@@jenlewren sure! First I applied two layers of gesso onto the wood, so that the paint could be absorbed properly. Then I used acrylic paint for the underpainting and afterwards oils. At the end I used gamvar picture varnish from gamblin as protection layer.😊 Do you have a project in mind you'd like to work on?

@@CeciliaDietrichArt ah thank you for replying I am working on a very small cabinet and have used chalk paint as a base and was worried I didn't do the correct thing! My plan is to paint flowers onto the front in acrylic.

@@brakeduster thank you! 🤗 yes, I did and then I used brown acrylic ink to add an olden touch to it. I highly recommend drawing with a ballpoint pen. By simply applying more or less pressure you can create a wide variety of shades and also draw really precisely and detailed.😊

@CeciliaDietrichArt I've been trying fineliners to draw a castle near where I live. (That's how I found your video) I think I'm using the wrong paper though. What's good for drawing? I had better results on plain printer A4 than the art pads. I think they're probably for paint only?

@amariart_luver Oh a dove is beautiful! Thank you so much for your words and for being here, I appreciate!🙏🏻 Awesome that you get paid for it!🥳 So is it a white, beige or grey dove? I would make sure to have a unified color composition meaning that the colors fit well together in orther to be harmonious. For example you could start with defining if it should be a cooler or warmer tone, crisp or mudier colors, pastel or vibrant etc. What should the overall ambience of your painting be? Each color evokes different emotions. Then in general the shadow area is cooler so there's more blue. On the other hand the light area is warmer so I would use more yellows, light oranges maybe and whites. Does that help?
