Hi. I do have a question about keeping altum angelfish. I currently keep 14 large discus in my 720 liter tank. All is doing well in my relatively hard tap water tds around 380 ph around 7. Would these parameters be okay for keeping altum angels? They will not be wild caught, probably raised by Simon Formel. Thanks
@@tropicalfishhub thank you very much for ur reply ?? One last query pls . As this tds is very low . And almost zero in water mineral . Do u add any other mineral ( which we say that fishes do require some mineral) like ph or any booster or any minerals
Wow that is incredible! You’re off to a great start my friend. I’m so happy for you ☺️ weren’t they in the larger tank? They’re so beautiful! I’m getting ready to move mine into the new larger tank. Waiting for it to balance out.
Thank you! I moved the pair to a breeding tank, because they get too nervous in the display. Can't wait to see your Altums in their new tank! They must have grown a lot.
Congratulations. It’s not easy to breed Altum angels. They are so beautiful. Are they F1 pair or wild caught pair? What’s the dimensions of this breeding tank ? Because Altum are big fish, a lot of breeders stack 2 breeding cones together for adding height. It would be easier for the pair to lay and fertilize eggs. A dim lighting would be also helpful to make them stable.
Thank you! This is F1 pair. They are in a 40gal breeding tank. Actually I tried a longer breeding cone and even an upright piece of bogwood, but they seem to prefer this particular cone for some reason. The light was on just for shooting, it certainly made them slightly uncomfortable.
Did they look after subsequent spawnings? I find that often the fist spawning or a new spawning after a break do get eaten. I have often thought this is because the female has been carrying the eggs for a while and they are not as good quality as for the next spawning.
They've eaten 3 spawns already. All on the 3rd day when there are about 50 healthy eggs left. I am thinking that either my water is not soft enough for the eggs to hatch, or they don't get fertilised. I first though that they both females, but last time I saw that male has much thinner vent. I will give them another chance and then remove the cone with eggs to an incubator tank.
@@tropicalfishhub Oh, ok... yeah, I'm planning to use only RO for my system. It's about ~280 litres. I was told to do one or 2 water changes of 20% a week. I'm planning to use white sand on the bottom, so I can siphon the junk out of the system s much as I can. This is a very emotional move for e. I love angels since I was 10 and only now, 40 years later, I got the courage to pull the trigger. Your channel is great and probably the main reason for my move. I hope it works as planned.
I will never tire of watching Altums well done sir
Bro, what are the water parameters you followed to make this happen?
Can you tell me the parameters of water quality? Thank you
Pterophyllum altum is a royal fish 👑.
Are they Pure Wild Caught (F0 Generation Altums)? What is the approx size of the breeding altum?

Your pH is Ok, but total dissolved solids are too high for Altums, there are lots of minerals in your tap water. I would use RO to be on safe side
Hello bro can you give an update? If they breed successfully 😊
They would only hatch in RO water, but I had no intention of breeding them, just spawning them to dilute aggression
That.s fantastic! Great video. Quite an accomplishment .
Thank you!
amazing. sir in the video u mentioned water para meter. where temp 30 ph 6.. what is conductivity? is it tds which is 34?
Thank you. Yes, that's correct

@@AquaticZone I don't remineralize my water because softwater fish like altums and wild discus do not need it.

@@tropicalfishhub Oh, gotcha! Mine are very nervous too. I have the big tank up, few issues that I'm resolving now. Hopefully very soon.
How
thats awesome man!! well done.... how old are they ?
Thank you! they re about 1,5 years old
such magnificent creatures

When and how you feed the fry? Could i use spirulina for the first time?
I didn't have fry; they need RO water to hatch. They will feed only on infusoria type of food, even freshly hatched artemia will be too large

Hey man, why some of the eggs are white?
They will only hatch in RO, and it was tap water
