The town I live in has a bit of an inside joke among the kids that whenever you're asked what to do just say "go forward" because there's literally nothing else to do. We had a pool that was flattened 10 years ago so the nearest one is 5 kilometres away, we have 3 basketball courts of which two close after 6pm and one's a crackhead spot so no one goes there, a single football field that's 90% of the time used for club practice and I think has completely closed for public a few years ago and we used to have a cool hanging out spot in a group of trees, there were pallets to sot on and lights hanging on trees so you could hang out in the evening. But then they cut down all the trees and now it's just an ugly spot with no grass or anything. So yeah, you can go forward, maybe turn left if you feel like, maybe even right if you dare. But never back. You can never go back the same route, that's boring and cringe. So I think I've literally mapped out around 20-30 square kilometres in and around the town just walking and talking with the boys. Great exercise and great conversation chance. 👍
Hearing Sean talk about his root canal reminded me about the rage I felt when it took 4 months (3 appointments) to get my root canal done. Literally everything in our situations are the same except my dentist kept going on vacation.

@@Irish_EndermanI’ve still never heard of her. I know there is some apology and a ukulele, but that’s all I know. At least now I have some context from the Leakey Boys.
Dental nurse here, the beeping is from an apex locator, it’s a machine that helps dentists find the bottom of the tooth. So it sounds it’ll start beeping like continuously when it’s there. Brush your teeth !
As someone who used to be into discord a few years ago (i left and have not used it for almost 2 years now since it was not healthy), age and gender does not exist. Those questions take months or years to naturally come up. Like you just get invited into a group to play some games, you start to click, and then a year later find out that like half the group are minors. And that only escalates when you are in groups of hundreds or even thousands. I mean i was never into hitting on anyone regardless to begin with so no big deal. But it just goes to show that that whole atmosphere is absent of age and gender, it's just people. You just have ideas about who people are based on what they say. And shit like age, gender, location, bdsm test results, etc, just comes up naturally over the timespan of a year.
Seán, the beeping light (blue) that your dentist used is a tool for hardening resin they put in your teeth as filling. The light activates the chemical reaction for a resin to harden, while the beeping is a timer for the dentist. If it was truly irregular beeping, then it was a another tool some dentist use for detecting decay - but I rarely encountered that, perhaps it is in though situations only.
I had a root canal recently. The pain isn't terrible, it's a little bit more than normal dentistry if they've numbed you right, but they kept trying to use like a rough burr grinder that made my skull rattle, and that made me panic every time, so they had to use more fine drills and it took longer.
24:26 Dental explanations: The "needles" are cone shaped files, that are used to file down the root canal, in order to fit a filling, or post ( for the post and core) The peeping device is the Apex Locator, used for locating where the tooth ends, in order to avoid penetraing the tissue outside of the tooth, not very accurate but still reliable.
i fuckin love this podcast sm. my favorite parts are when they're making jokes and then both start cracking up at them. its a lil serotonin boost everytime
37:33 my local skating rink actually melts one of their rinks down in the summer and puts a skatepark for SKATEBOARDERS in there, so Sean is technically wrong. Technically you DO skateboard in a rink here! also, in Canada, we call it skating when we're talking to other skaters or fans of skating, but we typically have to clarify a lot because hockey is so big here. So EEF IS RIGHT!!! (I love you jack please don't hurt me)
My first root canal I was in 5th grade and I had a super traumatic experience, when you're that young they put on a cap and change it when you get older usually 18-20 since your mouth and teeth still shift. I got my new one two augusts ago and I cried the entire appointment and they gave me nitrous to help calm me but they couldnt do it for putting the new cap on but good lord, this dentist was so much nicer but I still kept getting flashbacks from when I was kid. My latest root canal was uncomfortable but the most painful part was eating and dealing with the swelling but the root canal procedure in general didn't hurt the second time.
I'm also getting all major dental stuff worked on, and it's honestly great to hear someone else have my exact thoughts about the whole process. I've just been lying back and re-living the Inside special in my head.
some dental info here for those curious! doing a rootcanal is not inherently a painful process, but unfortunately they are often done on teeth that are in an active infection state, which makes anesthetics less effective. hence why many times doctors will give a round of antibiotics if possible before starting the treatment, to lessen the infection and make the numbing more effective again! however sometimes that isn't an option for every circumstance, and some remain inflamed and difficult. but the only ways to treat the infection are rootcanal or extraction, antibiotics will not remove the source, which is what the actual procedure is for. the beeping that Sean mentions, is the equivalent of a depth finder. it helps the dentist know they've reached the end of the root they are cleaning out the center of. if they don't clean the entire thing, they could leave infected tissue behind. so between xrays and that machine, they can be sure to reach the entire canal. some treatments can be finished in one sitting, while some take two depending on the difficulty, and the restorative procedure needed in tandem with the roocanal. in Sean's case, they need to repair some of the tooths lost substructure with a build-up material and small metal posts. not an uncommon result after a rootcanal treatment. most likely, the actual rootcanal portion of his work is finished, and there is no longer a nerve inside of the tooth at all. so there should be no further pain involved in his restorative process, outside of the surrounding gums and tissues. this concludes your dental lesson today!
In Colleen’s video, at the end of the song, she goes to turn off the camera and it really looks like she’s checking how long she’s been recording, realizes it’s not long enough to monetize, and starts going into a new song

the nerves are dead already by the time they put the rods in, when they were checking with the needle they were looking at the length of the canals, the beep beep shows when you're close to the end of the canal for the right depth of filling
I finally went to the dentist yesterday after not going for so long, and I felt terrible afterwards about having not taken care of my teeth as well as I should have. Comforting to hear talk about teeth troubles and insecurities and whatnot honestly. Teeth have been a plague on my life due to genetics and bad hygiene as a kid/teen. I also had a dead tooth for many years and deep infections for years like Seán described. Last year I had all of my top teeth pulled and am now in denture gang lmao and have had almost all of my bottom molars removed. 11 natural teeth left baybee and I’ll be in soon (when I can get the balls to make the appts cos dentist sucks) to have the last molar removed and a partial bottom denture made. Thanks for being candid and genuine y’all. Eta: I’m only 31 lol Eta2; I’m also a dog groomer so that’s a fun tie in to the episode too LOL Eta3: I also live in Indianapolis 💀
I used to be so obsessed with Bionicles that when I was in grade 5 I wrote a book report on one of the Bionicle books and did like 300 words more than required just because I wanted to waffle on about how much I love Bionicle's and how great they are the philosophy that I invented for the story. Then later on in class we had a circle where we would go around and have each kid talk about their book, and the teacher skipped me because she didn't want me to talk about Bionicles for half an hour. It still keeps me up at night.
As a dental assistant I can kind of explain what a Root Canal Procedure is like - the rods are to clean out the infection and make room for the antibiotics that go inside - that beeping was to locate where the rods went down too (the more the beeping the closer it is to the end of the root of your tooth) and it's called an Apex Locator - at the end of the treatment you will get gutta percha which are the final rods that stay in your tooth
I skate and I would also like to say skateboarders don’t usually say they skateboard we tend to use the least amount of letters possible when talking lmao

42:20 I must be that 1% that likes animated renditions. I love the ones mark posts once in a while most of the time with bob and wade. I'd love ethan and jack videos animated!
Eta: I’m only 31 lol
Eta2; I’m also a dog groomer so that’s a fun tie in to the episode too LOL
Eta3: I also live in Indianapolis 💀
I was laughing so hard during the first ten minutes that my chest started to hurt lol 😂
Why are Sean and Ethan so good at making dental tool noises 😂😂
I used to be so obsessed with Bionicles that when I was in grade 5 I wrote a book report on one of the Bionicle books and did like 300 words more than required just because I wanted to waffle on about how much I love Bionicle's and how great they are the philosophy that I invented for the story. Then later on in class we had a circle where we would go around and have each kid talk about their book, and the teacher skipped me because she didn't want me to talk about Bionicles for half an hour. It still keeps me up at night.
colleen should have asked ethan to write her apology would have been a great collab
For the horror movie, show the kid a live birth video and tell them "this is how you came to be."
For the non podcast videos you should call them brain drips because its only a small amount of leaking
NO WAIT THIS IS REAL AND A GOOD IDEA
I absolutely love these dorks geeking out💙💚
Sean saying "Shinzo" unlocked so many memories for me man I remember waking up early on Saturdays to watch that show.
I love that the bad advice is just gaslighting or laxatives😂😂 makes my day honestly, never change brainy leaky bois❤😂
As an Iowan, I can confirm there's nothing to do here besides run through cornfields, drunk.
My mom is a dental hygienist and honestly she would legit see if yall could just be dental assistants at her office for a day lol
I skate and I would also like to say skateboarders don’t usually say they skateboard we tend to use the least amount of letters possible when talking lmao
literally not even 2 minutes in and I have already leaked....pizza roll filling through my nose. Thanks guys!
that sounds painful
47:13 I wanted to grab and hug Ethan with this subject change for being so relatable. Enjoyed both, would def have been buds as kids. xD
Omf! Jack! Medabots!
Them shitting on rural Iowa was equally hilarious and enraging😂😭
Thanks for talking about ur root canal. I was feeling real bad about my cavities. Very relatable
