I love how genuine you come across; and you're gentle style of parenting seems so warm and sweet. I love seeing moms who are patient with their children and who love and nurture them to sleep. It's just so refreshing to me, because we are also a co-sleeping family and not everyone agrees with it. Some people are firmly set against it and have to let you know it, but when I see sweet moms like you I remember that I'm not the only mom who takes this approach to parenting. Thank you for sharing this. It really brightened my day!
Thank you - and you're so right, a lot of people can have a lot of opinions the best way to raise children. In the end, you just have to do what feels right.
I am SO happy I stumbled upon this. I currently have a 13 month old that we cosleep with and nurses all night still. Your scenario is what I was hoping for eventually, I I’m glad to have heard it’s doable!
Thank goodness it’s not just me doing this. First one still sleeping wit us at 6 years old. I had to move with the baby to another room to save him from kicks lol.
We too are a co sleeping/ bed sharing family! I honestly don't think I would have enjoyed breastfeeding as long if I had to actually get up for it in the middle of the night! Made it so much easier and we all got more sleep.
I know this isn't a recent video, but I'm looking to UA-cam to hekp start weaning my 16 month old out of my bed. I am a restless sleeper, so I think this is waking him often at night, making us all miserable. I'm wondering about your nighttime routine, if she goes to bed around 8pm, what time does she usually wake up in the morning to start the day? We have a bad habit of not going to bed until 10 and waking between 7:30 and 9 for the day.
Hi Amanda, I just stumbled upon your channel and was wondering if you had any tips specific to our cosleeeping situation to transition my son to his crib ;I've been cosleeping- in the sense that we have a smaller travel type crib next to our bed and he sleeps in there and mainly due to the fact that the layout of our house is one where our bedroom is at the back of the house on the first floor and my son's room is the only room on the second floor which is at the front of the house (didn't feel it was really conducive to a good night for him or I through breastfeeding, teething, what have you). I suppose setting up a sleep area on the floor for all of us until he gets used to being in his room/crib since but generally unsure of a effective plan of attack to accomplish this. Any tips, advice? I'm all ears! Thank you!
Genie Oleskie-Dorsey It's tricky no matter how you swing it -- I just started putting my daughter in her own room for naps, and then slowly started her in her own bed for bedtime. She would eventually crawl back in with us, and each time I would bring her back to her own bed until she stopped waking up. There were definitely a few nights where I slept with her in her bed...I'm not sure that helps, but that's what worked for us. Good luck!
I just love your videos :-) I have a 9 month old daughter and she recently stated sleeping in bed with me and naps with me too, she loves it and so do I. It works so well for us, at first I wasn't sure about it since I hear so many people talk about sleep training and to have the baby sleep by themselves etc but this is what we want as a family & seeing your video was just so nice to see someone else that I could relate to.
Ania C I'm so glad to hear this. It's nice to feel like there's other families with similar values/parenting styles. If it feels right, then why stop it, right?! Thanks for sharing!
I never coslept with my first son cause it made me nervous (I thought he would somehow roll off the bed, even with me and my husband sleeping on either side of him! Silly I know...) but we managed to keep up a great breastfeeding relationship for 14 months. With my second son who is 6 months, I cosleep all the time and I can't even imagine getting up as much as I used to with my first! It's so sweet how much he loves sleeping nestled close to my body.
peaches3450 You are a great mom! Your little one must be feel very secure lying close to you. It is hard, I agree, and it's equally hard to say NO to your baby. But then, who said motherhood is going to be breeze? It us, in fact, a tornado, figuratively speaking! But guess what, this, too, will pass!
Hi Amand, im 15 weeks pregnant and in the process of weaning my co-sleeping 20 month old daughter. Did you transition Esme into a cot at any time or straight into her own big girl bed (she now has a queen bed to herself correct?). My girl has a cot but she doesn't seem to like it very much! Thinking the family bed to her own bed idea would work better as opposed to family bed to cot? Love your vlogs as they always make me feel so much more confident!
Phelia Herrera We tried moving to a cot = fail, so we moved her into her own Queen size and it was successful. Plus, there was room for me to sleep there too if needed. Which we did for the first few weeks. I think since she was used to a big bed since birth, her own big bed made the most sense. Good luck to you!
@amandamuse do you recommend night weaning before transitioning from co-sleeping? Or do you think it's easier to just one and done it and do them both at once?
You seem like a gorgeous person inside and out! And a wonderful mother too! I am trying to transition my 3 year old daughter! We also have an 8 month old son and a puppy! Crazy times haha! We are blessed enough to own a big house but both kids' rooms are barely ever used! Your advice is greatly appreciated!
Such an awesome video of information. I am in the same boat with a 13month old. Not pregnant but bfing to sleep and worried she ll never get in her own bed. Thanks!
My 22 month old has been Napping in his room and starts the night there. He wakes up after 2-3 hours at which point we cosleep. I took your advice in this video, and switched out his crib for a floor bed. When we wakes up my husband or I take him back to his room, lie down with him until he falls asleep, then sneak back to our bed. We have done this for 6 nights now, and he still wakes up 4-5 times per night with his longest sleep stretch being 5 hours (once). Usually he only lasts 1.5 hours alone in his bed. Any advice? Will it get better in time?
Did this mean doing it several times in one night of putting her in her bed? My toddler has to hold me hand and wakes up frequently to see if I'm next to him still.
Thumbs up! Thanks for sharing!! My son is 8 month old now, cosleeping in family bed. We will have to do the transition to toddler bed some day. Thanks for your tips!! :)
Hi! So I recently weaned my 19 month from the boob, but he still like to hold them to sleep. He starts off sleeping in his toddler bed that is next to our bed In our room, but wakes up in the middle of the night and ends up in our bed as we’ve coslept since day 1. I am expecting our 2nd in a couple of months and was wondering if putting his toddler bed in his room would help the transition as I am so tired at night already and can’t imagine getting up and putting him to bed since he won’t go back to sleep unless he’s in our bed... any suggestions?
Who dis? 😂 I love that when I go back on older videos I am always like... wait, this isn’t Amanda 🤪 Still binge watching all the content to finally grow some confidence and starting nicht weaning 🙈😭 Thank you for all the great content over so many years 💜💜💜
Thanks so much for the advice. I am trying to transition my 3 year old to her own bed because she is finally weaned off night nursing and I'm tired of literally being kicked off my bed. lol she's very headstrong like me so I know we are in for a long transition but we are up for the challenge.
I know this is an old video, but I've been looking around for co-sleeping information and experiences mostly. The biggest question I have is, does your husband sleep in a separate bed and how do you mange an intimate relationship? That's my biggest issue because we typically and always have (for the last 10 years) had sex when we go to bed for the night. And also, does he mind sleeping in a separate bed? I would really like to co-sleep with my baby but I really don't know my husband would be comfortable with sleeping separate from me.. And the whole sex life situation. I'm struggling!
Every night?! Damn girl! I can't decide if that's a blessing or a curse bhaha! Ok, in all seriousness, generally he sleeps in another bed. It's a non-issue for us. We're creative in the other department, not limited to the bedroom ;)
How old is Esme? Sounds like what we did with my son, he's 2.5yrs (29 months old). He was pretty consistently sleeping thru the night in his own bed until we potty trained him, now he usually wakes around 2 or 3am to pee and ends up in bed with us (which I love!)
My son is 14 months and he starts off in a mini crib in my room and he always ends up in my bed because I’m just too tired in the middle of the night. I’m going to try to start putting him down in his crib in his room and just force myself to make sure to get him back to sleep and put him back in the crib every time now
I know this an old video but I remembered watching this when you made it and have just come back and watched it again. We are transitioning our almost 3 year old in to his own room and big boy bed. We started on Friday so really I'm looking for some light at the end of the tunnel! How does your daughter sleep now? Do you still lay with her whilst she falls asleep and if not how did transition from that to her falling asleep alone? Xx
love it! We co-sleep. Tho i put him in his play pen that's in our room for the first part of the night, then around 1ish he wakes for a feed and he sleeps between hubby and me. its funny how things change you to make you adapt to your childs needs! :)
My daughter is premature I had placental abruption at her time and lost a lot of blood.my baby used to keep me awake the whole night so I decided to go for co sleeping she is 8 months old and still she doesn't sleep through the night I tried very hard but she only sleeps in my arms she can't sleep for longer than one hour even in my arms I am very tired I don't know what to do I am trying to put in her cot but so far no luck
@Amanda muse do you recommend night weaning before transitioning from co-sleeping? Or do you think it's easier to just one and done it and do them both at once?

She just turned 2.5 years. I have a feeling once she's trained through the night, our routine will change again! But honestly, I love those extra snuggles. She's growing so fast, I know it won't last.

I love that you start every video with "hi friends". Thanks for sharing!
Well, it's true, I consider you my friends :)
I've always been amused with the phrase "fell pregnant" like you're just walking along and whoops! There it is😁
We too are a co sleeping/ bed sharing family! I honestly don't think I would have enjoyed breastfeeding as long if I had to actually get up for it in the middle of the night! Made it so much easier and we all got more sleep.
Agreed, it really does help encourage extended breastfeeding. Anything that encourages sleep is great in my books!
I am so glad to be finding your channel! Currently have a BF cosleeping 15 month old and you are answering so many of my questions!
I'm so glad - there are a ton of videos about breastfeeding here on my channel! You've got this! XO

How exactly do you bed share? I mean how to you set up the pillows and blankets and your baby for that matter.
This is a great question...I'll try to address it an upcoming video as it's a wee bit too much to type :)
@amandamuse do you recommend night weaning before transitioning from co-sleeping? Or do you think it's easier to just one and done it and do them both at once?
what happened to the weaning from nighttime feeding video?

Jack is too scrumptious! Are those some waves I see in his hair???
Thank you and YES! I think he's going to have some wave like his Momma ;)

Exactly, it's interesting how we think we know what we're going to do until we're in the situation.
yup! it's nuts! I am def AP...which I didnt even know existed before I became a mom...and already was doing AP related things.
Ah! I needed this! I'm about to start transitioning Elvira to her own bed... I'm scared!
Oooh good luck!

here you look so young and beautiful...why did you cut your hair?
Thanks for this ... I’m cosleeping my daughter is 15 months ... everyone is just pushing me to let her cry it out . I needed a different plan
