    For those who have solidified their fundamental pistol skills and basic skill sets, I wanted to urge you to begin moving toward the next level in becoming a better protector. Incorporate basic tactics into your shooting, in this case, hiding your draw-stroke. Please do not attempt this until your shooting is safe, consistent, and automatic.

    The first question I had to answer for my self before I even considered a gun for my personal defense, was, "Am I willing to take another life in order to protect mine." My immediate answer was yes, then reality struck me. Its one thing to train exhaustively, and highly profficient, its quite another when your target now has a heart beat. John you know exactly where I'm coming from. I feel that there is a large number of people carrying today, that have not been completely honest about what he or she is willing to do. Being able to shoot is great, but pointless if you're not prepared and willing to pull the trigger. Now that I carry, I find I have to be much more vigilant because I am carrying. Things I would have faught tooth and nail for in my youth, aren't worth me taking a life, and potentially leaving my family unprotected. I've become much more of a student in regards to philosophy, history, and the human condition. I see the warrior poet and as I've come to understand it is a well balanced combination of a renaissance man, educated, thoughtful, caring, compassionate, but also equal part primal, very in touch with those primal urges, the willingness to protect, to provide, and do what is required to sustain our own lives, even taking of a life if required.

    "your gonna go buy whatever you want then later when you learn what you don't know, your gonna wish you bought what i said... but.. I digress.." lmao great video man. definitely a very overlooked but absolutely beautiful and cunning tactical principle that most dont even consider and is rarely taught but learned and developed by an intelligent individual through being able to read , outhink and exploit a lesser mind. surprise your enemy. that's what tactics are basically.. cunning..
    dont let em know your coming. when lives are at stake anything fucking goes. well thought out John. and the end of the day one bullet from a psychotic junkie can kill you no matter your training or arsenal. sometimes one reaction or choice in split second are all thats gonna save you. dont miss that opportunity . i fucking love tactics! heres how a real life scenario example of this plays out in my mind eye. your in a crowded bank. kids . women. concealed carrying. option:1 psychopaths bursts in you look intimidating naturally out of the group... law enforcement like... military maybe. guy just instantly shoots u point blank to avoid the chance of even dealing with you before you even have a chance to process your next move.you die after a brutal 2 week stint in the hospital clinging to life after many agonizing surgeries trying to repair your shredded lower bowels ..the bank takes your house and your wife and child end up on the streets you no longer there to provide. a standoff ensues 3 more people end up getting shot 1s a cop and a little girl. before the shooter kills himself.... option 2: you are situationally aware and pick this guy out immediately as he enters the door. instinctiveky adapt your body language and demeanor to appear the farhest thing from a threat instantly psychopaths writes you off naturally following his instinctual urge to address the most obvious concern. you are wimpering like a little girl even but moving slowly to a optimal position, he turns and moves to an intimidating big biker looking guy immediately and starts controlling him. you turn and blow the guys brains out with your glock 43 with a jesse james draw as he turns his back to you he falls dead before he hits the floor, theres not even a suprised look on his face because his nerves didnt have the chance to process what happened. everyone walks away unharmed but some needing minor councilling.a grandmotherly teller hugs you and gives youa plate of home made cookies.. there was a hot chick in the bank too. you end up boning her that night. she then leaves of her own volition in her own vehicle. texting you later. i dont know if you were more of a hero back in the bank or last night. the end. but wait.. just kidding.. if your still reading there's more. this hot chick is also bisexual and a pornstar and brings her friend. There's a couple explosions and stuff and driving around in suped up muscle cars with some epic music as you speed into the sunset with some stunner shades on.with a cold beer in hand...hair blowing majesticly in the wind you may even have a beard in which case it looks hard as fuck;.. Anyways i too have digressed.... this leads me to the moral of the story.. always take option 2. option 1 sucks

    • @jasonhester1294
      @jasonhester1294 7 років тому +8

      I used to be a glock guy--still have two that I really appreciate. But everyone else has caught up. Springfield XDM, Smith and Wesson M and P, Walther PPQ, FN 509, Sig p320, or HK VP9 are all fine guns. Probably left someone out. Glock's advantage is the accessories. Shoot them all and see which one you shoot the best--they all go bang when you pull the trigger.

    • @DanUtley
      @DanUtley 7 років тому +3

      Jason Hester S&W doesn't make a gun that competes with the G19. XD has a stupid grip safety. VP9 is a larger gun for the same capacity. PPQ is great pistol, but for size and capacity, the G19 is extremely hard to beat. Ergonomics are a different story of course. Byt the G19 is regularly heralded as one of the best pistols ever made because of the size to capacity ratio and stupidly good reliability

    • @jasonhester1294
      @jasonhester1294 7 років тому +3

      D. Utley nothing wrong with the G19. I used to have one. I prefer both the PPQ and XDM 3.8. It's all subjective of course. The XDM doesn't have a stupid grip safety-- it has a grip safety which doesn't bother me. The M and P 9c is S and Ws offering in this class but I don't like the trigger much. The H and K although slightly larger is imo a superior gun but not a better value. G19 is great but there are other options to be investigated.

      Pretty simple for me and I own many firearms. Glock for me here’s why
      1 always works
      2 ease of maintenance
      3 accurate
      4 it will eat anything I feed it ( none of that it needs quality ammo foolishness)
      5 weather is never an issue

    My Lord! I cannot agree with you more. I moved to Nevada last year and I quickly got into a CCW class. When we got to the range, I was frankly horrified at some of the people who were REQUALIFYING for their CCW. One woman had absolutely no clue how to load her P365 and another gentleman on the line eventually had to have one of the instructors load the gun for him!!! He was physically incapable of doing it! I talked with one of the instructors and she said those two were some of the good ones! Yikes! Of course, that had to be hyperbole, but these two requaled and got their CCWs.
    I'm all for the 2nd Amendment, but anyone who doesn't get basic and tactical training is an idiot. Would you buy a chain saw and just kind of muddle you way through using it?

    John , great video as always ! I don't understand the dislike so many have for Glock. Recently decided to get back into shooting. Was in army many years ago, decades ago... kept up archery, gave up guns. Anyway, got my FSC , great course and went to range with instructor. Tried 5 different handguns ! Glock 17 and 19 , a SW 357 revolver, MP shield, lcp 380.. For a beginner, the Glock 19 is about as good as it gets. Very accurate, easy slide, not to much recoil, just a great weapon. That being said, the others were good and all were fun to shoot , but the 19 was sweet !!! I don't know about trigger stuff or bore axis , but I do know quality , and ease of use and a Glock is nice. If I could afford one, that would be my choice. So why the hate ? I thought the idea was to get people interested in shooting and self defense , to stand for our 2nd amendment rights, our freedom to carry for our protection. If someone new to shooting reads comments and because gun guru Bob says Glock sucks and new guy tries all but Glock, then doesn't like them and says well ,self defense just ain't for me and gives up , didn't we just lose a supporter ? Sure people will find them different, grip size , recoil, ease of loading, cleaning etc. . I just feel we need include them all without the negative comments, save that for the range with your buddies.

      @@WarriorPoetSociety having watched many channels before my decision to re enter the wonderful world of weapons, You put on a very classy, informative, creative and most of all HONEST program. Thank you for that ! As I have, at the moment, no one to discuss issues with, I must communicate through YT. Sad yes ,but a good knowledge base. So, if I choose to carry empty chamber , I shouldn't carry ? Huh? Where I live in the SF BAY AREA , 15 + yrs., I'm more likely to win the lottery than need a hot weapon. Now , a few miles away at night , well thats a different story. So for safety sake, it makes sense to carry with one in the chamber when circumstances dictate, situation changes and those decisions are made by me .Yet another issue that may cause ANYONE considering to reconsider... Comfort with carrying safely seems to me to be more important than carrying chambered. I'm sure this decision has turned many away from carrying at all if they ate made to feel inadequate if they dont carry with a round chambered. Your thoughts please !!!

    I'll go ahead and humble myself and say I will be buying a Glock 19 here in the next few months. My Kimber Warrior isn't bad as duty weapon in tandem with a Carbine, but for CC i think more rounds with fewer mags (not to mention the fact 9mm vs. .45 hollow points have almost identical ballistic properties) is worth it.

  • @GaveMeGrace1

    Hi John, I’m actually considering the Glock 33; largely because I was concerned that with the recent school shooting my state might pass an obscene fantasy law that a ten round pistol magazine defines as an “assault weapon.” That 357 Sig has 9 rounds and can fire a subsonic HOllow Points equal to 9mm (or hotter) and swap out for Extreme Penetrator just in case the local black bear gets hungry. Anyway, that’s my thinking for those oppressed by magazine capacity. Your thoughts?

    Interesting, I was the last days thinking about how good does a shot need to be in order to consider to train for other aspects of shooting. And then I watched this (again) and you were talking about shooting the wall. So, the question is still how accurate should you be before paying attention to the next things. Though I think at some stage, it isn't that you stop training accuracy, but that you add other aspects to the training. Like you have differert additional training sessions. Still the question is, how accurate should you be? For example with (yes I did buy a glock 19, and a airsoft glock for dry fire) a glock 19 on 6 yards, what should the accuracy be before continueing with the other aspects?

    When I go to the range just to do the basics of just shooting at a paper target, I use small post it notes to shoot. It’s a small target and since its colorful you can tell if you hit your target.

    I prefer Walther over glock because of the look and feel unless you plan on doing a lot of upgrading

    "I see all these people tense up when about to draw" @ Lucas @ Baret

      I didn't have those 2 in mind. We all tense up when going for a record, but I've seen +trexarms and +Truexodus really play it cool too. The less practiced guys are usually the big offenders I've seen.

      +John Lovell (warriorpoetsociety) Lucas always is saying something along the lines of "loose muscles are fast muscles" or something similar

      He also says "tight pants, tighter grouping" but I digress :D

    The M&P Shields are a better choice than a G43. The G19 tops both.
