- The Mid South is one of the most unique festivals I’ve ever been a part of. Part Gravel Bike Race and part Music festival, I joined forces with @jhspedals to improvise an hour set at this festival, playing bass. It was a blast. Thanks to @themidsouth for having us, I can’t wait for next year.
We are now signed to a major label and opening for Garth Brooks
Find out where he hid the bodies!
Finally!
I think it’s cool you sent Rhett out to stilly with no info.
You should get Nick to dress up as Chris Gaines.
battle of the slides
Josh is such an original and inventive player. i have been missing his playing on the JHS channel. Never boring.
Just watched. I remember none of those songs lolol so fun!
Was there singing?
What is your guitar? It looks like a Starcaster but I can't find one with the pickups or tone rollers.
@@jerrygardner2968 I'm pretty sure that's a custom Bilt Relevator.
I never remember ANYTHING I play when my friends and I jam!! "hey, let's do that again"... uhhh
@@40WattPodcast thanks. Sweet guitar
seeing Addison again, tears to my eyes, awesome play by the four of you at the end, I'm digging this band so much.
The fact that Rhett seems to be living the life and seems to make fast friends with everyone he comes into contact with keep me coming back to this channel as much as the actual guitar content itself. The event itself seems awesome on this one.
"you know what we gotta do; Jazz Odyssey"
"we are not about to do a freeform, eh, "jazz exploration" in front of a festival crowd"
*5 minutes later*
"you are witnesses at the birth of spinal tap II; hope you enjoy our new direction"
Why did that DFL segment at the end make me a bit emotional, though??? Oh yeah, because humans can have such a capacity for good and are built for community, however that might look. Awesome vid, great vibes
Same here, People can be monsters, but we can ALSO be empathic, funloving, supportive, and sharing the good.
I have never commented on any post, anywhere, anytime. This was great Rhett. Thank you for sharing these amazing people and a truly wonderful event.
This was all so awesome, but the very last part... beyond words.
Dude thank you so much for sharing this. I wish I could’ve seen you guys play, it looks like it was so much fun! And the music you all make is soo good. I love when talented musicians such as Josh Rhett Nick and Addison come together and put on an amazing show with their musicality, friendship, and creativity. Seriously, that performance floored me!
What a hoot 🎉 ... thanks for sharing this experience, Rhett ... and the music was RAD!! My have to drift up from Austin next year take in the whole thing in-person! Cheers 🍻
Cannot thank you enough for this video! Amazing people, community and great music! Great work on the video itself, felt like I was right along for the ride. You really captured the spirit of the whole event. Happy for you and everyone involved
I miss Josh. JHS UA-cam just seems like it hasn't been as interested in their prior gig since Addison left...
❤ things evolve and flow. Addison is not why the channel took a break or shifted, it's simply because of you keep doing the same thing, you will burn out. I'm in it for the long haul and I refuse to play the UA-cam algorithm games ❤
@@joshuaheathscottJosh you are a gift of a human, thank you for everything. Or at LEAST for some things.
@@joshuaheathscott old guy frequent commenter, never miss your channel... ever... Your wisdom rocks. Long haul... 1K years is as a day! Sincerely, Sam... Keeper of the Long Haul!!!
I’d love to see an album with the 4 of them. It would be killer! Maybe someday…
Awesome!! One word for this entire race/music fest/video.
You did a great job capturing and sharing the vibe of the entire event, Rhett. It was perfectly encapsulated in the music that you made on stage. Great video!
Thank you for sharing this experience !
thanks for sharing your experience with us and great playing!
Loved everything about this.
You 4 absolutely need to start a real band. I was digging the sounds coming off that stage at the end. Yall rock!
Again, Rhett great content. I look forward to your new stuff all the time man.
I very often save your videos to watch later because there's so many things I want to watch and I like to save the best for last, but I just realised that just watching you do the stuff you love is so inspiring to me that I should actually watch them first because it makes me happy and I aspire to be more like you and do more of the things that I love, so that's what I'm gonna do from now on 😊🙏🏻
I had tears in my eyes for the finish. What a community... incredible.
Dude this was such a cool video. And just so chill, I'm recovering from being in the hospital for the better part of a week and this really lifted me up and gave me the urge to pick up my guitar, which I haven't had the desire or energy to do since I went in. Thank you Rhett, Tilly, and Josh!
what a story every week! it seems that people in music is as close as my favourite yt channels! we only need Rick, Cris, Marty... Cheers!
a wild Addison appears!
Your best production yet by far, well done!
That’s great. And the DFL section at the end was truly heartwarming. Nice one people!
I can literally feel Josh's utter pain trying to decide which pedals to bring to the stage... Great vid Rhett, great gig, thanks!
Man... that shoegaze vibe really took me back in time!... And thar The Edge kindda strumming in the end... oh, so great. Guys, you're awsome!
Ok dude, I’m tearing up here with my morning coffee. Fantastic journey and video. 🤘❤️
I genuinely enjoyed everything about this video. Job well done everyone!
This is the video genre crossover that everyone needs in their lives!
You 3 are freaking awesome together!
Probably one of my favorite videos to date
Very cool Rhett. Way to bring the band together like you did. It evolved nicely. Jams can be magic.
They waited till everyone crossed the finish line. Beautiful.
Beautiful!! And you guys are great!!!
This whole thing was great, but the way it built up to the 4-piece version of the band (BURNING- NEED MORE), and the finish line scene? Freaking epic.
Love your crossover into the bike world Rhett. I'll have to put the Mid South on my event list for next year if the music is going to be great on top of the riding.
Really nice one Rhett, Josh, Nick and all the others. Great job!
Congrats. Very artistic family, a photographer and a musician!
wow i think its actually better to come last in this race. seeing everyone still there cheering at the end was so inspiring
Back in my 20's cyclocross used to be one of my favorite ways to lose my breakfast in the mud.
That was beautiful, thanks for sharing.
This matched my vibe today, so well.
Damn. The bar on this channel has just been raised-incredibly high.
This is literally the only reason I could ever think wanting to go to Oklahoma. Looks so fun.
Josh has actually really inspired me, both as a guitarist, and to wanting to build pedals. I'm honing my soldering skills, and my guitar playing. Thanks Josh! Rhett and Nick are really cool, too. Rock on guys!
God bless the last one across the line! Nearly 16 hours in the saddle. OH! THE CHAFING!💥💥💥
Sweet, dudes. My two fav things: bikes and guitars! So awesome y'all were there. Next step, YOU get a bike and start riding.
I don’t watch all of your videos but this one is easily top 2-3. Super great vibes! Thanks for sharing
I love this, this was awesome to watch
It was the starting line speech for me, I’m probably gonna use that for my events 😂 thanks y’all 🥂
Sounds great guys! That drummer is being under-used though. I hear he can really sang! Gotta love those festival gigs with two dudes standing up front listening. “We’d like to thank Todd and his friend whose name I forget for coming out.”
Great to see Ben Delaney in one of your videos, very interesting to see the race, in addition to the music.
that was a lot of fun to watch. good work!
Ok the DFL thing was the best part. You guys playing was amazing. But we all know that. But seeing those two coming across that finish line is special.
Well done, Rhett. You definitely rose to the challenge!
This 4 piece opening for Jason Isbell....show of the year
"3 UA-camrs in a trenchcoat" is a pretty sick band name tbh
the same trench-coat?
@@richardclark.Yes, stacked vertically. Otherwise, it would be weird.
@@grandudetonesnob7107 not really. I think Beato was already in there with Rhett anyway?
@@richardclark. if so, their missing an epic comic opportunity. Josh's head sticking out the top, with Nick's legs sticking out the bottom would be hilarious!
Darn it…. Started getting a bit teary eyed as you played the end of your set but went full waterworks at DfL. I’ll be there next year. Guitar in hand with my drum machine. I’ll play any corner.
There are definitely some cool ideas for some great songs in those jams. Get to it boys ;)
So fun! And I want to see more of Josh's M7!
Gravel is life! This was bad ass Rhett! Mid South is so freakin' baller! Saw a few of my ol' teammates in this. Even spotted my boy Ted King. Man it is so awesome how popular gravel has gotten!
I'm quite sure you guys Killed it Rhett 💯☺️
Great video! What an awesome ending!!!
That was incredible.
That whole event looks so freakin cool. I'm not into bikes at all and I still want to go...
Haha! I watch all you guys! Rhett, you got some Bass chops man!
Josh must like Thurston Moore. Great playing. Cheers
THIS IS GLORIOUS!!!
So cool..! When I was still in the Life,I’d have jumped at an off the wall gig like that..! Those things.. the spontaneous things.. become nuggets of beautiful memories later in life… I speak from experience… trust me… ✌🏼❤️
That second jam is what I imagine The Cure sounds like when jamming.
Backstage Journal is my fav
We know Rhett’s a killer guitarist, but I’m seeing Josh’s playing in a new light, even though I’ve seen him play on his channel many times.
So cool to see Addison again. I always loved the jams with Nick, Josh and Addison and with Rhett there as well it adds to the cool factor.
I figured it would be shoegazey and it sure was! Sounded good guys.
Imagine this Trio touring overseas! Super cool.
Would love to see the whole show here!
"I find that the USB-C gives me better dynamic range than USB." LOL! Classic! I still love Big League Chew, too! Well played, Rhett.
"We're just UA-camrs in a rock and roll band..."
Nice job on bass, Rhett!
Everyone was great!
My kinda gig...wingin' it!
Don’t watch your channel much R, but the thumbnail caught my attention, and then what do I see.....Josh & Nick! What a great surprise everyone. Thanks so much for this!🙏
what are the odds that Josh is as nerdy about cameras as he is about pedals?
👀
I was warming up and mashing some beans in a pot for my breakfast, and around the 34 minute mark I think I got a little too into the jam. I hadn't noticed that I was drumming along with my bean masher to the side of the pot. When boiling bean steam started hitting me in the face, I looked down and my beans were basically juice at that point. 🙃 Worth it. Cool video.
It's like all my worlds are coming together. Now if you all start playing Belgian Cyclocross races I might need to quit my job to go on tour.
I’m not a great knower of music but, your tone with Josh was something so real and yeah thank you for doing it and sharing.
Nicks a legend
I love how the ending feels more like a WWE walk in then a bike race 😂
Stillwater, OK is an awesome town! Home to the great Oklahoma State University, Eskimo Joe's, Hideaway Pizza, Iron Monk Brewery and the Mid South festival! Thank you, Rhett for making this video.
Awesome 👏🏻
Needs the four of you. Having Addison on bass took it to a whole other level.
Notaklon Josh in the house
Great video Rhett... Would love to see a deep dive into that bass rig :)
Love this, Rhett!!
You guys sound great together
5:20 Great lookin’ P-bass R.🎸👍
That first improv sounds legitimately good guys, haven’t made it past 5 min yet
Whatever that was you guys were doing...I want more of that. I want a lot of that.
Photo/video the Tour Divide next. Amazing scenery and bikes of course.
14:24 when the Leicas come out, it's go time.
