not anymore.
First, I decided to change my life which means to change myself, I faced my shadows, basically a lot of unprocessed feelings and situations from the past that were traumatic to me, subconscious patterns and habits that weren't good for me, I learned to get in touch with my emotions and create a good relationship with them which naturally results in being able to regulate my own emotions well. I learned to have a peaceful mind which is such a blessing when you experienced spirals of overwhelm and overthinking, I reset and rewired my nervous system through the Quantum Flow method, which is so powerful, I did a practice daily to release the old and embody the new person I wanted to be that was a person that loves life deeply, I was in nature a lot and did ceremonies and learnt from mother nature, I learnt to feel safe, I developed new daily healthy habits, I let go of old relationships that weren't good for me and so on. It was a hard journey, but the most valuable one. I think there is so much to say which is hard to pack everything into a comment. But I just want you to know that there is a different way to live, change is possible.
I'm still learning to express myself fully in my art, it isn't always easy for me but I continue this path and in this way I grow more and more into this. Also I decided a few days ago to just solely paint from my imagination and go deeper into that connection with my creative flow. I think this brings great healing as we can loose ourselves by having been that conditioned when moving through life.
So putting everything into one sentence I'd say that painting from your imagination means getting back into your own natural flow which also requires letting go of everything that blocks this natural creative flow.
Thank you so much for reading, I hope this helps you. Let me know. I'm wishing you a great day! 🌸
You have amazing skills, and you are so unique and creative ❤
I like to draw, especially sceneries, but never used oil or water paintings
Thank you, I appreciate! That's awesome! Do you draw with coloured pencils or only black and white? I highly recommend it, it's so much fun to paint with oils. You could use water mixable oil paints like I do, they're super simple, because you don't need any additional solvent just water.
@@CeciliaDietrichArt I draw black and white and also use color pencils. I will definitely try oil paintings one day. Thank you
Nice🌻 do you share your artworks online?
@@CeciliaDietrichArt I don't really. I'm not a good enough artist with talent. I just enjoy art, and you draw the most beautiful art.
Yes, that's the most important part, to enjoy it. But progress comes with practice right, so keep going 😊 Thank you!
