why bring others down, let the groups who top charts top becuz u won't keep them from doing so, superm didn't do anything wrong it is a marketing tactic and it is pretty common; don't spread hate you can really hurt them and you might be responsible for the death of someone from the group so stop
I just want to say that ARMY has actually been talking about the bundling issue for a while. SuperM isn't what made us start. We're just louder now because it was more blantant in your face and obvious that was how they got it. I actually like music from their main groups and the members of SuperM. I think it does the artists a disservice when they only get to the top thanks to these tactics.
Fyi: Danny I've never hated you, or disagreed with you on your kpop opinions. You keep it real and say what everyone is thinking but, because of cyber bullying nobody has the guts to say. Thanks for being brave! Love you guys. 💗
Facts. I hate that he always has to apologize just for being real about his opinion. I don't believe he's ever insulted looks, weight, intelligence or anything. It's just his opinion on his own taste. It's kind of ridiculous he has to hold himself back because people want to coddle their favs
Agree I like that he has an opinion on things, it give me a fresh perspective. I also really hate how some people would take up for him when he said something about others but time he said something bout their groups they on some other stuff. Also they misquote a lot of things he said. I be like were we watching the same thing. Anyway, Danny hope you keep being you.
Yesssss!! If anything, Danny always gives me a stomachache from laughing too much. Which is a good thing cause you're boosting my endorphins production!! Stay real and stay true Danny ^^

Andrea Rincon You still shouldn’t care. Before kpop, artists who made it on any chart did so because they were making bomb ass relatable music. With kpop, it isn’t even about the song. It’s bragging rights. There’s no pride in earning titles if your music sucks ass.
Im with you. Yes it hurts how the industry works. And i think army is just mad at the system/company not at the group. And are calling for a change. But at the end of the day, i love bts. And i am happy with how successful they are. They success is their own. And they deserve all of it 😢💜

They aren't fault but as they said human to human a really shitty move to cut it off, the tattoo artist didn't ask jungkook specifically to come at their place and get that tattoo due to which all shit happened. @@npcimknot958 They're actually EARNING 'moneeeeeeey' thru marketing which if there were no one to actually buy it, would be a disaster economically! So, it is competitive in every way!
I love how we are describing this bundling stuff as legitimate business tactics and also "gaming the system" and "shady ass shit." 😂 Nicki Minaj actually had a very public blow up over it last year and Billboard has said that they are changing the rules to restrict bundling for next year. I think Danny is right in that it calls the legitimacy of the chart into question. In which case, why congratulate anyone for their position on the chart? Unless you are congratulating them for effective marketing tactics and not music sales, it's meaningless. I think the biggest frustration for fans of BTS (and other artists who don't use these tactics) is that it cheapens their achievement BECAUSE it devalues the chart. SuperM had over 60 BUNDLE OPTIONS. They 100% aren't the only ones doing this, but it's just getting outrageous in how bad it's gotten. I want to see Korean music grow in popularity in the US, but it's turned into a total cash grab and it's going to kill the longevity for Korean groups in the market.
I agree. It's not because I love BTS that this annoys me; it's because I love K-pop. It's taken years to get this music taken seriously in the States and I feel like superm is going to blow all of the credibility in one gross swoop. I've already had friends of mine pointing out the NYTimes article about SM being shady as a sign that K-pop isn't legit. This may seem like a silly little marketing strategy but it could be a real problem down the road.
AVDisco06 Such a great explanation of why there is a lot of frustration over this. Literally Billboard should just take the bundling shit out and purely base it off of Album sales and streaming. After all this is all about Music from the first place and not Merch. If Merch is that important over music, Billboard should make a separate chart for the No. 1 Merch Sales and one chart for No. 1 Album Sales. MERCH IS NOT MUSIC PERIOD !
Kpop was being fine even without american validation etc. Idk why kpop fans nowdays being so insecure as kpop will be claimed as shit when the truth is kpop have been got stereotype shit by general people in america. General people wont even care about kpop, only kpop fans care about their artist. Kpop are just like another community by them, same like animelovers. It will never become an mainstream thing
@@γινομαιενα I disagree in that I can absolutely see a world where Korean music becomes much more mainstream in the US. Anime is actually a fantastic example of a thing that was relegated to subcultures and considered very uncool that has become MUCH more popular with the general public over my lifetime. Pokemon is probably the best example. Regarding the so-called "Western validation" issue, I don't think it's necessary that any Korean group becomes popular outside of Korea. If a group doesn't want to pursue a career outside of Korea, that doesn't make their work or art less valuable or meaningful. That being said, as someone from the US, I have an interest in Korean groups becoming popular in the US because, not only do I want to see a group I love become successful in a larger market and reach as many people as possible, but I also want to see my country become more open to art and music from other places and view it on equal terms.
@@eldeleonjr77 I think I became more disgusted when I found out that all of their website sales were counting towards the charts, regardless of where they were being shipped to. They found, essentially, a loophole by (if I understood correctly) having all of the music licensed under their US and Korean label. The Billboard 200 chart is supposed to measure music sales in the US. By counting every album bought, regardless of where they are being shipped to, it completely skews the numbers. So, it doesn't even measure *merch sales* in the US. It's a mess.
i think Danny and David should do research more on 'heat' between fandom. i think people make fuss about superM getting no 1 because of the past occasion where some toxic fan of EXO trending 'sajaegi' and some make rumors that bighit bought tons of albums so that they able to get on chart. the fact that their favourite group now that using this 'marketing tactics' is kinda petty and that's why BTS fan got mad. Danny and David should digging deeper because everything is begin with something. There is some history shit behind this fight. *No hate on any group though...
Exactly. And I'm sure they know that. They aren't saying it bc...honestly when has anyone ever acknowledged all the bs other fandoms and companies did to bts. Never
Thank you. You told the true here!!! They are just hypocrites who invalidates BTS success but got blind when others cheats. How funny! Edit: I'm talking about BTS haters btw. Just to clarify
I think the problem is that those physical albums were not all bought by americans in america. Even koreans fans that bought the album from a korean site got their album counted for the billboard chart. That's honestly ridiculous to me, beside those 60 bundles lmao. I just feel bad for the number 2 artist that got 180 million streams for her album in US while SuperM only got 4 million. Also western artists that do those ridiculous bundles are always called out/ made fun of. I just wish billboard would make some change about the regulations of their chart, otherwise being number 1 on their chart won't mean anything anymore. The number 1 album is supposed to be the most popular album in the US (for a certain week) not the least popular one.
Please don't think about them. Don't use their name. We are not part of k pop . We never were. Everyone can play around so let them . Billboard does not represents the whole world and BTS is everywhere . The whole world knows them. Whether billboard changes their policy or not, it will never affect BTS . Just wait for the next BTS comeback. Please don't waste your energy on anyone who does not mean anything.
No you're not allowed to buy the albums if you're not from the US please research before you say anything Also BB200 only counts american numbers- albums and streams
I hope that the ones who are sending the message no that words are very harmful to the spirit and soul and I don't see why they are so hard on top because he wasn't harming anyone but his self and he was at home in his own private so as for him coming back I am looking forward to it, I am a true fan and will stand behind him

You mean, kind of like how everyone obsesses over which place to buy their album from so that it counts on both the Gaon and Hanteo charts? Hmmm. Almost as if you're masquerading overseas sales as domestic for the Korean charts?
right but billboard weights physical album sales heavier than streams so i don't know how much #2 got in physical album sales but its likely why super m was at #1. Other big artists have done this too in the past where they get ranked #1 even though their streams are less but their actual album sales were higher.
@@nobiasjustlove yeah but their point was that SuperM's album didn't actually have any US demand or popularity and was majority carried by the 60 merch bundles, unlike the #2 album which was actually a hot release in America.

I'm pretty sure sm said that capital records is responsible for all promotions and that they just chose the members and made the music so I'm not sure who to blame
I was really excited to see who would be the group to top billboard after bts but sm just needs to make kpop look terrible. They have groups like exo and shinee who really deserve it. I mean, exo could've probably topped billboard if they focused on them in the last few years. Most people are not going to acknowledge and overlook this #1. You're not going to beat bts with a 'strategic' trick. I hope sm comes back to their senses after bts' comeback and focus on their most successful groups.

BTS and bighit is suing the karaoke shop person who leaked the photos of jungkook and his friend aka the tattoo artist. The tattoo shop is suing too. So that's done. About superm....there is a huge difference between bundling your album with like a really expensive concert ticket..thats what prince did and some other artists do which is fine cause it just shows you have actual people who do listen to your music and appreciate it so as to come to your concert....it is like "hey you bought this expensive ass concert tickets, here u can have 1 album" ...it's not the same as bundling 5 to 10 albums with a cheap ass merch/ concert ticket. ...there is a thing called artistic integrity and respect towards one's own art. As a music fan in general when people push the boundaries of bundles its disgusting. This goes to all artists who do it. The artist who got no.2 summer walker...got almost all her songs charted on hot 100....and superm didn't chart even 1.....billboard has lost its legitimacy...but artists are at fault too ....just cause you can do some stuff doesn't mean you should.

It's kpop... The whole idea of kpop is to sell the most you can, there is only a few artists that have artistic integrity. (Because their company controls at the very least the music they release).
Ya'll are behind. It isn't just merch bundles. They were also giving out 10 free digital downloads with one merch sale which they then encouraged people to distribute out to friends. They then advised people to delete the original tweet or download link. In addition, foreign sales contributed to the US charts. There were a couple Korean websites that showed that a Korean fan purchasing the item IN KOREA would have that sale count toward the US Billboard chart which is not okay at all. This is beyond chart manipulation, and Billboard is facing ever increasing controversy for allowing merch bundles to count toward album sales. Not to mention that the end of week predictions on their sales were off by 100k which has never happened before. 10-15k maybe, but 100k is basically turning on the Batsignal and announcing that there are super shady practices going on because you can't be off by that much unless there's so backroom deals. Look into the problem more. Plus, bundling actually hurts the artist. It cuts into their piece of the sale leaving them with nothing. In fact, sometimes the artist ends up owing money to their own company when merch/ticket bundles are put together. Essentially SM cannabalized their own group for the sake of pride. Shameful. I don't want to hear any "well everyone does it so it's fine." First of all, everyone certainly *doesn't* do it (especially not to this extent), and it screws over the consumer/the artist being forced to bundle/the honest artist that doesn't bundle/the up-and-coming artist without big company money to push their name. This is BS, and you know it. I also hope people realize that all the strides made to legitimize Korean musicians just took some giant leaps back because they'll be viewed as scammers and cheaters, juicing sales through ridiculous bundles/illegal means. Thanks SM. Your greed isn't just a stain on your group, it's a stain for every Korean artist. What a POS. And I am not attacking the members. In fact, if you love the group and its members, you should be pissed off too because SM is basically making them work endlessly AND taking their money by devaluing their albums.
"Nicki Minaj does it too" if you did research beyond the surface you would know that Nicki spoke out against it. She literally said merch is not music. I can't believe you think bundles are okay ...I don't care that others do it...thats the same as a child getting in trouble for bad behavior & excusing the behavior cause others are doing it!! No it's flat out wrong. You didn't look up all the background on the issue. The ranking determines awards. If you get a title due to manipulation then you are making a mockery of the music business. So that you know this issue highly investigated due controversy that arose in late 2018. Ruling has changed but will not go into effect till 2020. Bundles will not be allowed in ranking of artists. & its about time. Reason waiting till 2020 as new rule determined in June 2019 & already artists had already used bundles to gain top ranks. So starting fresh new start this next year. This is a big issue. It's not okay. As then those with deep pockets can manipulate the system. Also what about bulk order of albums in US then shipped to S Korea for resale? Those charts are to based upon sales in US only. Do you understand the significance of these actions? I want people around the world to acknowledge Kpop for its quality of music & performance. Not determined by merchandise. Controversary that brought all to a head & why... DJ Khaled & Travis Scott brought forth the issue of what bundling does for artists. Marketing is everything when you’re famous, and DJ Khaled is one we’ve seen among the heavy hitters that want rankings. According to the New York Times, “bundles” help artists boost their rankings on Billboard’s charts. This is because bundles cost way more than the price of an album and allow the artist to claim higher sales. An album costs what? $10-20? While an album “bundled” with merchandise can push that sale to over $100. Title is determined by sales. As you can see adding merchandise in the mix gives higher dollars earned & less albums sold. So then ranking in music charts are not being determined by the music but by the merchandise. The system is wrong. Needs fixed. As of 2020 bundling will not be allowed.
@@railexdosch1360thank you .... it is something that American artists got into heavy in last years. I am like then who should have been brought forth as true leaders of music being sold? As a Korean American, I'm just embarrassed by SuperM and SM with this 60 bundles tactic. You all should see locals tweets in regards SuperM beating Summer Walker. Can't even blame them since I knew this was going to happen. You can already see it with the Social Artists chart. It reads like Inkigayo line-up yet none of those Idol groups sell in the U.S. Take all the bundles away and SuperM is just another long line of SM groups selling 25k units. I can respect EXO's past hustle, but NCT and SuperM, yall selling out, bending over and taking it up the you know what and thanking the industry for it without even getting a reach around. FYI - it costs artists money out of their own pocket to bundle merch. Also, with about half their concert tickets still available, which I assume is where SM planned to get their $$$ back from not getting anything from album sales (actually paying Capitol for the bundles), if you're invested in SM, good luck come that 4th and next year's 1st quarter earnings reports.
Capital records does their promotion tho, if I understand correctly sm didn't invest that much money into it and just produced the music. I think sm mostly want exols and shawols to get to know nct and took the offer capital records made (yes, the idea isn't even SMs). Capital records probably thought it would make profit lol
@@triangles-zb7np Where did you get that SM didn't invest much money in to it and only produced the music? Capitol Records have never taken this level of embarrassing promotion and bundling with any of their artists before, it just screams SM.
@@imtheguy1001 that's what they said on the press conference and other people said that too but I could be wrong. Maybe the bundle thing really is sm idk
@@triangles-zb7np Capitol Records is doing their promo, but look into bundling merch. Artists pay out of their pocket to the label. In this case, SM, not SuperM, pays Capitol for the bundling. Capitol, depending on how much they made off the front-loaded bundling, may or may not have made a profit since they spent a lot on promoting the group. My guess is neither will make much profit off this venture. Capitol since there isn't much in terms of pure album sales w/o bundling. SM since they won't sell out their concerts. But the news of the #1 did bump SM stock up 3k won so there's that for them
The problem with bundles is that not EVERY artist can do it. It’s been proven in studies that bundling causes companies to LOSE money, meaning only those that can afford to can do bundling, essentially buying their way to the top. So brand new artists like Summer Walker, who got 155M streams in the US last week, but can’t afford to do a massive amount of bundling, lose their deserved number 1 album to an artist with only 4M steams in the US. Summer had like 7 songs from her album chart on the Hot 100, Jopping was 25 on the bubbling under (LITERALLY the lowest position you can possible chart a single). What this shows is that their really ISNT a demand by US consumers for SuperM, and that the bundling massively inflated their numbers. This will result is a ton of media play and will cast a shadow of doubt on any future korean artists that get number 1. It’s also possible that because of this, the album will drop straight off the chart which is honestly more embarrassing that if they had charter at a decent rank and slowly fell off.
Joyonghi Ijeneun ya and after i posted this it was discovered that they’re importing albums from the US to WW. It’s still not being sold anywhere but the US so of course their sales are still higher enough to chart when their entire WW sales are counting towards it... and MSG isn’t as great of an achievement as you seem to think it is. Sure it’s a good sized arena, but with members made from pre-existing popular kpop groups I don’t think anyone was really expecting otherwise. Especially in one of the largest cities in the world where kpop has always been fairly popular. Like congrats for them but as much as you’d like to say it they aren’t a “rookie group” selling out MSG. Exo fans alone could probably do that and they don’t have a super massive presence in the US either. SuperM’s streaming numbers are still non-existent, which i also mentioned in my comment and you didn’t address at all...hmmmmm
Joyonghi Ijeneun none of the separate groups sold anything out but the combination of popular members from the different groups did? like that’s something to be proud of. it literally took SM taking their more notable idols from their own groups and throwing them together and making them perform a overhyped song like Jopping and release a mini album of all things 🤦🏽♀️ if that’s what you’re proud of, congratufuckinglations you stan a shitty ass concept.
Thank you for spelling it out Ciana. For fans of the groups it’s not the artist in question it’s their company’s choosing to devalue their own artist just to gain a top position. For the company to prepare so many bundles they already knew that without it their artist would not be #1 in the US. This does not help Kpop it’s just sad.
summer walker has a lot of entry on hot 100 ; Super M doesn't. The amount of bundle sales they use was ridiculous; 60 bundles.. i know she used bundles too.. at least people are listening to her music.. (she has the streams to back it up) congratulations to Super M .... but this is going to follow them for a very long time. The locals are not happy with them. what is the point of making music, to sell T-shirts and posters? it not Super M fault.. i blame SM greedy ass. Also billboard is changing the bundling rules next year..... good luck to everyone and their faves.
@VTS 1230 yes because of the mess DJ khaled created because of bundling... he was pissed because he did not get number 1 early this year.... yes the rules for bundling will change in 2020... but I don’t know if they will cancel it or put a limit to it... anyways we shall see.
Go research why we are mad about it. Celebrities from US market does that I agree but BTS had slowly gain respect from xenophobic people here from organic results but another group come in a prove again kpop is manufactured. You only think it is all about results. It just ruin the korean image.
actually, going by the rules (when the other artists who follow the same rules are pissed at superm) doesn't make it acceptable. example: criminals are condemned by the public and the law, but they are legally innocent because of the law. they played the law, similar to how superm (SM) played the rules. the telltale sign is when other artists are pissed, it shows that you did something that is against the rules (but technically not against the rules). *in terms of being a heartless businessman, this is perfectly fine. in terms of being respectable artists who compete fairly with music (even fairly with small artists), this is a joke.* this isn't like, "we can't help it. we are popular so we can't help it that our fans made us #1." this is literally manipulating their popularity knowing it will be unfair to smaller artists who worked hard. ofc, some other artists who want to exploit the rules might do the same thing, but if u do it as well, u are just being like them. their actions don't justify yours. Danny again? "it's been like that ... get used to it people." so to paraphrase, "corruption (in any field of your choice) has been like that ... get used to it people." no... crime exists with order, but we have to keep fighting crime to maintain the balance. corruption is the same. you don't simply stop fighting against corruption, because then u can't maintain the balance. another questionable life lesson from Danny...
Seeing all this criticism on SuperM and their marketing strategies makes my heart hurt, since I dearly love all the members and believe that they can do great things together. I think their concerts will be an amazing synergy of their different energies and I can't wait for their future activities! SuperM Fighting! I personally don't have neither a positive or negative opinion on the whole bundleing issue, but at the same time I've never given much shit about charts, awards, trophies and whatever. It all becomes kind of meaningless after a while, especially when everybody is just trying to one-up each other without actually appreciating and enjoying the music & entertainment anymore. the main thing that bothered me is that the albums are so hard to get if you dont live in the US...international shipping+customs is a bitch. But everybody is allowed to have their opinion, and people are allowed to express their feelings! I just wish they were more respectful in the way they talk online. as a superm/nct fan, twitter is an absolute nightmare right now, it gets downright insulting and hateful….people forget that the idols themselves probably have as much say in the marketing & planning as we do.
Your comment really cheered me up while scrolling through the comment section! Thank you for just loving the guys and conciously being postive and peaceful instead of arguing about a lot of things that we can't influence and don't even really concern us. I'm glad to come across comments like yours :)
Agree with everything you said. People (especially armys) are hating on them like crazy. I believe superM deserves all the love, attention and success coming their way. Hopefully this other immature fandom can grow up soon
@@LC-in2ft if this was marketing tactic, sorry but it was a bad one. They are great artists but the huge ego of SM ent. make them do this. One thing is to obtain an album with a concert ticket but with stickers, buttons?? . They as artist deserved better.
If you love the members, you should be angry at bundling. Bundling cuts into their profits from the sales. It's essentially a way companies can cannabalize their own artists for the sake of a #1 title. It hurts the members you love, and it should be outlawed. With the way SM did both ticket and merch bundles, the members probably made hardly any profit at all (pennies for the amount of hard work they're putting into this project). Many, many artists have spoken up against this practice. If you love the members, you should be against bundling (especially bundling to such an extreme).
For the first time I actually don’t agree with them💀💀 I know everyone is doing bundles ok but at least these artists are charting on hot 100 and shit. Superm hasn’t and it looks so lame to see that they are doing all these bundles like earn your way there😭 or at least chart. I have respect for those who earn their way to success not buy their way. Y’all want to talk abt all this “marketing” and that they want to make money but I don’t think that’s what artists become artists for. It’s to make music not money. Idk that’s just my opinion 👌🏽 great video
Maybe not the artista but it's most definitely what the entertainment companies are all about and it's the companies that decide on merchandising and pricing.
Bundling has also been a big thing in books for a while. A lot of people made bestseller lists by bundling their book with a bunch of other author’s books in the same genre, allowing 20 people to get a bestseller title instead of just one.
Superm are indeed now tainted forever in my eyes. I don't care if all these artists "beat the system" because bundles are allowed. Billboard should make that not allowed. And while we are at it.... radio should play what's being most streamed and sold instead of playing what they get paid to play!
They literally made music and they can sing unlike other people we know. Do you realise selling bundles means they're losing money than gaining? It's a strategy to get people to know them better through charts. People will obviously like them because of their music once they check them out.
@@onceyouchogiwayoucantchogi3356 "People will obviously like them because of their music once they check them out" Are you kidding? Everything about SuperM is as manufacture as you can get, how at all do you think that they will garner any sort of meaningful US fanbase? They're excessive bundling is only damaging their reputation.
I may be wrong but I read Lou Miere’s comment as a critique on SM and not the artists. Tbh superm has to be a success since SM has a lot riding on this. It astounds me when people are shocked that kpop companies employ sus tactics to promote and increase sales.
i think all boybands are built to make money or companies wouldn't invest in them if they thought they would be complete failure. this is naive thinking. will every band be successful? no, but companies take risks/calculations in that what they think will be and invest.

@@angelmiaka9899 that's great for bang pd, i hope companies don't copy each other and should do stuff differently, only way to figure out what works and doesn't. If no one tries anything new, no one will know if it will be successful or not. Super M is something that hasn't been done before in the kpop industry so everyone has it under a microscope to see what happens. You know if it succeeds other companies may start doing similar stuff, crossover idols within their own company roster or maybe even cross over company idols? haha one can imagine...
dekammm Only 4k of SuperM’s sales came from bundles. Refusing to realize that SuperM's fandom is literally 3 of the top 10 biggest kpop fandoms combined. They were never gonna flop.
I am an ARMY, and I don't know why my timeline is filled with fights between two fandom, not all are really into it, but some are, and I can only ignore, coz it is rubbish, I am extremely happy with SuperM, exactly as u said it is a marketing strategy, anyone can do anything unless Billboard doesn't specify or limit down chart rules, if Billboard accepts, no matter what means they achieve it truth won't change, so it is good for SuperM, also this won't let BTS down in any ways, so take a chill pill you all☺️✌️
i remember kpop used to be unified when one group succeeds all groups succeed if multiple people/groups get famous over seas thats even better why yall constantly fighting
nicki minaj already shared her opinion regarding this. why would they sell merch if she is selling her music? that's not fair. marketing strategy-wise, yes but obviously, gp won't take kpop seriously after this.
It is not specifically about SuperM. Army protested when Jonas Brothers did it too. But Kpop stan or you only see it as Army not wanting SuperM to succeed. The issue is not them getting #1. It is how they got their #1. It is not fair for the #2 who was robbed. A lot of artists are speaking up on this issue. Check out Nicki Minaj on Ellen.
Let's just congratulate them on their BB#1. We all know those bundling moves caused their reputation to plummet. So much for not seeking "western validation"🤭
I am an Army, and I actually don't care who and how they make it top at Billbord chart. Congratulations to SuperM for topping it. Good for Korean music. But the only reason I think BTS is different, is because they never targeted US market, it happened on its own. Cause no-one even topped billboard before and they never in 100 years though of doing it. Maybe just targeted of UA-cam views. And members genuinely don't seem to care of it. I would say not every Army is nice, and some are total assholes. But theses 7 guys are amazing humans and I'm proud to be a real Army.
The songs aren’t really that bad I can’t stand the rain and super car are really good but it’s S.M. so they already have a huge fan base when you put some of these best artist together
I respect your opinion, you are entitled to it, but the songs on their album were really good from my own standpoint. It went with the concept they were going for.
Oh David, the way you say its just kpop and no need to be competing. Tell that to SMent with all their mediaplay now that their group achieved No.1 and self-proclaimed as the Avengers of Kpop. imagine how k-media gonna react to it. imagine the industry who’s bitter with BigHit will use this oportunity to downplay BTS. yeap. it aint that deep.
It's not that deep! You have to remember that it's just business and all that these companies want to do is to simply make money off of their idols, whether it's BigHit or SM.
@@leehoo9783 Are you seriously calling music "just business"? Maybe a lot of kpop (especially SM) is like that, but where BigHit and BTS are at as artists... that's a serious undervaluing of who they are
@@imtheguy1001 Some idols might be artists (btw I don't understand why only BTS are considered as artists when there are plenty of other kpop idols who write and produce their own stuff), but it doesn't change the fact that these kpop companies' main goal is not to create or spread art, but to produce profit for the company, for its employees and for the artists as well. So there's nothing wrong with saying that it's just business, because if it wasn't about business, then there wouldn't be the need to sell albums, concert tickets and merch. ( btw, sorry if I spelled something wrong, English is not my first language)
@@leehoo9783 I can link you to this for some insight on BTS and why they're considered as 'artists' specifically Of course these companies want to make money, but there's a difference between the extent each company takes this to, I would say SM would be at one end of manufactured for money and Bighit on the opposite end. I would never say that it is 'just for business', even for SM as they have artists who love to release music for fans and want to be heard etc. The purpose of selling albums, concert tickets, and merch of course is to make money, because there would be no reason for all of that to be free, and if it were to all be free, they literally couldn't make a career out of it. Selling your art does not make you not an artist, or just 'business'. Also, when you look at BTS and BigHit who have allowed them to express themselves as artists freely, I don't see how that could be labelled as just business either.
It's not just the bundling (I mean 60 is ridiculous, did you see the free download links too??) It's the fact that they counted international sales as US sales to chart on billboard (or bundleboard as it's known as), by shipping to a US address and then ship international. Western artists don't even do this. Also, this isn't the first time Armys have called out bundling, we speak out when Taylor, Ariana, Justin etc. does it, but K-pop fans are made at us for calling out SuperM? We do it for everyone, no one's getting special treatment. Bighit tried it out for the one Citifield concert last year (but ONLY after they already charted #1 without it) and you had to redeem it at the concert. They found that it made no difference so have never done it again
This kinda crap over Jongkook is just going to isolate him from being able to build genuine friendships. Who's going to want to hang out with him through fear of getting dragged and harassed. I think Big Hit had a moral duty to help them out. Makes them look bad leaving them to fend for themselves when it's their artist that's inadvertently caused this mess. I feel really sorry for them. This is their livelihood and could have severe financial consequences for the staff. It's not like Jongkook will face those issues. Big hit could pay for a lawyer to represent the company to sue those leaving such comments to compensate for loss of income. That would be the nice thing to do.
@Aer /// they DO know who leaked the pictures and footage, BH is suing them. The standard PR tactic is to ignore. When that didn't work, they released an official statement. Now they're taking legal action along with the tattoo shop. Don't talk if you're not going to do your research. Google is free.
@@invisistillawen @Aer /// Just wanted to clarify that BH suing karaoke bar for cctv leak. But there has been another one recently. Pictures from inside of that tattoo shop where JK is clearly posing for a pic with a shop employee. So people are suspicious that someone from that shop (maybe it's not the owner at all, but just irresponsible employee like the one from karaoke bar) is leaking private info and maybe that's why BH is cautious when dealing with them
ill tell you guys why people bring up that this was not a ‘real achievement’ by superm , it’s because as soon as people got to know about it , half of their fandom , instead of being happy about their fav’s success , started dissing bts and armys 🥴 by saying stuff like oh look whose now walking on the road you guys built and the whole ratmys thing etc etc and armys being the ever triggered fandom they are , started replying to this hate by saying that ‘oh well it doesn’t even matter because your fave’s feat isn’t even something to celebrate about’ , and it’s always like that , personally , as an army , i dont really care about superm , i thought i’d get into them if their music attracted me but it wasn’t enough but im still happy for them and congratulate them :D (not that my congratulations really matters x)) but yeah i feel like fanwars are stupid and it’s time exols (there are other fandoms too but this is the main one) and armys stopped fighting like who cares , our faves are earning millions and we are out here dying fighting on the internet , let’s just listen to their music and be peaceful 😌
Don't play the victim card! You guys are bashing SuperM even before their debut until now. Your fellow armys are everywhere in every SuperM's posts on twitter talking sh*t about the boys. Of course, there are good and paceful Armys, but there are many disrespectful Armys too everywhere on twitter attacking other fandoms.
@@joshikadevi7237 First: I don't say that the whole fandom do this. I said that MANY Armys bashes SuperM since before their debut until now. Actually. Yes. Only some bad Armys bashes SuperM. Go to twitter or IG and you will see it. Second: Your sarcasm don't invalid my point.
@Blinkeu FOREVER This is called business. The boys signed with Capitol Records, the most US legendary record company. They're music experts and know what to do. And Billboard herself validated their #1 at BB200. If they did something wrong Billboard would blocked them.
Ana Porto exols and nctzens along with many more groups bashed superm not just armys, no one is playing the victim card. He/she was just stating how the fanwar should just end, and we should all just appreciate the idols music. Incase you didn’t understand that the first time you read it.

When, the number one spot has 4 million streams and number two has 180 million streams, you know its not fair. If you say it is, you’re lying to yourselves
I bought a Super M concert ticket but I’m really thinking about getting my money back.. sometime feels off, I feel weird supporting this company that’s obviously taking advantage of them. As much as I love all of the guys in the group I just don’t think I could sit there at the concert and enjoy it knowing what’s probably going on behind the scenes :(
"relatively smaller fanbase" bruh they got fandoms from 4 different kpop groups. I'm quite happy 4 them, its a huge thing for the artists and their hard work does not go unnoticed. It's a fishy strategy bundling all of ur albums with merch but oh well... what can we expect from an industry right.
I'm afraid the 'relatively smaller fanbase' is true to a considerable extent actually (and I mean no one can even come close to BTS in terms of fandom size anyhow). A pretty big part of the original fandoms (primarily exo-l) are still not too happy about this whole SuperM project and aren't supporting the album. But I totally agree with you in the sense that I'm really happy for the artists! Although the whole billboard chart is pretty fishy, ranking high is still considered a considerable feat so props to them *clap clap*
the problem is superm albums that bought via sm olshop by koreans can shipped to korea and it still counted on bb ..while bb actually is only based on usa sales.. sm didnt give options to buy album in korea but only one usa based album sales link
Enya Estrellado lol.BTS is the king of merch. They are very successful bcs their merch is going so well. They sold 3M physical albums on worldwide this year.If merch is not music,Taeyeon,IU,and ikon are bigger than BTS by digital streams
SHINee SHAWOL I’m sorry to hurt your feelings but they have never stoop so low even when they were starting. You’re right their label makes too many merch but they are not to sell WITH albums. In their lys concert in citifield NYC they gave albums to those who has attended the concert but the album already ranked 1 and sold out millions of copy of it even the songs were number 1 in Spotify and iTunes. What’s not clicking with SuperM? Apparently their song didn’t reach any spot in Spotify nor iTunes but the album ranked 1 bb charts? Well actually I have no words anymore what’s done has been done and their label is to blame I just pity your idols that’s all to it. And once again MERCH IS NOT MUSIC.
curvytangerine oh no I care so much about a group getting number 1 is the most lowest way. This act is definitely a shame for Kpop ruining Kpop’s dignity thank goodness we got our Independence Day from kpop we BTSPOP now we don’t bout y’all kpopies now. Anyway MERCH IS NOT MUSIC.
I don’t care that SM advertised the crap out of them and though I don’t see bundling as legitimate sale numbers, it’s not different from what other western artists are currently doing too. Where my problem lies is that they only made these albums available in the US to purposely influence an American chart where majority Americans did not buy and don’t know who they are. The chart is not meant to reflect international purchases just like gaon isn’t meant to reflect western purchases.
Beckham probably doesn't but the *journalists and media people* certainly cared since they have other events to go to and they are the last people that you want to piss off so respecting their time and being punctual is an important thing to consider as well
For Superm defense, yes its marketing, yes they did not cheat the system and yes they got BB200 #1 (for at least a week). However, the funny thing is they targeted US market, but instead of getting to the top organically, with honor and swag, they chose this way which is complete 180 turn from their concept "Avengers of Kpop". Sending message like " we are this much away from #1", "get us to #1" and so on was kinda cheap (it wouldn't be if it wasn't about "avengers"). I also heard the issue of use of VPN for buying the albums here and there, but I don't think that matters now since they got #1. These things were off for me. If you want to come as a tiger in the US market, you should roar as one. Coming from top groups like EXO, SHINee and NCT, they should have earned the #1 title, not begged for it. Apart from this, the MV was decent and choreography was lit (lyrics were off). I hope this event won't hamper the legacy of these top groups. I honestly like the members, and its not the fault of superm at all. Its the money hungry corporation, SM's fault to the entirety. All these 3 groups were doing great. For US, they should have pushed NCT.
That was classic sarcastic T.O.P imo and as for Big Bang, they ended on a high and it should stay that way.mehat I would love is for solo work and unit work to come out. The tattoo shop has been DM’ing fans and saying things like Jungkook was drunk, this has been screen capped as evidence. They’ve actively been engaging with fans and non-fans on kkt and refused to follow advice. The tattoo shop has made everything more than it ever needed to be and BigHit has no responsibility to anyone but BTS, the tattoo shop is in no way entitled to help from BigHit. Also pictures from inside the tattoo shop were leaked, so let’s be real if BigHit has to do anything, it is to take legal action on the tattoo shop. SM disrespected their artists by doing this because this is straight up cheating. This isn’t just about ARMY or BTS, this is about them destabilising the little bit of legitimate reputation BTS had earned for K-pop and this is cheating other artists out rightful spots. The biggest cheating is SM making Korean fans buy from the US, any other fandoms fans could have done that but we all worked hard and within the rules, the fact SM did this and billboard accepted it, is disgusting.
The problem that is quiet alarming is not the just THE bundling. Like American artists (almost everyone) literally use bundles for their albums. But the thing is, it has been reported (article posted) that album purchases from outside the US is COUNTED in the chart which I know for a fact its not allowed because the BB200 is based for US demand ONLY. So the question is now, were they really including international shipping? Plus, the 60+ bundles. And the whole you buy merch, you get like 10 albums thing. It's not just bundling. You are literally giving away albums. (Sources articles online) And tbh, this will definitely hurt the image of kpop itself. The reputation of kpop artists as gimmicking to go on top will be marked onto other kpop artists that will follow in the future. P.S. Danny. You are not a hater. You are just both an anti and a fan which I admit is good cause I am like that too.
I think this is going to hurt Super M as a whole. They don’t have the recognition for this. There whole image is very disingenuous (Kpop in general is) that’s why these groups don’t do well in the US, by doing this it hurts there image and feeds into the fakeness. Also why people are side-eyeing this is because the content sucks; the lyrics are laughable. The 3 artists that you mentioned all needed the help and padding to sell their records, that shows that they were desperate and that hurts their integrity and image. I can’t even name a song from the one. Prince hadn’t had a selling/charting album in years. DJ Khalid was definitely desperate since people turned on him for oral sex “scandal”.
Why it always has to be always anyone vs anyone, like the toxic competitions of fandoms of each group, genre etc. Why people can't just live in peace and harmony. Like the global music market is evolving. Nowadays u don't have to be a English speaking artist from US or anywhere West to get recognised globally. And the major chunk of that comes of ofcourse by BTS as they paved the path for not just K-pop but other global artists as well. And above all the it is K-pop winning and it's talent and deserving winning so we should be proud of that.... We are basically in one of the most historical time for Music right now in general...!!!! ✌️
Everyone does bundling since there is a decline in the demand on physical albums, artist tend to sell out merch and concert tours which makes the album looks like a give away. And when you want to have a top spot , you’ll pull all the tricks because it all boils down to business. So for that Superm being under an American company Capitol Records, gives them an advantage because they know how to play the game. Bundling plus the multi version CD which most Kpop groups does is quite effective. The only question here is if it can be done like that then anybody could top the chart. They find a way to fool proof the system. Everyone plays but there is only one winner. The only thing clear here is that you can buy your way to the top. I’m not mad at the members of superm, I am more mad at their company. These guys are talented but in order to boost the name, the company had to pull a trick and forever will be tainted as the 60 bundle guys. Again it is not the guy’s fault, most artists from big companies like SM don’t even have the guts to say no or speak their mind which proves again another point of Kpop idols being a manufactured products and not seen as artists.
I feel so bad for the girl , jungkook’s tattoo artist , she is going through so much right now for absolutely no reason :((( and lol what does bighit mean by ‘it happened when he was on a holiday so we aren’t responsible’ ofc you are !! he is signed to your agency !! i hope they weren’t hard on jungkook because of this :( he even cut his hair :((( really hate those delusional fans man , all they do is hate and be delusional :/
Meoww Mowww I also feel bad for both Jungkook and the girl but I don’t think Jungkook is to blame. Whoever leaked the cctv or photos should take responsibility. And if this person also works at the tattoo shop, it is the shop’s responsibility.
Baby JK oh yes ofc im not blaming it on jungkook ! i could never !! he is completely innocent , and yes true but it could’ve been a stalker too , as the pics were taken in a restaurant and the tattoo shop pics were sooooo blurry , but i really don’t think it was the girl , and people are being endlessly cruel towards her :( for her appearance and what not , which is just not right :(
I already forgot about the leaked cctv story. The tatoo shop should have ignored crazy people, blocked them and stopped feeding them, and of course sue those who cross the line. They fueled things even worse, I guess. BTS achievements are unrivaled because lots of people love their music and have worked hard to hear this music in their countries. That's called demand and interest. I would really apreciate it if newslets which mention them in association with other kpop groups reminded the readers about this fact as well. Anyways, SuperM #1 will be remembered as merch-driven #1 and they will be critisized like any other western artist doing the same thing
60+ bundles, “buy now, pay later”, constant tweets asking to buy the album, 8 versions of the album, and 4 fandoms coming together is desperate, but it’s not that deep. However, international sales counting towards Billboard is almost unethical and that’s what actually bugs us. Almost no integrity.
Well superms fandom is actually three fandoms, so im not suprised they sold alot of albums but superm just feels so inorganic to me i cant help but be turned off from them bc of that.
@@Donna_Darko I doubt it And it was because of the bundles not bc of the music you cant honestly think that jopping was good ... But am not worried BTS comeback is soon

why bring others down, let the groups who top charts top becuz u won't keep them from doing so, superm didn't do anything wrong it is a marketing tactic and it is pretty common; don't spread hate you can really hurt them and you might be responsible for the death of someone from the group so stop

Everyone can play around so let them . right but billboard weights physical album sales heavier than streams so i don't know how much #2 got in physical album sales but its likely why super m was at #1. Like he said. WHO CARES!

But the news of the #1 did bump SM stock up 3k won so there's that for them
@@krnboy18 thank you for the information!
Is this you guys meaning of the new face of kpop in america and avengers of kpop...Wowwww
6th week in Billboard 200, 6th week No. 1 World Digital Album, sold out concert Madison Square Garden
We do have to talk about it so that Billboard and other institutions make changes, like Grammys. “Gaming” the system shouldn’t be acceptable and ignored based on exactly what you wrote about, very well said.
The amount of bundle sales they use was ridiculous; 60 bundles..

actually, going by the rules (when the other artists who follow the same rules are pissed at superm) doesn't make it acceptable.
example: criminals are condemned by the public and the law, but they are legally innocent because of the law. they played the law, similar to how superm (SM) played the rules. the telltale sign is when other artists are pissed, it shows that you did something that is against the rules (but technically not against the rules).
"it's been like that ... get used to it people." so to paraphrase, "corruption (in any field of your choice) has been like that ... get used to it people."
no... crime exists with order, but we have to keep fighting crime to maintain the balance. corruption is the same. you don't simply stop fighting against corruption, because then u can't maintain the balance. another questionable life lesson from Danny...

@@LC-in2ft if this was marketing tactic, sorry but it was a bad one. They are great artists but the huge ego of SM ent. make them do this. One thing is to obtain an album with a concert ticket but with stickers, buttons?? . They as artist deserved better.
Well to me it is not like fans don't know what they buy when they bought the merch so why would people invalidate they achievement?

@@leehoo9783 I can link you to this for some insight on BTS and why they're considered as 'artists' specifically
Of course these companies want to make money, but there's a difference between the extent each company takes this to, I would say SM would be at one end of manufactured for money and Bighit on the opposite end.
I live for Danny whispering “boys interact” during quack back lol
That would be the nice thing to do.

curvytangerine oh no I care so much about a group getting number 1 is the most lowest way. This act is definitely a shame for Kpop ruining Kpop’s dignity thank goodness we got our Independence Day from kpop we BTSPOP now we don’t bout y’all kpopies now. Anyway MERCH IS NOT MUSIC.
Enya Estrellado stfu looser ass bitch
I don’t care that SM advertised the crap out of them and though I don’t see bundling as legitimate sale numbers, it’s not different from what other western artists are currently doing too. Where my problem lies is that they only made these albums available in the US to purposely influence an American chart where majority Americans did not buy and don’t know who they are.
The chart is not meant to reflect international purchases just like gaon isn’t meant to reflect western purchases.
David beckam has been a star for so many years. He's not going to care that an event ran 20 minutes late.
Beckham probably doesn't but the *journalists and media people* certainly cared since they have other events to go to and they are the last people that you want to piss off so respecting their time and being punctual is an important thing to consider as well
@@anisahs2110 I disagree.
I think journalists are terrible people and their actions after BP were late proved that.
They deserve nothing but contempt.
It's SHINee not SuperJunior.... 💀
@@kidcaptainwembri I am soooo sorry .. I wrote it so fast so uggghhhh
@@wernerheisenberg9138 No worries, it's all good 👍
Agreed, after NCT’s very successful world tour more success is bound to come! Sm is too greedy to care for their artist 🤧
(Sources articles online)
And tbh, this will definitely hurt the image of kpop itself.
YES LEGITIMACY OF BILLBOARD IS NOT SO SACRED
Why is it BTS vs SuperM? Why can't it be Kpop vs the American music market. Join forces!
People that don't watch soccer know who David Beckham is.
Football
@@tatalala8301 In America, we call it soccer. It's no disrespect to the international football fans.
@@LindaMitchell ohhh
Same.. Never watched him play.. But I know who he is.
Vice versa people who never are into kpop probably doesn't know who bp is.
It only mean 1 thing , BTS is so legit🥰
Why can't people just leave T.O.P. alone??!?!?!?! Just let the poor man live.
No kidding, he has already attempted suicide once. They push idols to the edge and then act surprised when they take their lives 😢
Agreed 👏
The tatoo shop should have ignored crazy people, blocked them
and stopped feeding them, and of course sue those who cross the line.
Almost no integrity.
you said it all. *virtual vigorous applause*
Well superms fandom is actually three fandoms, so im not suprised they sold alot of albums but superm just feels so inorganic to me i cant help but be turned off from them bc of that.
They didnt sell alot of albums... they bundle it with iteams...
The physical CDs were top 5 bestselling in many stores
@@Donna_Darko I doubt it
And it was because of the bundles not bc of the music you cant honestly think that jopping was good ...
But am not worried
BTS comeback is soon
"time to be an army now.. " - Danny 😂😂😂
