King of the Monsters is my favorite Monsterverse movie just for the cinematography alone. That scene where Mothra is reborn from her cocoon and sprouts her wings is visually incredible
King of the Monsters was probably my favorite MV film. It introduced me to Godzilla as a whole (I didn’t really know what Godzilla was before) and was amazing to see Godzilla fighting Ghidorah. Plus, THE MUSIC
I agree and then we get the trash in gxk where they literally just say fuck all the ground work they built in kotm, just to shoehorn her in so she could be spiderman for 5 seconds webbing bad guys. Shit was horrible as for as story and character development( cus the titans are the main characters in these movies) but also just in cinematography it's trash I mean it didn't even look good too me
when can all agree when Godzilla stepped in the airport scene it went quiet that was pure beauty

They missed the target big time by not putting more emphasis on making Skar King more of a threat. I really liked / loved the movie. But it would have been even better had the capitalized off the initial intrigue and fascination EVERYONE had when we got the 1st teaser with Skar King looking evil and powerful sitting on his throne looking bad ass. In the end, he easily got bodied by Kong and Goji. They should have had him give them both a beat down separately and put up more of a fight against both of them. But I still really liked the movie overall. Had some good, epic and hilarious spots

I have to disagree with u on KOTM. It's still the best one of the bunch. Honestly, none of the bad Jokes really bug me at all. I'm just able to shrug them off and enjoy the movie

-The reason I positioned GVK in the top spot is because of its visually stunning elements, the excellent choice of location like Hong Kong, and the introduction of Hollow Earth. epic MechaG showdown. The most epic battle scenes.💯💯
-The reason I put "King of the Monsters" in the second spot is because of how cinematic it is and how awesome King Ghidorah is in every scene. Ghidorah roar sounds is the best until now, and Ghidorah really feels like a terrifying titan.
-Skull Island ok story and good CGI, Epic Battle.
-For GxK New empire, I didn't quite like it because everything felt rushed, and the ending wasn't as epic as I hoped.
- Godzilla 2014 felt too slow and clichéd, except for the San Francisco bridge scene when godzilla arrives it is feel so good and iconic. And they killed off Bryan Lee Cranston so quickly which huge disappointing

In my order from best to worst 1( King of Monsters), 2) Kong Skull Island, 3) Godzilla x Kong, 4( Godzilla 2014, 5) Godzilla vs Kong, 6) Monarch (I'll explain), and last place 7) Skull Island Series (just boring). I didn't like Monarch the Series because it IGNORED so much established mythology set forth in the movies and the OFFICIAL graphic novels that is just set me off, not to mention I just couldn't like the modern day human characters; the flash back characters were ok, but I just found the series disappointing.
I also agree with this ranking. 👌

The only problem i ever had with 2014 to be in my S teir with likes of Godzilla 1985 or 1954 was its was way to dark to the point i cant actually see anything on the screen
I'd like it if DangerVille and Goji Center would make some videos focusing on Mothra in the near future.
KOTM is the best version of what godzilla is in the monsterverse and with a good feel of old godzilla with mothra, rodan and Ghidorah with the music of bear mcreary gave it a feel of primal times wit crowds chanting the music for the kaijus to win
but was put down with the cast which could have been better
Look I'm just happy the MV is still going strong (a lot of other cinematic universe's seem to be falling a part).
I love the weight of Godzilla too, I mean the wait of the damn monsters to show up.

One of the biggest factors is the monsters do not feel gargantuan sized anymore. The camera angles and the speed that they move in makes them feel like humansized most of the time. I'll put new empire over the last movie simply due to Kongs pocket sand moment and Godzilla suplexing Kong like its WWE.
Yep exactly my thoughts. Although New Empire was an improvement from Godzilla vs Kong, it's impossible to take these threats seriously when the monsters are delivering wwe moves half the time with people cheering. There is so much mindlessnes in Adam's movies.

kotm and 2014 understood the size. plus the world ending + destruction of kaiju. the human stories also reflected on this as these things do harm. I prefer the more serious types than cheesy giant beatings.
however all kaiju movies are better than no kaiju movies. I understand when a good fun cheesy movie is needed.

I complained about Godzilla 2014‘s main character in another comment, but the one that really disappoints me is Godzilla King of the Monsters. I love Rodan, I love King Ghidorah, and I love Mothra’s role and lore. I love Michael Dougherty’s Trick ‘r Treat, and I liked Krampus a lot. He’s a HUGE G-fan! I thought “how could this miss?”, but man… the dialogue and jokes are so bad at times. The gonorrhea joke, the fortune cookie line, “God…Zillaaa”, “So they got somethin’ going on? That’s kinda messed up”, and a few more I can’t think of right now. The Orca storyline felt weird to me. Kyle Chandler’s performance was just weird half the time, and I really like him in most things. He was great in King Kong & Game Night. Madison Russell didn’t do much for me, and her going along with her mom’s dumbest plan in history! Emma Russell joined a psycho terrorist, and knowingly led them in to kill all of her coworkers. The Oxygen Destroyer came out of nowhere. Even Godzilla’s pulse killing Ghidorah and then picking the head up by the neck, just didn’t feel badass like the kills in G2014, KongSI, GvsK, & GxK. The monster stuff is just so good most of the time, a lot of the jokes land for me, and I like almost all the characters most of the time. It’s just such a mixed bag, when I expected much more. I wish we could see what Garreth’s G2 would have looked like. Though, I wouldn’t change anything, bc it led to the awesome Godzilla Kong movies.
Bill randa was the only human i cared about i didnt care about the others and was rooting for them to get kaiju'd except randa and the cast of characters for the flashbacks to his youth were good too. The prentending to pick jacobs nose bit was funny al😄

Overall, the MonsterVerse has been a mostly great experience, and I’ve enjoyed the movies so far (even with my criticisms). It is a great time to be a Godzilla fan, and kaiju fan in general. Can’t wait to see a tier list on the reiwa era.

It wasn't just the rio fight that was rushed in GxK, if you pay attention to the 0 gravity fight it was actually even shorter than the Rio fight. We saw kong punch skar king twice, and skar kick kong once. And that's it. It's unbelievable to me how this movie is getting so much praise when the whole thing just felt so rushed.
THANK YOU. Also, I hate how useless Monarch feels. In literally every single film, they need outside help to do their own job. Like, aren't they a government funded secret organization whose sole purpose is the study and containment of the titans? WHY DO THEY ALWAYS NEED HELP FROM CIVILIANS?????

It's very likely monarch is underfunded, most of their money goes towards equipment.
Godzilla x Kong the new empire movie is meant to be in 4DX and my experience was excellent and seat just bounce around it’s awesome.
I saw it in Super EMX with a screen that's almost as big as a basketball court and a 300 speaker surround sound. No other movie will be the same now!
I would like to see them give Godzilla the open/close tail fin that Titanosaurus had in the Terror of Mechagodzilla. It's a great design, and Titanosaurus isn't coming back. It would better explain Godzilla's aquatic nature.
I think the anime series are also a good addition to the whole, even if they are their own thing. I just enjoyed them too much.

Is it possible some of the cheesiness in the movies is them embracing and playing on the B ratings of the Showa Era and Heisei Era? Which is part of the Kaiju Genre. And I can appreciate every Godzilla movie in some way.

Each movie goes in S tier for me.
Skull Island the series goes into A tier.
Legacy of Monsters goes into B tier because of the most boring modern humans yet and lack of monsters and monster action.

The fights are still the best choeographed fights in the Monsterverse and it doesn't suffer from pacing issues like GxK does

I just don't get why Skull Island isn't liked. Objectively they had the best cast of characters and was bay far the most Balanced MV film between the human story and monster fights.

2014 is also S-tier for me.
KotM and GxK are A-tier. Kong: Skull Island and GvK are B-tier. Monarch is C-tier (it'd be A-tier if it was just the flashbacks). Didn't watch the anime.
Kong: Skull Island is really great for filming on real locations.
KotM was excellent for focusing a lot on Godzilla and the lore. Saw it in IMAX with my kids, good time had by all.
GvK is a good time. I just wish there was more story and lore to it, coz a lot got cut.

@@Unknown45270 For me Kong skull Island is the most beautiful cinematography wise, choreography wise, very beautiful balanced human and monster story, not for a single second I was bored in that movie and I have seen that movie multiple times and especially the sound design when Kong was revealed was so epic, very beautiful and engaging movie for me, Godzilla 2014 was boring sometimes and it was too dark to with little screentime of Godzilla

GVK and GXK are fun movies to watch but the story is so slopy
My list would go like this:
S: Kong: Skull Island (2017)
Reason: The amazing and dangerous diversity of life found across the island. It brings an unnerving, ominous, but spectacular atmosphere
A: Godzilla (2014)
Reasons: I am a Godzilla fan and I hate that it couldn’t top Skull Island. Back then, I was so hyped to see a modern Godzilla movie after for so long being hyped by its teasers. The problems with the film, according to the public, there isn’t enough screentime for the monsters and it is too dark. I understand that, but I find it more realistic and ominous when it is dark and when all the city lights are off after everyone evacuated.
B: Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2017) and Godzilla Vs Kong (2021)
Reasons: Both are fantastic in terms of action scenes and having the familiar Toho monsters. All of Rodan’s scenes are my number one favorites. It’s problems are the human actors: Their development and their cringe dialogue.
D: Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire
Reasons: The worst of the bunch. Too rushed, too excessive, and too annoying. The VFX can look very bad at times, but some shots do look great. Just another generic plot line, seemed like the MonsterVerse version of Planet of the Apes, and Godzilla is not even important for the movie. It’s a Kong-only movie. I can go on with how terribly flawed this film was, but I’m gonna stop my rambling here.
King of the Monsters is so underrated.
-Best soundtrack of all MV films
-Best kaiju fights
-Best human story (Monarch + militray = win)
-Best visuals - stormy weather, world ending environments, destruction, globetrotting, beautiful visual moments like mothra
Best human story??? Dawg the humans were the absolute WORST in this film. Terrible. You could debate about best kaiju fight, but for me Godzilla x Kong and Godzilla vs Kong easily beat it there.
@@Supl3xcityI won’t argue against the human characters, I can see why people would hate them. But I disagree with GvK having better fights than KotM.
They’re fun and colorful I won’t lie, but the climax I would argue is inferior to KotM. In KotM Gidorah was built up throughout the film as a dominating, all powerful being, that takes control of the other monsters. In addition he’s the perfect antagonist in the film.
In the Monsterverse, Godzilla represents a force of nature and equilibrium; meanwhile Gidorah represents destruction and disorder. So watching the climax for the first time, I was on the edge of my seat.
In GvK Mechagodzilla not only doesn’t come out until the third act. But the only reason he’s there, is to give Godzilla and Kong a reason to work together which we were expecting to happen anyways.
GKotM is DEFINITELY not a perfect film. The human characters are a little flat, the pacing could’ve been slower, and the movie is a little messy. But it’s far from a bad film in my opinion, of all the crappy fan-service movies I watched I enjoyed KotM the most.
I don’t want to start any arguments, I just wanted to share my opinion.
Godzilla x Kong the new empire was S tier solidified to me it was the best movie legendary made ever.

5: GxK (The absolute worst, imo. It's so disconnected from the rest of the franchise film to the point it's genuinely frustrating to think about. Never let Adam cook when it comes to this franchise.)
Gxk is great (my opinion) but it’s not disconnected it’s just you have to look a little harder to connect it

Both Monsterverse Tv shows are my favourite series.
Why is it that there is a fandom war right now? I mean, before we only had one movie at a time with either serious Godzilla or fun Godzilla. Now we can have both and they’re both good. Why can’t we just like both? This is the best time to be a G-fan, if you let it be by not crapping on whichever tone you deem as lesser.
It's just in their nature to be like that. They'll argue over anything whether it be how a Godzilla films should be or even how other monsters compare to Godzilla (some even to such extremes that they damage the community).
The key is to ignore them and stick to what you love

Heres the real tier list:

1- Godzilla King of the Monsters (2019)
It brought all the classic toho kaijus to life, it had the perfect balance of human and Kaiju screen time, the lore and atmosphere was 10/10, the music was 10/10 and was just visually beautiful.
[Honestly my favorite monster verse Movie so far]
2- Godzilla x Kong
I loved that it focused more on the Kaijus and the action and I’m also glad they brought back Mothra but I wish we got to see more of the classic kaijus too like Rodan and Angirus.. also where’s the badass KOTM music 😢
3- Godzilla vs Kong
It was a great idea putting them against each other, the fight was amazing and Mecha Godzilla appearing was a nice surprise.
4- Godzilla (2014)
It was a great introduction to the monster verse, the final battle was badass and I liked the twist that Godzilla was actually the protagonist in this movie which is something I really liked.
5- Monarch Legacy
Loved the world building, twists and mystery but I wish we got more Kaiju action.
6- Kong Skull island
Generally was a good movie but my favorite thing about it was the after credit scene 🤣
I can't rank them. They're each in their own style. Some people didn't like GxK, and that's cool. Not everyone enjoys the same things.
Ranking them is is just clickbait. Up until 2013 NOBODY thought we would ever see a Hollywood made proper Godzilla movie.
NOBODY thought we get another one with the crown jewels of Toho Ghidorah, Rodan and Mothra in a high budget Hollywood created movie.
Then a Hollywood made rematch of Godzilla vs. Kong. A Hollywood made Godzilla vs Kong teaming up against MECHAGODZILLA/MECHAGHIDORAH HYBRID!!

Followed by a fun throwback to the Showa Era Godzilla and Kong including MOTHRA! A movie audiences are loving. Kids love the movie. A new generation of Godzilla fans. Making bank, which means we get to keep the Monsterverse going.
We have comic books, crossovers with Justice League. A live action Monsterverse series focused on Monarch, Godzilla and Kong. Monsterverse figures selling incredibly well. Video game crossovers.
So, no offense. Fu*k the whole ranking ridiculousness. We're eating good as Godzilla fans. NOTHING can outrank all of that.

1.Godzilla vs Kong - The greatest characterization of Kong ever and the best Kaiju fights since Pacific Rim
2.Kong: Skull Island - The best CG of the franchise and so much more
3.Godzilla - Great tension and great atmosphere put into a generic Family story
4.Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire - Too fast paced to give room for any top tier Kaiju fights. Also separating Jia and Kong for most of it was a mistake
5.Monarch: Legacy of Monsters - A strong opening and ending with a weak middle.
6.Godzilla: King of the Monsters: The visuals where never this great and the humans never this boring.

1 - King of the Monsters
This is the movie that really got me engaged with the monsterverse. I'd seen the other movies, but this one really made me care. It had truly awesome moments like Godzilla vs Ghidorah which was just amazing. So many good monsters dropped into the mix and I only hated the villains among the human cast. Which I feel is appropriate.
2 - Godzilla vs Kong
This one handled the characters pretty well. I liked really treating Kong as the underdog protagonist of this movie. And it really established how terrifying it is having Godzilla coming after you. Their fights were intense and kind of frightening since Godzilla was definitely the stronger one and it was full of risk. Mecha Godzilla was a good unifying threat.
3 - Kong: Skull Island
It was nice to have a movie that focused just on Kong and really established him in this monsterverse. It definitely had the strongest cast out of any of these movies.
4 - Godzilla x Kong
This was plenty fun. I didn't know what to expect going in and mostly kept myself out of spoilers. It was just a good time. It was a bit too bad that Kong didn't interact as much as I would have liked with the human cast. And Godzilla was mostly doing stuff in the background during this one. But it had great moments like that first encounter between Kong and Skar King
5 - Godzilla 2014
Yes, I will actually put it down this far. It's the movie I had the least amount of fun watching in theaters. It wasn't bad and did some things well. There was a good sense of scale with the creatures and the finale was good. But by the point they were cutting away from the action one too many times I was just getting annoyed. I'm sorry, but following around cardboard Ford for all that time was too much. And Serikawa could shove the "let them fight" bit in a movie where they wouldn't let them fight or let us see it!

Im not really interested in seeing in GxK to be honest, it just doesn't seem like my thing. I much prefer the more grounded and serious films.

A - GxK and Skull Island. Not sure on the order. Skull Island has the best combination of story and monster action. Story still has issues but it's Tolstoy compared to most of the MV. GxK has a smarter script than people give it credit for. Yes, it is silly, but it's plot issues seem deliberate in service of given the fans what they want to see. The story is simple but it works, and streamlining the cast helps a lot. The monster action is top notch.
B - GvK and 2014. Probably the worst script with the best monster fights. Changes up Hollow Earth (again) and Skull Island (off screen). I get the complaints about 2014 but I loved the pov approach to filmmaking and how Edwards held Godzilla back and teased him.I really liked the Mutos and the final battle, but damn ATJ was utterly lacking in charisma.
C - KOTM and TV Land. KOTM has the best monsters, best score, and maybe the best visuals. Ask me which film can pull out the 10 best short clips, and it could be KOTM. Bonus points for old school monsters but take 'em off for utterly wasting Mothra. Hollow Earth warp pipe never worked for me. Too much action was obscured in rain and dark Monarch? Liked it more than I didn't. 50's was golden. May was shoehorned in and had nothing to do much of the time. The characters of Cate and Kentaro seemed to change with each episode. The 50s stuff was generally dyamite, but the modern stuff was inconsistent. Skull Island - Would have been better if it was cut down to 6 episodes.

Going back to see GxK which I think for me is tied with GvK for different reason. The music for one was great, the stupid humans were a waste of casting money the other BUT I used that stupid MillyVanillyBrown ScoobyDoo Mystery van tactic of hey, what is this, lets jump in it and find out method this weekend taking my wife and grandkids down to the eclipse AND I was almost awesome. Only almost because after announcing to the crowd after totality "First car to the highway wins!" I didn't take my family into the theater and watch GxK which had a showing in 10 minutes to spend the time there. NO, instead I listened to my wife (I know, what was I thinking) and we spent 4 hours to actually get stay consistently 5.5 hours away from home, with the exception where that went to 5.75. Could have watched the movie, driven two hours, had supper, and the rest of the traffic jam would have been dispersed ahead of me. She just wouldn't listen to brilliance though my driving past Russelville, AR almost empty theater parking lot and doing a uturn had her almost worshipping my brilliance. 20 bucks to park the whole day, theater was open for bathrooms and concessions and of course, the movie schedual if I wanted to by the much cheaper then my home Metropolitian areas tickets. SO maybe I'll cut the MVBSD Mystery Machine mayhem form GvK a little slack but only because I got better looking granddaughters that don't have a natural Posh accent. friggin imposter. So, I'm going closer to Jacobs listings.

My biggest issues with the last movie is Scar King sucks as a villain. Yeah his presence is entertaining but he’s super weak. He can’t beat Kong or Godzilla one on one and he’s supposed to be the most dangerous enemy they faced? The trailers lied I never heard any comment about them be afraid of what was coming. And Shimo instead of making her a beast you turned her into a sympathetic character , oh she’s controlled through pain let’s feel bad for her. The action is great but the full execution was bad

I have nothing against Godzilla the 2014 I really love I rank it low just for the fact there’s not a lot of Godzilla king of the monsters is the weakest in my opinion I do like it but it just felt less as good as the first film so here’s hoping they do Godzilla 3 different. Now as for shows

Now Skull Island isn’t bad in my opinion I just think there’s a lot to be desired that just didn’t do well with this show so if they do season 2 I hope they fix that a bit. Now original GVK was my favourite of the Monsterverse film with Kong Skull Island my 2nd and Godzilla being 3rd but since GXK after seeing it 4 times and how emotional and silly at times was a treat and seeing Godzilla and Kong team up my 2 favourite Kaiju’s in the world made me love it a lot so that’s my Tier list

My favorite personally was KOTM, but i know its not perfect so I put it in A tier. It has the best backgroud story explaining the monsters, the best monsters so far, Ghidorah is still the best villain so far in my opinion. Mothras sacrifice, making godzilla go thermonuclear to his ultimate form, along with the music was just the best. The stakes in this movie were still the highest out of any movie, even GxK. The movie just lacked in how the humans were written in. But to me its still my favorite because i feel im able to push the human story aside and know that they were just there to say what the monsters couldn't. This is the film that had me at the edge of my seat when i knew godzilla was coming for Ghidorah in their first fight and especially the final fight.

There hasn't been anything good to say about Junkie XL as a movie soundtrack guy. I'm not even gonna call any of his work in the Monsterverse and DCU a music score of any kind, nor he a composer. Idk why movie studios continue to hire this guy. He must be payed like 500 bucks or something just to put some licensed music in movies and pre-made scores.
With that rant over, GxK was such a great ride of movie cinema. As a whole, I think it's better than GvK but Godzilla seriously needs his theme back in the Monsterverse and Kong deserves a kick ass theme too! Because of the music and sounds alone, KotM is my favorite of the Monsterverse. And I forgive the gonorohhea joke too for the music. 🤦♂️

Man… I love most of Godzilla 2014, but to me, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is one of the worst leading men of all time. Being a really good leading man makes for incredible films. Kurt Russell in the 80s comes to mind. Also, taking a big swing and ending up a really bad leading man can be vastly entertaining and hilarious. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is neither. He is the worst kind of leading man, impossibly boring. He’s a plank of wood, and somehow we’re supposed to think he’s Bryan Cranston’s son?!? Garreth Edwards is so good at so many things, but the performances he gets out of actors are pretty dry a lot of the time. A few shined through in Rogue One, bc of their own personalities and acting ability. Same with Cranston. But, to be fair, with the way Ford was written, and the actor portraying him (at his 2014 acting ability), I don’t think the best actor director on Earth could have made that character seem charismatic or charming. It doesn’t ruin the movie for me, by any means, but it does hold it back from true greatness. You have to be a really bland lead to hold back the king of the monsters.

Haven't seen the rest, but quality wise and their impact, that is my ranking.
Decent list, but kinda shocked the terrible Godzilla 2014 is in your S tier, yet its also non Godzilla having brother, the terrible Monarch series ISNT in your S tier. Seems like if the humans was your most important thing about the Godzilla franchise, Monarch would have scored higher, seeing the main draw wasn't hilariously killed off in the first act, but hey, its your list do as you please my guy : )

Godzilla KOTM is the best from a monster fighting and spectacle perspective. Godzilla 2014 best overalll in terms of movie. All others were meh but still fun……..understand that people enjoy the wacky style and nonsense more, but kinda sad, as a life long Godzilla fan, in the direction it went because it now reminds me of marvel and fast and furious movies. Which I lost interest in because they became unbelievable and not relatable.
