One thing they missed: the Omega Sector was a call back to Heston's earlier movie, The Omega Man!
$100,000 to rent harriers for a movie? Sounds like an insane bargain to me.
That was back when the American dollar still had some value, before the federal money printer went brrrr, and before the US default rating was downgraded from AAA to AA+.
*_TRUST !!_*
In the mid 1990s, that was quite a bit more than it sounds like today!
It's stuff like that we go to Arnold Schwarzenegger movies for, and "True Lies" has a lot of it: Laugh-out-loud moments when the violence is so cartoonish we don't take it seriously, and yet are amazed at its inventiveness and audacity. Schwarzenegger has found himself in a lot of unlikely situations in his action-packed career, and "True Lies" seems determined to raise the ante - to go over the top with outlandish and extravagant special effects scenes.
Sorry, but you’re wrong . Jamie Lee Curtis while dancing for Arnold did fall and it was indeed planned and part of the script. They even discuss it during the making of the movie, because JLC said she didn’t want to fall more than twice while wearing heels because she could easily twist her ankle. Fact!
There's a lot more hype than that in this video. She didn't do the stunt where Arnold pulled her out of the car and into the choppah, either. They wired her up and got a shot of her flying over the bridge for the close-up. The rest was her stunt double and Arnold's.
You're right. Cameron thought the dance was too serious, and put the fall in to lighten it up. It's amazing he became the main comedy writer so effectively in the film, as it's among the best I have ever seen.
Jamie Lee looked her hottest in this movie.
100% truth...
Jamie Lee Curtis may not be the prettiest girl in the world but she has a great body on her.
I guess you haven’t seen Trading places!
Can't stand her!
how to use two audio I era that have say 16 channels and combine the two with one for the left channel and one for the right channel so that you end up with a total of a total of a 32 channel mixer. Is this possible?
Tom Arnold was fantastic in that role and I just can’t picture the roll being played by any other actor. And Jamie Leigh Curtis was very sexy in the dance scene. As for Schwarzenegger, without Tom Arnold I don’t think the humor would have worked as well. 15:32 “I remember the first time I got shot out of a canon ! And when Harry (Schwarzenegger) was guessing what the nuke was…A Hot water heater?, No,I know it’s a snow cone machine, No wait, it’s an espresso maker? Great film, perfect casting!!
That Curtis dance was spectacular. She chose the music herself, and credits Cameron for it looking so great! It certainly blew me away back then, I can tell you!
I loved Bill Paxton…RIP❤
When I first watched True Lies, I HATED it. Particularly the gun bouncing down the stairs, firing, and taking out the bad guys. Talking with a buddy, he said think of it more as a spoof and not as a true action move. So, I watched it again with that in mind and I really liked it. I love the part with the truth serum when she asks if they are going to die.
Like a cartoon with Bugs sticking his finger in the end of a gun.
Wish we could have gotten a sequel 😕
GREAT narration and storytelling! Love this channel...if I didn't know better, this voice-over narrator could double for William Friedkin! 👍
It's a bot. Please tell me you were being sardonic.
If this narration is from a "Bot"...it's surely the BEST one I've ever heard
The smash 1994 spy comedy gets a small-screen adaptation with Steve Howey stepping in for Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ginger Gonzaga taking the Jamie Lee Curtis role.
True Lies went on to gross $146,282,411 in the United States and Canada and $232,600,000 in the rest of world, totaling $378,882,411 worldwide
I'm surprised it was that low. Such a well done work deserved more in my opinion.
The problem with claiming a movie stereotypes an entire people is that it is only showing one aspect of that group, the aspect that fits the movie. True Lies isn't trying to depict all Middle-Eastern peoples as terrorists, it is showing a group that are terrorists, and that group does exist, even in non-Middle Eastern peoples. Are all Americans portrayed by the Americans in the movie? Are all Asians portrayed by the character played by Tia Carrere?
True Lies was a fantastic action-comedy, nothing more.
in all non Hollywood movies....we Americans, likely stereotyped as taking over the world...Japanese would have us eating babies...of course they are " woke " yet...lol...
20:05 Loved this movie. And loved the sega game too, quite challenging, but fun!
To me, this is my favorite movie. There was so many unexpected seems. That I was all eyeballs. My mouth stay open with owe. The bodies chemistry was great. And very, very funny fully of mystery and suspense. Great movie I enjoyed watching it. I was again all eyeballs with my mouth open and laughed. You just didn't know what to expect next. It was all a big surprise. The movie was a big surprise and very, very funny. To me this is the number #1 movie every. And I have watched a lots of good movies. But this movie was a great big gift, present, surprise. Thank for making this movie. The people at the movie theater was full. All the people there enjoyed watching it.
Now you know what Michael Myers was really after.
LMAO!! Right?
Money -
I didn't see any baths or chairs for people to rest in in that room. It looked more like a public toilet than a rest room or bathroom to me!!! 😮🤣
Every time I see a urinal I think about the True Lies bathroom fight, the stuntman getting his head smashed into it, and that they did this with a foam-rubber duplicate urinal.
how many guys went to the DARK SIDE by themselves over this
I’ve been by the old 7 mile bridge off Marathon key many times. I noticed the burn marks on the bridge, but couldn’t figure out why because I had not seen the movie yet. I also stumbled on the fishing village set at mile marker 17, again, no idea why such a thing was in the middle of nowhere. It all made sense when I saw the movie.
I saw this movie in the theatre when it first came out. When Tom arnold first appeared the audience booed. By the middle of the film they were cheering him.
Here's another funny line: Arnold was asking Tom for the missing page. Tom says: "That's gotta be a typo. Arnold demands Tom to give the page, saying: "Gimme the goddamn page!" (while breaking the car's window glass with his fist just inches away from Tom's face). Tom reveals the missing page hidden from his suit, and submits with: "Okay".
"True Lies" one of the best movies ever with the best actors nobody else could of done their replacements.
One thing that bugged me was with Charston Heston at the app 10:38 time slot of the short video above, Heston wearing the eye patch over his left eye, at 11:00 time slot of short time duration the eye patch was now covering Heston's right eye. Is it just me looking at details looking to see different set and people differences within seconds later of filming goofs?.....Yes Jamie was hot looking, what a team working together with Armold, I never forgot that fall with the pole, it was priceless as well Arnolds reaction...Now I must watch that movie again and laugh making a better day for me.....~~=o&o>......
I saw the patch thing too, it keeps swapping.
I’ve always wanted a sequel, loved this movie and it continues to make me laugh
Oh. So some people objected to the idea that Arabs could be terrorists eh.
Of the nineteen 9/11 hijackers, one was Egyptian, one was Lebanese, two were from the United *Arab* Emirates, and *FIFTEEN* were *Saudi Arabians.*
I'd say "True Lies" was rather predictive on that score.
I loved the movie. It was so perfectly made
There is nothing like a true pro, JLC is well respected in the UK, l know of many children who now carry her name, Jamie Lee is written in the stars here in the UK !!!
JAIME (THE BODY) LEIGH CURTIS.....❤❤
I thought that Arnold was terrible in the tango scenes. The women had to carry the scene while he just walked.
I'll never, ever, never understand those who find Jamie Lee Curtis attractive.
Yea why?
After watching this I was wondering if anyone else noticed that the Heston character's eye patch was moved from the left eye to the right eye then back to the left eye.
It sure was distracting!
it a remake of a French movie. 1991 French film La Totale!. True Lies is in 1994.
They forgot one prediction 14:30 hehe The game is not lost I have the game on my shelf
Glad they scaled back so Tom Cruise could do nit in his film....
Never saw this
Who is that narrating? I know the voice but I just can’t place it and it’s driving me crazy!?
It's a bot. Not a real human. Sorry to disappoint.
@@davidanderson_surrey_bc At least now I know where I heard it before…narrating other documentaries! Not disappointed, not even surprised, you can’t trust nuthin’ nowadays!
10:58 the patch is on the right eye 11:20 the patch is on the left eye WTF? 11:23 it goes back to the right.
I think sometimes the people who make such videos deliberately or accidentally reverse the clip angle. It's not a movie blooper.
Don't believe it! @ 1:13 that slip was obviously acted. Notice how when she let go of the bed post, her arm flails overly dramatically, swinging high up and over. Had this been a real slip, she would have reflexively brought her arm down in attempt to help break her fall.
I know that this part of the scene has long been purported as a "blooper" but it is obviously acted for comedic effect - just as Arnie dropped his voice thingy. These "accidents" were done on purpose.
Did she plan to fall or not?
Arab community condemns their stereotypical portrayal, then years later act out that exact stereotype. Of course I know that it is a very small sect of that population, but when the effect is as dramatic and publicized as 9/11 was, it is hard to think any other way.
In between the action packed first and third acts, however, is a curious second act in which Schwarzenegger becomes convinced that his wife is fooling around with a car salesman
Bill Paxton was brilliant as a gutless and cowardly scumbag.
Interesting. But is it necessary to explain who played who every 3rd sentence?!?!?!?!?
Apparently yes, because that's how bot narration works.
@@davidanderson_surrey_bc Even bots get a text written by a human.
How could dancing be rough on ‘Arnie’? I mean, the man is so tough he can rip off car doors with his eyelids!
I’ll bet you Cameron did rewrite parts of the script; I’ll also bet you he didn’t write this mega-cornball video narration. A panel of literary experts couldn’t fit any more, over-the-top, adjectives into the narrator’s voice-over if their lives depended on it.
By the way, directors messing around with the final shooting scripts is extremely common; not some kind of shocking miracle this voice-over would have you believe.
Take out the double and triple-barrelled adjectives and the running time of 23:50 could have been slashed to 10 minutes. Films and videos are, of course, all about visuals.
Why are so many people afraid of letting the pictures tell the story and leave a little silence so the audience can take in and marvel at the on-screen action? It’s OK to have short periods of silence instead of distracting viewers with non-stop ‘machine-gun’ talking.
Think I’m over reacting? No.
Just have a quick read of the transcript and the complex, often ridiculous, multiple exaggerations become staggeringly obvious. Nobody, especially ‘Arnie’, has a “daunting” 6 months of learning how to Tango; it’s a dance; it’s not parachuting into a ‘hot’ war zone; it’s not stunt work.
Around 11 minutes was enough for me. I’d rather be tied to a speaker at a ‘Grateful Dead’ concert than listen to one more second of this ludicrous narration. Bill H.
Actually liked this movie ...
I always thought of J Lee Curtis as just average......
They lie for sure
I can’t count the number of visual and written errors in this nonsense.
Great movie but worst use of stuntmen EVER!!! 😁
Stuff his freedom
Also, Eliza Dushku's name is pronounced wrong! He says, 'doucheku', it's actually 'dushku' like hush - ku.
Stop flipping the damn video...
Wow - earthshaking facts. But sincerely- who gives a f.....r.t
Imagine just making up nonsense for clout.. have you read the script for True Lies? ..what are you 12?
Complete BS i'm afraid! Get your facts straight if you're going to release a video on it!
My favorite action movie. The American James Bond, with genuinely funny content. This would have been one of the truly great franchises, right up there with mission impossible and James Bond, if they didn't chicken out and go along with snowflake liberal Hollywood group think. Instead, we got avatar. What a pisser. No wonder they don't make them like they used to anymore. It takes balls, something weened out of p.c. correct Hollywood today.
Why you keep showing the black Nick Fury, when obviously, Charlton Heston’s character is completely and only based on the original pre-woke gender-race swapping mentality of hollywierd?
A reasonable question. My answer? More people are familiar with Samuel Jackson's movie portrayal than with the original comic book version.
@@davidanderson_surrey_bc Tho of course it doesn't make sense that Heston would be emulating the look of the current Fury... At least they did show the original version.
I'm still wondering about the missing butt cheek. Looks like Jamie only brought half a cake to the party.
I think it's cute!
